Rules of Engagement is critiqued by an actual Marine · 5:12am May 12th, 2012
As some of you may know, I do research on my fics in the hopes of being 'accurate' and 'realistic' (yes, in a world full of magical ponies, I know right?), well yesterday I finally managed to get an actual Marine to comment on the technical points of my fic. ~yay! Apparently I made errors with regards to some of the firearms (USMC issued nightscopes, tactical issues with the M4 vs M16), loadout (he should be carrying HEAPS more ammunition - at least 8 clips, and obviously, no dragon skin armor), and more... but overall he liked it (although he hasn't read Fallout Equestria)

For those of you who have taken the time to read my blog, I have a little treat: a taste of the next chapter. Enjoy!
The ‘enemy combatant’ I had tied up began to stir. When I had removed his armor and saddlebags I noticed that his green coat looked matted, mangy and smelled foul; his cutie mark appeared to be a fractured skull. Not what I was expecting from a ‘pastel grass-muncher’. Hopefully I was about to find out what happened to the utopia I once knew and loved.
The pony looked at me and his pupils contracted in fear. I suppose he hadn’t gotten a good look at me last night. He struggled against his bonds before bearing his yellowed teeth in a rather adorable attempt to intimidate me. Despite the circumstances, ponies still looked cute.
“What’s your name?” I asked, starting the interrogation with what I hoped was an innocuous question.
I half expected him to be surprised that I could speak ‘Equestrian’, but if he was, he wasn’t showing it. I suppose most creatures in Equestria could speak it, so it wasn’t that much of a stretch.
“I’ll kill you!” he yelled, starting to struggle again.
Ok, this was going to be harder than I thought.
May 12? New picture? The new chapter is coming soon, right?! Do want!
This is what actually got me interested in FO:E in the first place. Now I've read the original, Pink Eyes, and all of Project Horizons so far.

It makes me so happy that I could introduce someone to a story as great as FOE. I only hope that one day I can write as well as kkat or somber.
The new chapter is coming soon, probably. I don't have time to write
during the day and I keep falling asleep at night, but the first deadline for my project is tomorrow, so hopefully I can work on it after that.
Sorry for any typos, I'm writing this on my phone.
For another good side story you might want to try 'Heroes'

I'm already on chapter 6 of Heroes, actually. Pretty interesting.
I wonder what the Marine will do when he has to use local weaponry? I'm not sure how well a mouthgrip would serve as a stock.
