A Scene (Season Finale Spoilers) · 1:10am May 12th, 2014
It's entirely possible that I'm an asshole for trying to fit my own story into the excellent Season Finale, but I've spent more time today thinking about it than I have about Real-Time Programming, which is a first for this week.
Princess Twilight Sparkle had had one of the most important days of her life. She had, with the help of her friends, defeated Tirek, restored the magical balance of Equestria, and had discovered the role she was to play as Equestria’s newest alicorn Princess.
The first day of the rest of her life was coming to an end. She found the bedroom of her new castle already made up for her. Spike the Dragon still nestled into a basket at the foot of her new bed that night.
“Good night, Twilight” Spike mumbled to her, each syllable sounding more tired than the last, and by the end of the sentence he was fast asleep.
"Good night, Spike"Twilight climbed into her bed with a nagging doubt that something important had been forgotten in the excitement of the day. Her doubts and worries had almost slipped away into the night when she suddenly knew what it was. She bolted up in her bed and shouted,
“Where’s Simon?!”
Twilight rushed downstairs, almost as fast as she had flown with her temporarily-supercharged alicorn powers. "Oh no, no no no no no, Simon! I can't believe I forgot about him!"
As she passed through the throne room, her crazed mind subconsciously noticed a few things were awry. First, there were 9 thrones instead of 7 (one each for her, Spike, and each of their friends). Second, the two extra thrones were currently occupied by shadowy figures sitting down facing her. Glaring at her. She ground to a halt just as a bright overhead light turned on.
"Well Princess, it's about time," Discord calmly stated. "I was beginning to think you were the kind of pony who would forget about her friends. And after everything we went through today, it would be such a travesty if I had to doubt your friendship again.
"You see, I had to rescue Simon here from the rubble of your old home. Good thing he likes spending so much time in the basement, right Simon?"
The second figure held out a piece of paper for Twilight to read. Thanks a lot.
Discord proudly continued, "I think we both deserve a seat at the throne too, wouldn't you agree?"
Twilight grinned sheepishly. "Oops?"

I like it, except I find Discord sounds too accusing, you know? I mean, after the events of the day, he is literally the last being in Equestria to call someone else a bad friend.
I also think Discord and Simon should be sitting in two of the existing thrones. Simon may not be an especially humble person, but he knows where he sits on the "Importance to Equestria" list. Although you'll find he does have a particular role to play in Equestria (We won't hear precisely what it is until the very last chapter), it is a peculiar one, and it doesn't earn him a throne.
The image of Simon sitting, dirty with smouldering hair and a look of "What happened?" on his face is very amusing, though!
It's okay, Twilight. Everypony forgets about Simon. I've even worked into a recent chapter the observation that almost all ponies seem to look through him and forget he exists.
Thanks for writing that passage. It made me smile.

It's better than my version. In my version, Simon died.
So he's in the blown-up tree's basement? gg

Not necessarily. He may have heard the commotion outside, stuck his head out, and seen Tirek and Discord kidnapping Twilight's friends. He may then have gone total coward and run for the hills.
2103456 lol

Try to act surprised if this actually goes into a story at some point (Not Last, though. It ends before this).

At the same time, this may be a time to kill Simon. I intended for him to live longer than this, but I didn't have much solidly planned out. I was honestly thinking after watching the episode the second or third time, "Simon probably wouldn't survive this..."
2103497 I'm not saying don't kill him, I'm just saying not now. As it stands, there hasn't been much plot resolution. Killing him off seems like a cop out.

Well, this does take place something like two years after Last ends (spoilers!), so there's still plenty of time to resolve stuff.
