World of Chaos and Other Stories · 9:06am May 20th, 2012

First off, some quick news on World of Chaos. I have pretty much completed the next chapter, got it back from my trusted and loyal editor, read it again... and... I cried. And not in a good way. Seriously, this chapter is... well... not entirely garbage, but definitely not up to the standards I hold for myself. One thing I don't want to do is put out a chapter that I am not satisfied with, and right now, this chapter doesn't fit that category. Therefore, I hope you all understand when I say that I will be holding off on posting it until Monday. As for Sunday, I'm going to be working my sorry ass off trying to fix what is broken with this chapter.

Those who only came here to hear about the status, you may stop here.

Now, this blog will have no real structure, no real single thought. It will be mostly a bunch of random thoughts I have (by a bunch, most likely it will be 2 or 3 at most).

The first of them is fanfictions that I am working on, thinking about working on, and brainstorming. World of Chaos, as you all probably know, is coming along quite nicely. Sadly, my free time to work on said story is killing my soul, and so my buffer is now nonexistent, which is why whenever I have a delay, the postings get delayed. This is... not what I wanted, and I wish I had a 2 or 3 chapter buffer, but at least I have the next several chapters already outlined, so I'm not pulling things out of thin air. Inspiration has not been lost, and I really know how this story is going to end up, and how I am going to end it (with one minor detail, but that's a secret, so shhhhh).

How long is this story going to end up? Well, I know for a fact that, at the very least, its 2/3 done, most likely 3/4. This count, however, is pretty much only considering chapters, and not taking into effect the length of them at all. Like I just said, I have the entire story except the climax and conclusion outlined, and the climax and conclusion is less me needing to think of one, and more me putting it in an outline. Therefore, much to I think everyone's pleasure, this will not end up as one of those stories where the author is stuck of a month because of a writer's block. I may take extra time, but that would be because of extra length, and nothing more.

That said, I am starting to get to the point where I am thinking ahead, and trying to figure out what stories I am going to be writing next. At this point, I have... well... a ton of them in my head that I wish I could write, but considering that there are five, and most are going to be about the same length, I think I'm going to have to prioritize them. The one for certain that I am going to write (which I ran though my two brothers, and even the non-pony lover one thought it was a funny concept) is going to be called something along the line of "Luna's Dreamscape Waltz", or something like that. I don't wanna give too many details, but more or less, it'll be about Luna going around at night, looking into random ponies' dreams. This will be much more episodic than WoC, much sillier, and while I will put just as much effort into it, it will be taken much less seriously... if that makes sense. I expect this one to come out within about a month or two, and will probably start up around the time that WoC is starting to end (potentially having two stories at once), and will update much less often than WoC possibly.

As for other story ideas, the next serious adventure that I am thinking of is going to be one of three different stories, of which I cannot decide on which I want to do at the moment. Every time I think I want to do one, I get an amazing idea for another. What are those three you say? Well... I don't even have titles for them in mind; all I have is concepts...

1) Avatar: the Last Airbender crossover (Taking my 2 favorite cartoons ever, and putting them together? Soooooo much win)

2) Stargate: SG1 crossover (Another HiE story? Yes, but I haven't seen a good Stargate crossover yet, so might as well put it to paper!)

3) Some sort of Celestial being (Archangel Michael maybe?) comes to Equestria in search for a fugitive Demon (expect a lot of badassery here)

Of all of these, I'm leaning towards 3 the most, but that is mostly because I have thought of the most scenes in my head for it. 2 is probably the easiest in my head to write, because the story I'm thinking of basically writes itself. As for 1... well... its a recent addition to the list, and WHY NOBODY HAS WRITTEN THIS I HAVE NO IDEA!

Anyways... wow... I guess I was only going to post one thought today. Next time I'm posting a blog, I will try to be a little more... constructive, and give you guys reading material from amazing authors that I wish I could match in quality!

Heh... wouldn't you know it? Not even twelve hours, and there's a Stargate SG1 fanfic on this site. Didn't read it, but I giggled.

You comment on my blog posts all the time so here I am to return the favour. This also happens to be one worth talking about so that's a plus for me as well.

Sorry to hear about the drop in quality of the recent chapter of World of Chaos, hopefully you will be able to improve it within your extended time. I know the feeling of being unsatisfied with a chapter or story but I usually upload them anyway...and they are loved...:rainbowhuh:. Authors are apparently very bad judges of their own work.

