    Still Canceled

    But I'm not dead.

In regards to Smile Wide, here's a snipped comment-reply (since I don't know who's going to see it, even with the tag):

    Hey, to my few Watchers

A psuedo-reward to the people who bother to watch my author-stuff/care to pay attention.

Advance notice! I'm halfway done with a new chapter of Smile Wide and should get it out in the next couple days.

Part two of the reward - an explanation for the haiatus/weird update 'schedule'. My creative process runs about like this:

*Come up with new idea; love it*

    Cover art?

I'd been considering it for awhile, but having it pointed out to me bumped it up the priority list.

    My story needs cover art.

The problem, I find, is that there really isn't a lot of art out there that I can really settle for. Just something simple, but still fitting. After some time, I narrowed it down to two possibilities.

    Option A)

A psuedo-reward to the people who bother to watch my author-stuff/care to pay attention.

Advance notice! I'm halfway done with a new chapter of Smile Wide and should get it out in the next couple days.

Part two of the reward - an explanation for the haiatus/weird update 'schedule'. My creative process runs about like this:

*Come up with new idea; love it*
*Write regularly for a week and maybe publish a chapter or two*
*Slowly wind down, then hate everything*
*Wallow in shame and self-pity*
*Eventually come crawling back with apologies and inspiration*
*Rinse and repeat*

So yeah. I really do appreciate everybody who still likes my stuff despite the ridiculous wait-times, awkward-author-ness, and whiny mood-swings.

Part three - More on topic and less annoying (hopefully), an excerpt from my notes. Don't worry, no spoilers! Just my bare-bones character sheet type thing, because Smile Wide turned out to have more (relatively) original characters than I'd actually planned at first. Really, they were just supposed to be, like, background things. But whatever, here's the thing.

Dust Mote: Oh, the poor colt. Pegasus pony, floofy and gray. Cutie-mark is a dust-bunnie. Lily Blossom's cousin. Enjoys watching streams of sunlight through trees/windows/thatch/whatever. Friendly but not the most sociable, he worked as a sales-clerk at a local flower shop until...well, the incident. Now he's got half a scarred smile and lives in Ponyville with his cousin.

Blued Steel: Earth Pony, Lieutenant in the Baltimare City Guard, in command of two squads. Sturdy but not overly large, pale gray coat with just a hint of lighter dappling, his cutie-mark is a hammer striking an anvil. Injured prior to the Joker's escape from Baltimare. Coffee addict. Has a brother who spent three years in the fire department.

Cloud Burst: Second squad flight specialist. Bit of an ego, clean-white coat and feathers. Cutie-mark resembles a diving bird.

Bluetip: First squad flight specialist. Just as good as he thinks he is. Light brown coat and pale feathers, slight blue tinge toward the tips (it's a dye-job). Experienced investigating breaking and entering. His cutie-mark is a golden magnifying glass.

Red Brass: Copper-brown earth pony with a pair of horse-shoes for a cutie-mark Corporal of Blued Steel's second squad. Affable and not the best when it comes to formality, but a solid sort.

Brightside: Corporal of the first squad. Bright white coat, earth pony, 'classic' Guard good looks. A little regimented. His cutie-mark is simple shield emblazoned with a lit candle.

Cross Stitch: Unicorn, pale coat and blonde mane. A little uppity, but a good medic. Cutie-mark is a needle and a spool of dark thread.

Haywire: Unicorn, orange coat and red mane, explosive and alchemical specialist. She's very good at what she does, but sometimes lacks the ability to dumb it down for others. Her cutie-mark is a shower of sparks.

Marigold: A little scatterbrained, a little clumsy, but she stumbles across the best possible course of action more often than not. Yellow and gold, with a (you guessed it) flower cutie-mark. It's not a Marigold, though, so at least her talent isn't having a name.

Ironhoof: Big, solid earth pony. Usually stoic, a little clumsy, the nicest guy around. Cutie-mark is a single horseshoe and a pair of crossed nails.

Finally, a (belated) happy Holiday/New Year to all!

P.S. I'm tagging Smile Wide, here. What does that mean? What does it do? Does it just show up and say 'Hey, this is related to this story look at this thing here!'? Idfk, but I guess I'll find out, won't I?
