So... It's been a while hasn't it. · 9:22am Dec 31st, 2013
So, to the nine people out there that follow this account (and the rest of you that happen to see this), I know's it's been a really long time since I've worked on The Essence of Magic... Half a year(ish) since I redid the prologue and around one and a half years since the original. This story has been bugging me for a while now, standing there in my account as a lone testament to my seemingly infinite inability to actually follow through with a plan, so I'm going to finish it. My expectation for the length of the fic is around 20,000 words give or take a few thousand and while that might not seem like much compared to some of the other stories out there (For example, basically anything in the 99 worlds saga by BlackRoseRaven), that's still 5x longer than anything else I've written to date (My longest written piece being a 4,000 word essay for the IB).
The reason that this has taken so long is two-fold; the primary reason being that I don't actually like writing that much, it kind of feels like a chore to me most of the time. I was hoping the fact that the story would be pony related would make it more enjoyable to write (which it did to some degree) actually working up the will to start or continue working has been basically impossible since the first chapter. Secondly, there's been an important part that I just couldn't figure out how to write. I've tried many times over the past year and a half to get it done, but it wasn't till a little while ago that I realized how I can make it work.
So, to wrap up this very late post (4:30am), I am resuming work on The Essence of Magic and hope to have a new chapter out in a few days. If I don't, well I guess I'll talk to you around summer break again.
Till I feel the need to post again,
~Acermanta
EDIT: Also, if anyone knows anyone willing to do some prereading, could y'all send me a PM? My grammar and spelling is normally quite good, but I have a feeling that a lot of my writing is going to be done rather sleep deprived and could end up somewhat error-ridden.
