Planet of the Ponies on hiatus · 11:04am May 9th, 2012
I'm putting my main story on hold... for as long as it will take.
I was pointed how terrible my English was in my last story. While I knew my English was bad, I didn't expect it to be that bad.
Basicly the whole list of bads, and within the first page. Well, maybe I could have guessed it.
I will continue with short or very short stories trying to make them perfect.
Hopefully I will be able to go back to my main one before the next decade. :p
Baby steps...
Really? Your spelling/grammar/vocabulary has been pretty good. Your english has improved dramatically over the whole of 'Planet of the Ponies' and 'Never judge a book by its cover' (by the way, I really like this story!), and it was actually really good considering EFL.
English is my first language and even I get a little confused about the proper use of commas and apostrophes, for example "its" and "it's" or "hers" and "her's". I know I use way too many commas. If you're ever confused, the easiest thing to do is google it.
So anyway, don't feel bad about it when someone corrects your grammar/whatever. Just try and learn from it. I know that's easier said than done. :P
Edit: Errr, yeah. I just read the latest chapter of 'Never judge a book by its cover' and yeah, there were some noticable mistakes.
Oh well. I really like this story!
106986 Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up. It's by forging that you become a blacksmith. But Planet is my baby and the last thing I want is to botch it up. It's just I wasn't prepare about how bad it is.
I think, the only bad thing I managed to avoid, is to mix up its/it's, your/you're and so on.
So yesterday I learned that :
- "I think I do." She said.
Should be:
- "I think I do," she said.
I would never had guessed that comma out of nowhere and the logical link between the dialogue and the part after.
I've been told to re-read my stuff out loud. Makes a lot of senses and I will do it from now on.
I'm sorry you fell the need to hiatus because of your English, but hopefully you'll start again soon, better and more confident than now.
Your grammar and vocabulary are quite good, I been reading fictions for more than 5 years already, I Know Which fiction is good or Bad. and from my view your are good and interesting.
