Hello all,
Just checking in to see what's been going on with everyone. Hope you're all having a great weekend, and that those of you with midterms coming up (I have them this week) are being diligent and proactive in your studies.
God I sound like a parent.
Anyway, as I said I would do in my Superbowl Post, here are my Oscar predictions (some are risky but I'm going for it regardless):
Best Picture: Gravity (12 Years a Slave looks like the front-runner, but what fun would it be to simply base winners on previous awards?)
Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity)
Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)....but do not discount Leonardo DiCaprio for this. Do NOT.
Best Actress: Cate Blanchette (Blue Jasmine)
Best Supporting Actor: Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club)
Best Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave)
Best Film Editing: Gravity
Best Adapted Screenplay: 12 Years a Slave
Best Original Screenplay: Her
Best Production Design: The Great Gatsby
Best Costume Design: The Great Gatsby
Best Score: Steven Price (Gravity)
Best Song: 'Let it Go' (Frozen...and if ANYTHING beats this I will riot in the streets)
Best Animated Feature: Frozen
Best Sound Mixing: Gravity
Best Sound Editing: Gravity
Best Visual Effects: Gravity
Best Make-Up: Dallas Buyers Club
Best Documentary: The Act of Killing
Best Foreign Language Film: The Great Beauty
I apologize for leaving out Best Short Documentary, and Best Animated Short but I don't know enough about them.
Honestly, I haven't seen half of these films. Gravity was pretty good, though, and Surprisingly enough my favorite film from last year was Frozen. It was just brilliant, and you know a Disney Musical hits the right chords if a group of college-aged men leave the theater raving about it (I went with a bunch of friends, it was epic). I feel it should have gotten a Best Picture nomination. Sure it wasn't the best-written film of all-time but it had both artistic and commercial appeal. I don't know, what do you guys think?
Anyways, happy Saturday night to you all.

Things I've been up to:
1.) Graduated
2.) Looking for a job right now
3.) Finally wrote a story that's getting me recognized on this site, which you should totally check out.
And yeah that pretty much covers it. Been a while since I've heard from you.
Actually, I really want The Moon Song to win Best Song.

Good picks. Yeah I'd really like for Gravity to win, especially because no science fiction film has ever won best picture. Plus dat 17 minute tracking shot. After watching "Gravity" and "Children of Men" (which was one of the greatest directorial feats I have ever seen in my life), Mr. Cuaron is one of my new favorite directors.
I really want to see Her and The Wind Rises (in addition to everything else), and I want to watch American Hustle again.
And I have not seen Wolf of Wall Street, but I really want to see DiCaprio finally win an Oscar. Plus, if he does win, Jennifer Lawrence will be the one to hand him the award.
The internet will explode.

Really? Good for you man! (both for graduating and for writing a popular story)
I'll have to check it out. Yeah, I know it's been a while. School can be quite a pain, especially since it is my junior year and I'm having trouble finding time to even send out internship applications. The good news is I have an interview over Spring Break so maybe that'll lead somewhere.
1886872 I saw 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, American Hustle and Gravity.
I rank them like this:
1. Gravity > 2. Captain Phillips > 3. 12 Years a Slave >>>>>>>>> 4. American Hustle (seriously it was a mess)
1886878
I'll give American Hustle one more try, but yeah I'll admit that I left the theater with a feeling of utter confusion (which is a shame because I LOVE David O'Russell and felt like Silver Linings Playbook was one of the best films last year, and "The Fighter" one of the best in 2010).
1886898 yeah...it's just a total complete mess. The acting was great, but the script was a total disaster.
I wrote a review on it (ended up giving it an unjustly high score....i'd probably give it 2 stars now)
Oh, random (yet still Oscar related ranking):
My ranking for Best Original Score:
1. Gravity
2. Her
3. Philomena
4. Saving Mr. Banks
5. The Book Thief
How about you?
1886907
I've only heard Gravity of the choices, and think it winning would be totally deserved.
I hear the score for 'Her' is pretty damn good as well, and I do feel bad for Thomas Newman. The poor dude should have won at least one Oscar by now (especially for Road to Perdition).
1886943 I know right?!
And actually, I have the Her score on hand. I can send it to you over google docs if you want.
I can send you all of the nominees.
But yeah Gravity should totally win. Although if Her wins, it'll be a good win. It's a quasi-ambiant score, but it's got it's own unique feel to it.

Thanks for the offer man, but I'm good.
I have Spotify so I can look them up and listen to them lol.
1886987 Can't get the Her score on Spotify.
It's a promo, for your consideration release, and Warner Bros. said they're never gonna release a normal version.
So I can at least send you that one.
1886997
Oh really? Okay cool, thanks man! Do you need my e-mail?
And how did you get the For Your Consideration Release? is it released to the public?
1887010 I got from Download-Soundtracks.com.
And no apparently they're only given to the Music Branch of the Academy, but due to the wonderful world of the internet, we can find them.
And yeah I'll need your e-mail. It's a g-mail correct?
1887019
You can send it to this e-mail: zsanfili@rochester.rr.com
