    Fire Ghost Teaser

“She called for you, Zealot. Even as she bled her last all she could say was your name over and over. She screamed it, she rasped it, she gurgled and cried it. Oh it was such sweet music. Her skin was, mm, sumptuous to say the least,” the Flayer purred. “Such a supple hide, so unlike my normal fare.” The creature clucked its tongue in distaste. “It lasted me for quite a while.”

    Why? Maybe.

Why? Because it’s three in the morning and I can’t sleep.

Because that line has been stuck in my head for three hours now.

Because my mind is a swirling vortex of motionlessness right now.

NLR: Leviathan, Get Youself In The Story!

That's right! At the conclusion of some chapters I will pose trivia question on sci-fi or the nature of the story! The first one to guess them correctly will get to name a captain and a ship and appear! Name, Ship Type, Ship Name. And I'll fit it in at next opportunity!

Why am I doing this? Because I looooove it when other authors do it.

    So, first two questions.

NLR: Leviathan, Get Youself In The Story! · 5:15am May 8th, 2012

1. What is the nature of the Foehammer?

2. Where did I draw inspiration for the Divinus Noctis?

I realize that the first question is kind of a spoiler, but to those who guess it good job! Then answer will be in the next two chapters so I don't see too big a deal.

This blog post will be updated from time to time with the winners and their approved characters and ships.

The name FoeHammer is a reference to a character in Halo:Combat Evolved who piloted the Pelican drop ship. The actual Foehammer in the story seems to be some sort of super weapon, the nature of which I am not positive.

The Divinus Noctis is most likely a reference to the Codex Astartes from the Warhammer 40k Universe

(Double commenting woot)

Foehammer could be some kind of new warship or big ass weapon. Likely to be experimental or too damn expensive to just send into battle.

Divinus Noctis seems to be a cult of personality text. Perhaps created without the consent of Luna or perhaps encouraged to bring zealotry into the army.

106439 Well, you're close on the Halo bit, the actual 'Foehammer Protocol' I got from the 'Cole Protocol' in Halo where a ship erases all its navigational data to keep the covenant from finding earth. As to the nature of the Foehammer, you are correct! It is indeed a superweapon! As to what it'll do, well... we'll just have to see.

You win the first slot! You may now choose a captain (or commander, I'm not picky) a ship class for them to be on, and a name for that ship.

As for the second question, you're close, but sadly it is not referring to the Codex Astartes by Guilliman.

106474 Very close on the first, but sadly Prince beat ya to it mate. You're on the right track with the second one.

By inspiration for the Divinus Noctis, do you specifically mean a book within a sci-fi novel?

Well, since you seem a fan of Warhammer 40K, and judging from the more "underground nature" of the Divinus Noctis I would speculate that you are referring to Lectitio Divinitatus, the Imperial Religion that predated the Imperial Cult. That'd would be my guess anyways.

122814 Holy crap someone got it! Yes, inspiration for the Divinus came from the Divinitatus! I looooved the cruel, grimdark irony of Lorgar being the one who wrote the Lectitio. Draw what conclusions between characters as you will. *insert maniacal laughter* :pinkiecrazy:

You sir, are a winner!

142205 wooo! Having spent hours painting Tau soliders has finally paid off!
