Firing a round from the headcanon · 4:06pm Apr 27th, 2014

As you've all most likely seen, there's been a '50 Questions About Headcanon' list floating around here.

While I don't really have the time to tackle all of the questions, there was one that got me pondering, so I thought I'd share a little of my headcanon with you:

17. How informed are most ponies about things that happen in other parts of Equestria? What about other parts of the world?

While I believe that ponies are quite well informed, thanks to newspapers, message services, and the like; I believe that zebras as a whole are the most well-informed of all Equestrian species. This is largely thanks to a dedicated Guild of Town-Criers, staffed almost exclusively by wildebeest. The Guild provides regular updates throughout the day, though the most extensive (and by far most informative) update occurs around sunset, when the entirety of the day's key events are recapped. Using this method, zebras (and ponies) can always keep themselves completely informed and up-to-date just by listening to the evening gnus.