Onto your fanfics ideas and I'll be honest, while the first one has creative room for some great humour, it doesn't excite me. On the one hand Luna being able to see/visit dreams has been done a few times already, and on the other, I feel being able to move the moon and thus having the power of gravity is a pretty decent power as it is, Luna does not need to add the power of dreams to her repertoire (also, as Naruto has already shown, unless the power of dreams has a drawback it is incredibly unfair and overpowered). Maybe you'll be able to do a good enough job with it to satisfy my qualms though. As for your other fanfic ideas;

1) Though I never got around to watching a great deal of this show, what I did manage to see I enjoyed. Out of your ideas this is the one I approve the most, it hasn't been done for (or at least to a good quality) and I would like to see a crossover which actually feels fitting to be mixed with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (despite what they may think, Warhammer 40K, Halo, Call of Duty, and other sci-fi, shooter, and mature rated games don't mix well with the colourful fantasy setting of MLP).

2) 125824 I was actually going to comment on that fanfic popping up but it appears you already have. Never watched Stargate and I'm not a big fan of crossing sci-fi with MLP but if you think you can work it I will believe you, and actually give it a read per its release.

3) The basis of such and such visiting Equestria is a little overdone at the moment, it feels pretty much pointless if the character is not a pre-existing character of another series, and you just applied religion to the story by the suggestion of an archangel. I personally do not like the idea of this but it's your choice and I won't hold it against you.

So out of all the ideas, I really like the sound of the Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover, wouldn't mind reading a Stargate crossover even if I will probably not understand half of it, and while the Luna dream thing isn't my cup of tea I do believe you are an author capable of making me like it. The only one of these story ideas I wouldn't read is your last one but like I said, just my opinion and it's your choice in the end. Wonderful blog post here, glad you have plenty of ideas ready for when World of Chaos ends, and I hope whatever you end up writing turns out well. Cheerio!

Nah, I mostly have it figured out. The best way to put it is that it was "choppy". I pretty much took a butchers knife to the damn thing, and tore the chapter a new one. That said, its already fairly better, and if I can convince my editor to take care of it in record time (maybe bribing him with oreos will work...), then it will be posted tomorrow. And yeah... I hear what you mean about the whole "authors are their own worst critics", but I like maintain a certain... quality of my chapters, and this one (earlier at least) did not even come close. Maybe I am wrong, but alas, I am not.

I will now reply to each of the replies to the story ideas in order...

1) Luna Dream thingy: Its been done before? Hmm... I'm sure it has, but I haven't seen it before. Most of the time, I see stories of ponies entering other pony's minds, and interacting and such, but I don't think I've ever seen a simple "viewing". That said, this is less of the power of dreams, and more a power that I think that even Celestia could do. Its supposed to be a silly story, and I hope that my terrible sense of comedy will be able to make SOMEONE out there laugh.

2) Avatar: If you have seen a story that has had these two crossed over, link it to me, even if it is a terrible one. Seriously, I haven't seen a single crossover of these two. That said, I have two things to say.
A) I have no idea where this will take place in either storyline, but while it will be serious like my WoC story, it will be much much MUCH more light-hearted.
B) You NEED to watch this series. Its my favorite show of all time, and with the exception of one episode, there isn't a single bad episode out there. Very creative, the animation is damn good, and every single character is three dimensional, flawed, and likable.

3) Stargate: Yes, its a Sci-fi crossover, I admit this, but the good thing about this one over a lot of the others is that it removes the whole "spaceship comes into orbit, and they are very futuristic" and such like that. Earth in this show is set in the modern time, and all the tech that is in the show (with minor exceptions) is real tech, especially the equipment that the teams use. With that, I hope to break the whole "OMG WTF SPACESHIP!?!?" thing going on.

4) Angel: Ok, first, I want to calm some nerves: I would NEVER interact on a subject as touchy as religion in a way that would actually offend or something like that. That said, the whole Michael thing is more of an example, and the religion wouldn't ever be explained. Would there be a God? Yes. Other than that, any other religious figures (Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, and others) would never be mentioned, so it would be fair to anyone. If anyone would be offended... well... they would have to be looking for something to be offended with. As for your preference, I respect it, and while I will potentially take it into consideration... well... ITS MY STORY BITCH :trollestia:

On a final note (kinda referencing what you said about the Luna idea)... shame on you for thinking that I would do something everyone else has done before! I have read WAY too many stories to not realize what has and hasn't been overdone. I admit, for a few days, I had the idea of a Zelda crossover, but then I thought to myself "I think everyone had done one of these...", so I decided against it. And even if I did, I would never do it the same as someone else. So poop on you.

PS: That last paragraph was partially me being silly, so don't take it too seriously :derpytongue2:

That is also why I will never add a "Doctor Hooves" to any of my stories... ever...
