New Lunar Republic: Rise and Fall of an Empire ("Fight for Ponyville" Preview) · 1:45am Mar 8th, 2014
(This is a preview for one of the many wars that will take place throughout the fanfiction
A dark grey unicorn stallion stared out at the vast plains that used to be Sweet Apple Acres before 'The Fall' happened. This was where the war was going to be, this was going to be where he, Duo, stood against the Solar Empire. His black and white mane and tail, split in the middle to separate the colors to one side each, swayed in the wind as he stood on top of the hill waiting. Behind him was a small army of no more than eight hundred troops. The fliers, know as Pegasus, hovered above the army with their bows ready to strike. The Earth ponies, covered from head to toe in dark blue, with black trim, armor made up the front of the group. In the back, the unicorns wore a lighter version of the Earth Ponies' armor, ready to back up the front with defensive spells.
Duo, the adopted nephew of Princess Luna, turned around to address his troops with a small smile. "My fellow soldiers, today we shall defend our hometown of Ponyville! We shall not sit by and watch as the Tyrant Celestia takes away what he still hold dear!" He paused briefly as he heard the cheers of the troops. "Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy are already setting up the final defense at Ponyville in case we fall. This is the time where colts become stallions and fillies become mares! Let's fight for our freedom, let's fight... FOR PONYVILLE!!!!" This time the cheers came to him in a loud roar of determination as Duo turned. That was when he saw the Solar Empire.
Rarity stood at the front of the golden-armored troops, Twilight standing next to her. Once Twilight and Duo locked eyes they both frowned sadly. Going up against your teacher was something nopony should ever have to experience, that was partly why he understood Twilight's decision to support the tyrant Celestia.
Twilight simply shook her head as she turned to face Rarity. Before Twilight could even get a word out, Rarity placed a hoof on her snout to silence her, "Darling, do not worry. I will make sure Duo is captured alive."
Twilight nodded her head before taking one more look at Duo. She closed her eyes sadly as she turned and walked away and out of sight.
Rarity then looked at her opponent's army with a confident grin. Raising her hoof, she extended it outwards and yelled, "Charge!"
Once Duo heard the declaration of war, he too responded by doing the same thing, "Attack!" After saying this, both armies charged at each other as Duo and Rarity stared each other down from their respective sides. They then decided to charge at each other for a one on one fight.
Oohh! I like!
Oh snap, Rarity is the leader of an army. Didn't see that one coming.
