So, as I've been receiving a lot of comments on it lately. What Bound Them is... alive. Sort of.

Cataloguing this moment that absolutely no one cares about, because I'm a rather pathetic human being and feel like I should celebrate this not-particularly-impressive milestone.

    Everfree Northwest 2014 Thoughts

So! The Everfree Northwest 2014 Fanfiction Contest has just drawn to a close. For those of you who didn't hear about it before now, this was a contest centered around showing a villain (or antagonist, anyway) of the show in a positive light. All entries were limited to three thousand words or less.

So those few of you who actually give a crap might have noticed that What Bound Them, my first and longest story on this site, has stopped updating.

First off, I want to say that I have not put it on hiatus. It will continue, but it won't update daily any more. Rather, it will update whenever I finish a chapter. This means less frequent chapters, obviously, but it also means that each chapter will likely be better edited and will probably be longer than the ones that came before.

Why have I made this change? Well, because other things have started taking up my time.

I've started writing other stories, for one. What Bound Them was originally undertaken as a project to get myself back into writing, and it's succeeded wonderfully. Now I have far too many ideas, and occasionally I have to get a specific one down on paper just because my brain refuses to shut up otherwise. You can see two examples of this with "A Bolder Note Than This" and "The King In Crystal" (which was written for the Everfree Northwest 2014 Fanfiction Contest).

Other than those two stories, I have several other ideas bouncing around in my head which may or may not get published at some point in the near future:

- "Serious Business": My current writing project. A short story about Cheese Sandwich's quest to become the greatest party pony in all of Equestria and how he overcame his shyness.
- Only Friendship: An extremely silly and stupid Warhammer 40,000 crossover that I've been tossing words into whenever I can't find anything else to do. Not serious at all - more Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann than super grimdarkery, because ponies are awesome that way. It involves Pinkie Pie becoming an honorary Ork and the Mane Six spreading the magic of friendship to the forty-first millenium. Also, Celestia is an alternate universe counterpart of the God-Emperor.
- Vice: Working title, as this one is currently just an idea rather than anything concrete. In an alternate universe, Princess Celestia banished Luna to the moon, but not because Luna went crazy. Rather, Celestia was the one who became corrupted, and Luna wasn't powerful enough to stop her. Now, a thousand years later, Equestria resembles nowhere more than Stepford, as the Empress rules with an iron fist in the name of perfect Harmony. Those who step too far out of line find themselves dragged away and... corrected using the Elements of Harmony. As the Summer Sun Celebration approaches, though, a small group of rather villainous individuals discover legends of a force powerful enough to oppose Harmony: the Elements of Discord. Now Sunset Shimmer, Trixie Lulamoon, Lightning Dust, Flim, Flam, and Gilda are setting out to make the world safe for villainy once again.

In addition to my writing projects, I am also now acting as a prereader for The Royal Guard and writing two other stories that have nothing to do with MLP. So yes, my plate is a bit full at the moment. Apologies to everyone who is left in suspense about what horrible thing will happen to Spike next, but I will get it done eventually.

Cheers!

Good to know that you aren't giving up on that story. I had noticed the two new stories which was why I wasn't badgering you about 'What Bound Them'.
Oh and that Stepford Ponies world sounds very interesting.

Dude, there is no way anyone could keep a story like that, updating daily. I mean, expecting an author to continue doing so, while still writing, would be like expecting New Orleans to never flood again.

1880920 Ha. I managed it for over a month, anyway. I'm okay with that result. :pinkiecrazy:

But yeah, as I've mentioned in the story notes and comments, that was more of a means to force myself to write something than to force myself to write something good. It was more about the word count than anything. Slowing down will help to keep it from becoming any more of a mess, hopefully.

1880951 Well, you wrote something good in attempt to just simply write. I would love to see you write something good.

1881070 Well, that will probably never happen on this site. The stuff I'm writing that's actually meant to be good - meaning I sit down and plan this shit out, edit it, have it proofread and get feedback and all that stuff - is the stuff I plan to actually get published, and therefore isn't pone. :rainbowwild:

1881122 Oh wow, so you write professionally?

1881311 Aspire to, yes. At the moment I'm working on a manuscript for a novel and have several prospective publishers lined up. Do I have anything published as of yet? No. I'm just out of college, so I haven't really been trying to get anything done on that front before now. Earning a degree comes first.

Right now, I support myself with a regular job and write in my spare time. Hopefully I'll be able to support myself just through writing eventually, but for now I'm just getting started - and there are a lot of published authors who still have to work other jobs anyway. Unless you strike gold like Stephen King or someone similar, writing just doesn't pay all that well.
