The Appledash Project – State of the Fanfic Address · 7:32pm May 13th, 2012
The AppleDash Project is kind of an experiment. I've never tried to do something like this before, and I've never really seen it done. I'm having a great time with it, and I appreciate every comment and like and fave I receive. Seriously, it's like crack.
So anyway, I'm moving into season two now, and I want to know what you guys think. What's working, what isn't? Do you want more arguments, or more comedy, or more slightly mushy stuff? More interaction with other characters? More focus on AJ or on Dash?
Are there season two episodes that you really want to see on here? So far my “definitely” list is:
Return of Harmony
The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
The Last Round Up (which may be two chapters, one during the episode and one after, and will almost certainly be angsty in places)
Super Speedy etc.
Hurricane Fluttershy.
(Canterlot Wedding is already done, but I might rework it.)
I also have a “maybe” list, and I plan to pull a few from that, but I'm happy to consider ideas if anyone presents me with an interesting take or prompt. Keep in mind that I'm looking for episodes that would cause some sort of reaction between Dash and AJ, or prompts for typical relationship things, especially if there's an episode you could see sparking it.
Another question: So far I've tried to stay away from anything major that might be Jossed* by canon later (things like Dash or AJ's parents or Scoot and Dash spending time together.) Now, obviously I'm not going to break any canon we have now because I'm working between episodes, but should I keep trying to keep things within probable future canon, or does that really matter?
Feedback! Give me feedback!
I'm working on Return of Harmony right now, but I can't really give an estimated finish time because I'm throwing a Pony Party next weekend. (Balloons! Cupcakes! Punch! Friends!!! And six whole hours of of episodes and PMVs!!! Yeah, I'm kinda channeling Pinkie right now. *GASP* So much to do.)
(* Warning: TV tropes link.)
Hmm, a different approach on the end of Mare-Do-Well would be interesting. I always though Dash was somewhat OOC in that episode.
Aside from that, keep up a mix between comedy, mushy, etc... Too much from one side would be slightly boring. The Project is running good so far in my opinion, short little stories that show the episodes from a different view
"read it and weep" could be a good episode to try, with dash ending up in the hospital and all.
hmmm, Most of the eps you posted their are a great choice. Maybe MMMystery on the Friendship Express would be a good one to do? AJ all sad about missing out on the cake, and getting her revenge? Other then that keep it up bro

How did you find Dash OOC in Mare-Do-Well? Just too over the top? I hadn't noticed it, but when I watch it again I'll keep that in mind.

Read it and Weep is on the maybe list, and it's definitely up there. . . I can think of a couple of things I could do with it, but I'm not sure if any of them will work yet. It comes right after Last Round Up and Super Speedy etc, which is already a tough set of episodes for me to work with.

I hadn't really thought of MMMystery. Though being one of the last episodes, it's quite possible I'll be like "NEED MORE EPISODES" and end up doing that one and Ponyville Confidential regardless.

Well, I just couldn't imagine Dash being so accepting and forgiving in the end. With the way she is I thought she might be a little bit hurt by the fact her friends somehow betrayed her. But that could be also just me overthinking things don't think too much of it, I just never liked the outcome of the episode.
Aside from that, Sweet and Elite would make for another good chapter.. you know seeing as they are in Caterlot again like they were on the Gala
