Possible Removal of Story · 6:48am Jan 14th, 2014
First off, to anyone who saw my earlier... outburst, I'd like to apologize for flying off the handle like that. But I've calmed down and done several hours' thinking, and I am genuinely considering removing "Field-Testing A New Spell" from this site - and thus, from the Internet at all (unless someone's copy-pasted it somewhere else on the 'net and not told me. ...Knowing people, that's a disheartening possibility).
This whole thing of that one stupid mistake made back in the old Chapter 1 turning up to be mocked on "WTF Pony Fanfiction" and then on Derpibooru... It isn't the first time my works have been insulted, but it IS the first that my mistakes have ever been dragged out into the limelight to be pointed and laughed at and mocked by hundreds, maybe thousands of random people. I've never experienced that before, and... I just can't deal with it. If one tiny vocabulary/analogy-failure moment is going to get be relentlessly mocked and insulted and made a laughingstock, then maybe I... Maybe I'm too frustrated and disheartened in my (apparent severe lack of) writing ability to finish that sentence, is what I am. So...
I know that "Field-Testing" is, by a SIGNIFICANT margin, my most popular work on this site. But now I really don't think it deserves that popularity, if it really is sucky enough to be jeered and mocked and belittled like that. If you guys can convince me to, I'll leave it up and not touch it, and TRY to ignore the mocking elsewhere on the Internet. But if you can't... I'll delete the story, and if anyone makes ANY comments related to the story or this fiasco, anywhere in my Profile or on my other stories or blog-posts, good OR bad, supportive OR condemning, I'll delete that comment as soon as I spot it. I will disavow and reject that the story ever existed. Because it obviously will have not deserved to.
Enough of you convince me to, and I'll leave the story up. If not, it will be erased as if thE wolF from the Shining Armor Arc of Pony POV Series ate it. I await your replies.
WTF community. I remember reading this fic and enjoying it. Sure there was a bit of repetition but I forgave you for that because it was your FIRST clopfic. I'm rather dismayed that you were the target of such mockery as I honestly do not feel like you deserve it.
Despite what we really strive for as authors, which is to create entertainment of all sorts based in the universe of a show we love, it's disheartening to see that people are quick to jump to the bandwagon to tease the work that we put so much time into.
Personally, I don't think you should remove it. We all make mistakes as writers, and we can either move on and become better because of it, or wallow in angst and never try again.
I do hope you continue writing because I thoroughly enjoyed your first clopfic.

Ignore them, they have no say as to weather or not a story should be posted. I mean this is an attempt of censorship and you should tell them that you will keep this story posted and will ignore any attempts to remove it.

Though, I am not overly surprised in a way. There is a subset of the fandom, a minority, but still larger than it needs to be, that simply enjoys being relentless assholes for no real good reason. There is the fact that clopfics tend to be object of scorn in and of themselves as well, especially fetish clop.
I am not going to say the story is perfect, though personally I think the ending was probably where it was weakest, it was still a pretty good run of a porn fic, and is one of the stories I consistently go back to. c//c
If you really want to pull it down, at the very least gimme time to download the story on to my hard-drive. I don't want to lose it forever.

Whenever someone accomplishes something, someone else decides their name ought to be dragged through the mud. Old fucking news. I give the same advice as always: Ignore the assholes.
For the record, however, I just saved your fic in with a few other high-risk ones, just so it's not lost because some petty morons had nothing better to do than ruin someone else's day.
Fame is fleeting, but the Internet is forever. I'm sorry that this situation has got you down. Instead of pretending like the incident never happened, I'd just chalk this up as a life lesson and look at it as an opportunity to practice humility.

Personally I enjoyed everything about the story. Haters will always find something to pick apart and destroy, it's what fuels them. It could be the best written piece of work in existence and someone will find something about it to flame, it's just the way of the world. Any form of art will always be loved and hated, no way around it. My advice would be to just ignore people like that, so they didn't like it? So what? Tons of us did and I for one think that counts for a lot more. Don't give assholes the satisfaction of knowing they got under your skin.

It's the internet. I KNOW this doesn't sound good, but the internet is the internet and WILL mock anything they want.
As a writer you should be able to ignore AND listen where it's right. LISTEN to people doing honest critiques and loving your work. IGNORE the people mocking and just making fun of your work. THOSE people you don't and shouldn't be listening to at all.
The fact that you give them any kind of attention is crazy.
Basically; Fuck'em. Keep the story here and just keep on doing what you doing.

In my opinion, what is more important is that there are people who genuinely like your story for what it is.
So if someone wants to point and laugh without even giving it a proper read - they're stupid and they should feel bad.
Judging something without giving it a try is a show of a pretty bad lack of intelligence (or common sense).

Okay. Let me explain this to you mate: Everything gets mocked.
Everything. The most seminal works in existence get mocked. The best shit ever written gets mocked. Things that have saved lives get mocked.

I really hate to say this mate, but if you want to NEVER get made fun of, you're gonna have to get off the internet altogether. It's the only possible way.

Don't remove it. You put hard work behind it and it's become your star story. There will always be people who mock others on the internet, but screw them. You did your best with that story and that's all that counts.

In an RP I used to administrate, I made one mistake and ended up destroying the work of about six people.
I know your pain, believe me, but this is not the right way to handle it. Like Bronystories said, the only ones who are unhappy are the ones who can't learn to laugh at themselves. Instead of taking the 'mockery' as an insult, see it as a funny coincidence, correct the mistake, and move on. Who's gonna mock you directly for such a thing?
I read the first chapter of your story, and I was rather entertained. I felt that that clop story had something others didn't, and that is something I found quite impressive. Emotion. The characters actually felt more for each other than what was going on, which was very, very heartwarming.
You've got a gift, my friend. Don't let the endless droves of the Internet's predictability get you down. Just laugh and move on.
If the story wasn't popular at all, I'd say to remove it. But the simple fact that it is currently your most popular story indicates that you should leave it up.
Remember, there are some people who like to antagonize other people by ragging on them and insulting their stories. We call those people trolls. And responding in any way to a troll is called feeding the troll.

I know that you said you were going to keep it up already, but I still wish to add that it would sadden me greatly to see such a work removed. There is nothing that I can say here that has not already been said by others, and I completely agree with them.
I fully enjoyed your story this came as a surprise to me its hard to believe that there would be groups of people so petty as to mock other people´s work, in my honest opinion it was a good story since it was your first clopfic, so the hell with that people there are 467 others that I´m sure agree with me, in fact let me quote someone

I know this is an old post, but I'm slightly curious: what the hell are you talking about? All I see on WTF and Derpibooru are this and this (NSFW text in both). I don't see any "mistake" or "insults", just a passage that's funny out of context and people being amused by it. I see you deleted some comments (never do that, unless maybe if they disclosed sensitive information or something), but only three comments posted since the WTF post were deleted, and they were all from the same user.
Sex and porn are funny. Pony sex and porn more so. The kinkier, the funnier. Half the people you're accusing of "insulting" your work probably went and looked up your fic to fap to after they commented. If you really can't handle successfully amusing people, don't write porn or have sex. (Or post anything on the Internet, as has been said.)

And yes... Just to PROVE it, I searched all the pages of this post and the story in question and I have indeed not commented at all, outside of that one singular supportive comment, and only offered my fave and upvote for the story. Fome, I am only replying to you once, and that's simply because you chose to generalize me with no backing or evidence to support your words, and I am calling you out on it. I stand by my previous words. I offer the author my support, and feel that any story with over 500 upvotes is something to be happy about, not to feel bad about! That's something to have some confidence over! It's a great thing! I obviously faved and upvoted it, and I thought it was just great!
