As many of you know, I have the sequel of Renew called Through The Crystal Mirror up on my account. I have been looking at it lately and feel like it doesn't have that same excitement that my previous stories had. I was wondering if I should keep going or create a new story to replace it.
I would never actually delete the story, but I might put as an alternative take on what could have happened after Renew if I decide to write a new story all together. Since the main theme of the stories is basically dreams and keeping Discord from returning to stone by any opposing forces, I see that Through The Crystal Mirror has been ignoring this.
Ponies, I want your honest opinions on this. I have no problem with creating a new story, I just want that charm back that the previous stories had.

PS. Also, should Screwball be dropped if a new story is created? I can't have her just drop off the face of Equestria, perhaps she can do things around Canterlot Castle or something else and not be a main character anymore.

You should keep it, but in all honesty, I have to agree that the sequel to Renew is ignoring the aspect of dreams and Discord not being able to be turned back into stone.
With that being said, this is your series to do with as you please. If you feel it necessary to re-write this story as a new submission, then I support your decision 110%.
Now with regards to your question about Screwball, I believe you should make her a primary back-ground character, while still maintaining a few main character aspects; such as- 1.) support her father and step-mother through their marriage, 2.) start learning everything she can about being a kind and caring older sister, & 3.) always willing to help her parents with whatever trouble they will inevitably come across through their life's journey together.
If this helps you out at all with making your decision, then you are welcome. If it doesn't, then I guess I'd just have to BRING DESPAIR AMONGST YOU AND EVERY ONE ELSE WHO DISCOURAGED YOU WITH THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kind of like it as is, depending on how interesting it is in later chapters. It all just depends on what is going on. It is your story though, so do what you think is best.
