    Loveless

Today I'd like to take a moment to plug Loveless by Alice Oseman. If you're not aro ace like me, you probably won't have as many feelings as I did, and maybe that means you won't enjoy it quite as much, but you will most definitely come out of it with a better understanding of the aro ace experience. (If you are aro ace like me, you'll repeatedly think "That part was kind of uncomfortably

    The Princess and the Popper

One might look at the fact that some new Make Your Mark episodes were released yesterday and assume that this relates to them, but of course one would be wrong. I'm never that on-time with anything anymore.

    A Party to Die For

You know, when I decided I was going to blog about the G5 comic sometimes, I thought "sometimes" would happen again before issue #11. My last blog post was in July!

    The Magic Without

I wasn't sure I was going to do these for any of the G5 MLP comics, and clearly I'm not going to do it for all of them since I've already skipped the first, but I do feel there's a lot to unpack about #2 (now that it's finally arrived).

    On Fairness

I don't have a lot I want to say about the Make Your Mark special, but I do have a couple thoughts looking to get out.

Seabreeze is just a big softy · 8:24am Mar 6th, 2014

If you think like me, you may have wondered what a breezy as motivated as Seabreeze was doing near the back of the column. You may have thought it awfully convenient that the leaf was just far enough forward to cut him off from the line; had he not been stuck with the stragglers, they never would have gotten home. Or you may simply remember that in my last blog post, I questioned why there weren't experienced breezies bringing up the rear to ensure nobreezy got lost. Well, I for one wonder no more.

Consider: breezies are strongly reliant upon the breeze to activate their magic. We would then presume that they are likely to be very sensitive to the air currents that are so central to their magic. From there, it is reasonable to guess that a breezy (at least one who had taken steps to prepare for a dangerous trip and was paying attention) can tell where a breeze is going to break up if it does break up, and where the breezy convoy might split. Thus we can theorize that Seabreeze deliberately positioned himself at the head of the final pack. This explains why the leaf happened to cut right in front of him; he had specifically ensured that he was just trailing the furthest back disaster could happen.

So why did he do that? I can only assume he did it to keep an eye on the stragglers, so they didn't get lost, or waste all their time at some random pony's house (for example). Now, this may be an organized duty; he may have officially had the job of keeping track of the young and lazy. But I doubt they'd give that job to an unwilling breezy, so if he was assigned he was probably assigned because he volunteered. And, of course, if he wasn't assigned, then he was doing it of his own free will. Either way, he was putting himself at risk to protect breezies he probably didn't know and certainly didn't respect. He may have been yelling at them for most of the episode, but he was only there to do the yelling at all out of the goodness of his heart.

Of course, at the end he did give up and try to leave without them, but nobreezy's perfect.
