50 Questions: Headcanons

I like questionnaires like this so I'm posting my answers here. Special thanks to bookplayer for posting the questions.

Note: Please do not think you need to accept these answers. These are my head canons and I'm filling this out purely for fun. Plus I like to think of this as a kind of world building for my own stories.

The Princesses:

1. How old are Celestia and Luna?
Considering that Luna was banished for 1000 years and Celestia is the older sister, they're definitely older than 1000 years. I also have to take in consideration that they battled Discord and also apparently existed around the time Equestria was founded. So in conclusion, I say that Celestia and Luna are between 2000-3000 years old, with a ten year difference between them.
2. How old is Cadance?
I like to think that Cadance and Shining Armor are around the same age, so Cadance is probably 27-28 at least.
3. Were Celestia and Luna always alicorns, or did they ascend?
They probably ascended
4. Are Cadance and Twilight immortal?
No, I think they just have an extended lifespan like Celestia and Luna
5. Have there been other alicorns in the past?
Yes, there were alicorns before Celestia and Luna
6. How much authority do Celestia and Luna have in Equestria?
I say they are supreme Diarchs with complete control over all political affairs.
7. Does Shining Armor rule The Crystal Empire along side of Cadance?
Yes, Shining Armor has the same amount of power as Cadance does.
8. Other than Twilight, Luna, and Cadance, what relationships have been important to Celestia in her lifetime (students, close friends, lovers, family)?
I think Starswirl the Bearded has a special history with Princess Celestia, I would even say he was her first student.

Ponies and Equestrian Culture:

9. Are there still cultural differences between earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns, or is the culture homogeneous by the time shown in canon? Are there cultural stereotypes (positive or negative)?
There are most certainly cultural differences, and I would definitely say that there are stereotypes involved, both positive and negative. I think there are still quite a few ponies who are extreme tribalists, but at the point in the show they are the minority.
10. Are there foods or items native to Cloudsdale that are uncommon on the ground? Are there foods or items on the ground that are uncommon in Cloudsdale?
I would think so, yes.
11. Can all unicorns learn all spells, given the time and effort spent practicing them, or is magical talent usually limited in some way?
I think it depends on the pony. I think any unicorn can learn anything, but I do think magical ability also varies amongst unicorns.
12. Earth pony magic: Does it exist? What is it?
Yes, they would have to have some form of magic in order to be able to tend to the land so well.
13. Some pony families we’ve seen seem to have naming conventions (the Apples, Twilight’s family) and others don’t appear to (Rarity’s family, Pinkie’s family), which is more common? Are there reasons for one or the other?
I don't really have any head canons for this as I'm still trying to figure out the whole naming thing. I might have an answer for this later on.
14. How much formal schooling is an average, middle class pony expected to complete?
I'd say the same as a human student.
15. What’s the average lifespan for a pony? At what age is a pony expected to be independent of their parents?
I don't have a headcanon here so I'm just going to go for the legal age of 18, and as for the lifespan I'd say up to 70-90 years.
16. Are there roughly an equal number of male and female ponies?
Sure?
17. How informed are most ponies about things that happen in other parts of Equestria? What about other parts of the world?
I would base their knowledge on social status or just basic curiousity.

The Main Characters:

18. How old are the Mane Six? Spike? The CMC?
Twilight Sparkle: 20
Applejack: 23
Rainbow Dash: 22
Rarity: 25
Pinkie Pie: 20
Fluttershy: 21
Spike and the CMC are between 8-10

