    Get it while it’s Hot!

I’m slowly but surely taking down the videos on my YouTube channel. Watch them while they last!

    Here is the channel!

I have more audio play & dramatic reading projects on the way. Hopefully this one works.

    New YouTube Channel

I technically already had a YouTube channel, but I made a new one to put my personal creations into it. The videos on the old channel will start disappearing in favor of putting them on the personal channel instead. I used a new pen name for it, "Bernard Butler", which is a Megamind reference combined with obscure DC comics from the 1940s.

    9/11

The day that changed everything. I’m not forgetting it any time soon. Nearly 3000 people tragically died that day, & because it happened at home & caused such destruction, it made so many Americans feel far less safe. Many feared being in urban environments & around major landmarks out of fear of copycat terrorism, & there was an anthrax scare too - Americans were afraid Al Qaeda was planting

    Need for Voice Actresses

I'm going to eventually move on from MLP fanfiction for a while, if not forever. My plan was to become to Discord what MemJ or whatever she's called became to Princess Celestia. But I'm choosing a new life, so I'm going to, instead of making this the grand opening to a new fanfiction career, make this the temporary or permanent swan song to MLP fanfiction.

To Those Who are Upset about the Tree and Princess Twilight · 5:34pm May 15th, 2014

On a more serious note, the thing that made this show stand out was how much it changed. I grew up with shows that never seemed to change, so the changes this made were remarkable. I grew tired of the lack of change in Buzz Lightyer: Star Commander, Recess, Tarzan of the Apes, and Cyberchase. They were all shows where everyone was going nowhere fast except in the pilot. MLP, however, was not doing that, it was dynamic; if changes didn't happen, the show would become very bland, very fast. We all suspected that Twilight's elevation to Princess and then to a ruler was coming anyway, what else would Celestia condition her for? I think even Lauren Faust was planning that, though she probably would have paced herself better and save that all for a later time than we got. So why be so upset about something we knew would eventually happen?

The fact is, starting somewhere at season 2, it became increasingly clear that this show is about change, like Doctor Who, and if Doctor Who never changed, it wouldn't be Doctor Who anymore, would it?

As I insinuated earlier, I admit that the show is changing a little too fast (change is good, but you should pace yourself when changing a show) and the writers should probably just stop the whole show right now before the quality actually suffers for real this time, due to the fact that you can't really change it much more than you have, except give the CMC their Cutie Marks; but better swift changing or a sudden end on a very grand note than going on with endless repetition akin to the lack of progress I saw on so many other shows. At any rate, I'm sure we'll see the CMC get their Cutie Marks soon, and I won't be upset when they do. It's about time that they did, actually.

So maybe we shouldn't be as upset about the changes themselves as much as we should only be upset that we're now in a position where the show can't really change more than it has. And I know that we most certainly should NOT react the way we did when Derpy was altered; remember when we gave death threats to anyone who disagreed with us about Derpy? It gave us a bad name. Let's not do that again.

I think David Tennant described this phenomenon among fans very well.

Well said my friend. I did a particularly and decidedly more aggressive response to the haters and whiners

Thank you, and your Blog post was very honest, which I like! Glad you explained that Twiley is NOT a Mary Sue in detail! :moustache:

Tom&Jerry didn't need to change though... It was just mindless slapstick comedy of a mouse and a cat trying to kill each other as brutally as possible. It wasn't designed to have big, drastic changes in the characters, settings, and story because there was hardly of those things anyway to begin with. If it had big changes like that, it would stop being Tom&Jerry. It would lose it's charm of being a simple Cat and Mouse Slapstick.

well said...

that is problem I have with EVERY SINGLE FANBASE
From Transformers ( seriously those fans are so prone to be butt-hurt that "Ruined Forever" meme came from there) to Pokemon fanbase ( Gewuners anyone.) Everyone is saying like grumpy old man saying "Back in its "good old days" we didn't have princess Twilight/Baybot/Unorginal Pokemon."

:facehoof:

those idiot fans surprise me sometimes.

The Godzilla fanbase can also be annoying like that. Now I sometimes like it better than the MLP fanbase, but I really don't like how the Godzilla fanbase reacts so badly every time there is a fan-redesign that doesn't look like a Carbon-copy of an existing suit. They cite the 1998 "Zilla" as the reason why Godzilla can't be redesigned, but that's ridiculous, because it's not the looks that make the monster, it's the attitude and the abilities. Zilla usually ran away from conflict and could neither fire atomic breath nor shrug off conventional weaponry. THAT's why he wasn't Godzilla. Looking at all the Goji designs, I think that Godzilla could look like any amniote so long as he had his usual personality and powers.

I know this response is months overdue, but...solid point. I'll make a small change to my original post.
