Isn't this the most beautiful wedding invitation you've ever seen? I know that she made it—it's exactly how she's always imagined it.

While Gabriel continued to develop this dream, Liselotte gave up on love and went home. He accompanied her to the Gare de l'Est and lifted her two cases to the overhead rack. Then he got down and stood on the gray platform and watched her being borne away. The train was blurred, as if he were looking at it through Liselotte's tears.
For a time her letters were like the trail of a child going ever deeper into the woods. He could not decide whether or not to follow; while he was still deciding, and not deciding, the trail stopped and the path became overgrown behind her.

Ooh. Yeah, unrequited love is worst love. (Aside from abusive love, of course...) We who are the Cyranos, the Eponines, the Snapes, and the Doctor Horribles of the world - we know your pain all too well. :fluttercry:

...But hey, look on the bright side: she's found happiness and someone special to spend the rest of her life with, and neither of you are dead yet. That's gotta count for something, right?

I'll soon forget what was never there;
Your words are ash and dust
All that's left is the song I've sung
The breath I've taken and the one I must.

Been there, brah. In fact two years later, I'm still there.

So. Whaddaya drinkin'?

Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all?

1762134 Not unrequited. We lived together for three years. But I've been there too. Thanks.

So, when the thunderbolt strikes again, what will you do?

I'm sorry.

On the bright side, an invitation that's like she always imagined it is almost certainly not like the one he always imagined.

Pour it all into some cruelty to ponies, I suppose. :fluttershysad:

It passes, eventually. That doesn't count for much in the moment, but it will at some point.

That's a problem I've got while writing. I just *can't* write a good solid sad unrequited love ending. Pumpernickel marries Laminia, Green Grass finds he's not as bad a mate as he thought, etc... Heck, I even plan on letting Diamond Tiara succeed in her quest to buy a baby sister.

>they're not even of truly noble lineage
Don't feel bad. Your august radiance stands resolute above all. :trollestia:

You have my best thoughts and sincere sympathy.

Saying anything more eloquent, right now, feels like it would be about me, rather than acknowledging your emotions. So I offer what I can. I've been, not exactly there, but close enough to know.

Sucks man.:pinkiesad2:
