That day of the year has arrived again – the day to smile for having survived another year, the day to look back on the year and be thankful for what blessings it brought and proud to have weathered its storms.

It is a day worth celebrating (and with cake!) and a day worth taking as much of a break as life allows.
It’s also a great day for making silly wishes. I don’t want to wish for anything selfish. Nor do I want to be sappy. (You all know how much I cherish you and this community, and why should I wish for more when I have been given the gift of friendship in such abundance?) Instead, I reserve my wishes for the impossible (world peace, an end to all hunger, the comeback of Firefly or Crusade), the implausible (getting affordable health care, a cure for cancer) and the ridiculous (Putin comes out of the closet, more FIMfiction pony smilies including a Fluttershy other than “yay” that doesn’t look miserable). I don’t expect any of these things in the next year, so there’s no chance of being disappointed, leaving the process of making such wishes fun.
I wish it was only that many candles.
I plan to spend the weekend, or at least those parts which aren't spent working or sleeping, with friends. I have fun new board games (Eldritch Horror and Forbidden Desert) to delve into with local friends (as well as the aforementioned cake), and two amazing weekend Fallout: Equestria roleplaying games this with awesome GMs and wonderful folks online. There's also the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode, and I've been extremely happy with this season so far. Season 4 has not been completely without points that I could complain about, but has been so very good overall that I feel it would be a disservice to complain. (As an added bonus, at least for me, Season 4 has had several wonderful Fallout: Equestria-supportive moments. Fallout: Equestria hasn't been canon compliant since midway through Season 2 when all of Equestria's clocks suddenly switched to 12 hours in Read 'Em & Weep, but it's fun to see moments appearing in the cartoon that support or echo elements of the story. And this season has had quite a few, including the Elements holding back the Everfree Forest, an on-screen tank, and a "sometimes, being (your virtue) means knowing when not to be" episode moral.) Plus, an absolute abundance of cute Fluttershy!
I’m looking forward to what the next year brings (mostly with eagerness or joy, albeit some things with trepidation). I hope that all of you hang around to share in it with me.

I am just back from another friend's birthday party on this very same day. Since we're all a bunch of silly roleplayers (ages 25-45) and there are about twenty of us, we spent the evening roleplaying as reptoids infiltrating human society while we were at a fancy restaurant.
When the staff brought out the candled cake, we all spontaneously started singing the alphabet song rather than the birthday song.
Silly birthday wishes are the best wishes.