19. Did Fluttershy remain on the ground after getting her cutie mark? Were she and Rainbow Dash friends all along, or did they drift apart for a while?
I think Rainbow Dash helped her return to Cloudsdale, but Fluttershy's parents decided to move down to the ground for the sake of their daughter. Rainbow Dash reunited with Fluttershy in Ponyville after Dash left Flight School. Then during the time before Twilight Sparkle came to Ponyville, I think the two pegasi were still good friends but didn't hang out as often.
20. Rarity and Applejack both seem to have grown up in Ponyville. What were their interactions like before the show?
I think they hardly knew each other until Twilight came along.
21. What do Twilight and Spike consider their relationship to be?
I would go with a brother/sister relationship.
22. When did Pinkie move in with the Cakes? Is she a worker who rents a room, an apprentice, or is there some other relationship?
I think she left her family soon after she got her cutie mark, but still kept in touch with her sister Maud. She was still too young to be on her own however, so when the Cakes saw her hanging out around the shop almost every day, they finally decided to adopt her.
23. Who among the Mane Six had the best parents growing up? The worst parents?
I think Pinkie Pie's parents were the worst, because they were most likely against Pinkie's way of life. As for the best parents, I honestly don't know.
24. Why didn’t the CMC hang out more/know each other before Call of the Cutie?
I should make a fanfiction for this, but Sweetie Belle met Scootaloo one night when she was trying to break into the boutique for food. Sweetie Belle became friends with Scootaloo and helped her out. I'm going with the headcanon that Scootaloo had abusive parents, who wouldn't allow her to go to school, and Sweetie Belle was in a separate class from Apple Bloom. When the two met Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle transferred to Apple Bloom's class and convinced Scootaloo to start going to school. ...That's it I'm making a separate blog post for this and I will be planning a fanfiction.
25. Is Scootaloo an orphan? Will she ever be able to fly?
Refer to above for the first part of this question. As for the second part, I think Scootaloo just has under developed wings. If she receives physical therapy and has some help with unicorn magic, she could probably fly some day.
26. Will Apple Bloom’s cutie mark involve an apple in some way, even if it’s unrelated to farming or baking?
Just because Apple Bloom doesn't get a Apple related cutie mark doesn't mean she can't continue working on the farm. Besides, building and fixing things doesn't just have to be for construction in terms of houses and chairs and stuff, it can also be maybe revitalizing a failing crop or something.
27. How is Sweetie Belle’s relationship with their parents different than Rarity’s was?
I got nothing.

Side and Background Characters:

28. Is Mr. Cake the father of the Cake twins or not?
By some relation, yes.
29. Are Big Mac and Cheerilee an item, romantically?
I don't really care much for either character but what the hay. Sure.
30. How did Prince Blueblood get his title?
By being Celestia's nephew. ONLY by being a nephew.
31. Is Silver Spoon equally as bad as Diamond Tiara?
Probably not. I think she's just a follower and needs someone to look up to.
32. Is Zecora’s magic common among zebras?
I would say for her class, which was probably a Tribe Shaman or something.
33. Why does Daring Do publish her stories as fiction?
Coz she can, that's why.
34. Do you have a strong headcanon for any non-speaking or one line background ponies that you want to share?
Nope

Other Species:

35. Does Equestria differentiate between speaking and non-speaking species, in terms of respect, rights and legal responsibilities? Is there some other line or scale used? (For example, how are cows classified? Diamond Dogs? A chimera?)
Diamond Dogs are a species of their own. Chimeras...I guess they're just wild. Cows are happy to provide milk to ponies. Buffalo have their own culture.
36. Do other speaking species form their own nations, or are all nations largely integrated, with some having larger populations of a species than others?
I say Dragons and Griffins have their own nations. I don't know about others though.
37. Are minotaurs related to cows at all?
I honestly don't care.
38. Do all zebras rhyme?
No I think Zecora is under a curse.
39. Do zebra cutie marks work the same way as pony cutie marks?
No I don't think they have 'cutie marks.' I think they have tribal markings instead, given at birth or something.
40. Do any species have types of magic, other than ponies and zebras?
The Breezies definitely have their own magic.
41. Is the lack of buffalo presence in Equestria cultural, or simply because most pony towns aren’t built to accommodate a full grown buffalo?
No I think Princess Celestia has simply allowed Buffalo to settle in areas not populated by ponies.

Headcanon and You:

42. Do you consider official sources other than the show (comics, card game text, movies, novels, etc.) to be canon?
In some ways yes, in others no.
43. Do you have one headcanon that you always use, or do you switch depending on projects?
Not really
44. Can you easily accept the headcanons of different writers? Do you prefer when stories match your headcanon?
I'm open to anything, unless the headcanon is extremely ridiculous.
45. Is there a part of your headcanon that you wish was more popular among writers?
Not really
46. Is there a popular piece of headcanon that other writers use that you dislike?
Not really
47. Have you ever written a story or blogpost just to explain some part of your headcanon (other than this one)?
No (Not yet anyway)
48. Does your headcanon influence things like your favorite pony, ship, or episode?
Yes.
49. Would it bother you if the show proved part of your headcanon wrong? Any specific piece that would really bother you to lose?
Nah

I'm going with the headcanon that Scootaloo had abusive parents,

i still find that headcannon weird considering it was originally made for kids.....
