Friendship is Card Games: Mane Event

So, as I have come to understand, the main G5 IDW line has been replaced by/subsumed into a series of mini-series and one-shots that feels like the equivalent of a network trying to kill a show by bouncing it around the schedule. Hopefully I’m being paranoid there.

    Rumor Gathering

While diminished from its peak, the Writeoff is still very much an ongoing concern. Regrettably, while I actually had an idea for the most recent prompt, my Saturdays are packed to the gills and thus I didn't have time to compose it before the submission deadline. As such, I have employed Dueling

Friendship is Card Games: Wondercolts Forever: The Diary of Celestia and Luna

The next entry on the schedule was issues #21 and 22 of the G5 mainline, but those have failed to manifest, making me wonder if that line’s actually been ended in favor of the various mini-series currently in progress. And among them, I only have one released issue unaccounted for. As such, it’s time to turn to the next pony novel… which does not contain ponies.

    Incident of Examination

There's a Crystal Prep-themed Sunset shipping contest on at the moment, and one castoff idea I had got me wondering about Sunset attending CPA... and running against a logical issue. At least I got

Friendship is Card Games: Tell Your Tale, Season 2, Part 2

Looks like that Leap Day hypothesis carried some weight. The long-form episodes should be interesting in their own right, but we’re not looking at one this week. Let’s see what there is to see.

Friendship is Card Games: Bats! · 12:50am Dec 30th, 2013

Well, that was fun. I do hope some of this season's cliffhangers are going somewhere. Though those that don't can still be used as fanfiction fodder.

Sadly, there were plenty of good card names for this episode that couldn't be used simply because the cards already exist: Peer Pressure, Mob Mentality, Persecute, Invoke Prejudice, the list goes on. And Twilight totally cast Exposit from last week.

In any case, there was still plenty to work with, and work with it I did. Here you go:

Lingering Vestiges 1WW
Enchantment
If an Aura would be destroyed, regenerate it. If it regenerates this way, its controller sacrifices it at the beginning of the next end step.
Magic is like a jealous lover, quick to cling tight and slow to let go.

State of Emergency 2WW
Enchantment
Creatures you control have vigilance.
Fateful hour — As long as you have 5 or less life, creatures you control get +2/+2 and you have hexproof.
It's amazing how much tragedy can be prevented just by staying attentive.

Adorablize 1U
Instant
Target creature gains hexproof and becomes 1/1 until end of turn.
"Is this how Fluttershy sees everything?"
—Princess Twilight Sparkle

Urge Purge 1U
Instant
Kicker U
Choose one of target creature's abilities. That creature loses that ability until end of turn. If Urge Purge was kicked, another target creature gains that ability until end of turn.
Out one mind and in the other.

Mirror Finish 2U
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant permanent
Whenever enchanted permanent becomes the target of an instant or sorcery spell or an ability, if that spell or ability isn't a copy, enchanted permanent's controller may copy that spell or ability. He or she chooses new targets for the copy if able.
Earth pony magic infuses itself through every action they take, including polishing fruit.

Stare Mastery 2U
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature's controller may choose not to untap it during his or her untap step.
Enchanted creature has "U, T: Tap target creature. That creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step for as long as this creature remains tapped."

Bat Sanctuary 1B
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant land
Enchanted land has "B, T, Pay 1 life: Put a 1/1 black Bat creature token with flying onto the battlefield."
"All they ask for is a little love and a little space. And maybe the teensiest amount of blood."
—Fluttershy, Bearer of Kindness

Inappropriate Cheer 1B
Enchantment
Whenever a creature dies, you gain 1 life.
Pinkie Pie puts the "fun" in "funeral."

Vegevampirism 2B
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature is a Vampire in addition to its other types and has "Whenever this creature attacks, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each Forest defending player controls."
Blood is not the only vital fluid.

"Bats!" 2BB
Enchantment — Song
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a verse counter on "Bats!"
1B, Sacrifice "Bats!": Destroy any number of target creatures with total power equal to or less than the number of verse counters on "Bats!"

Moral Dilemma 3B
Sorcery
Choose target creature card in a graveyard and target creature. Return the card to the battlefield under your control unless the creature's controller sacrifices it.
"Is it worse to hurt your friends or help your enemies? That isn't rhetorical; I'm still getting the hang of this 'good and evil' thing."
—Discord

Follow the Herd 1R
Instant
If a creature attacks this turn, all creatures attack if able.
"Once ponies start chanting slogans, there's just no reasoning with them."
—Princess Celestia

Prehensile Mane 2RR
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Whenever enchanted creature attacks, you may attach target Equipment to it. If you do, unattach that Equipment at end of combat.
"It's made of fibers, just like a muscle. Why shouldn't I be able to use it like one?"
—Pinkie Pie, Bearer of Laughter

Applebucking Day 2G
Sorcery
Whenever you tap a land for mana this turn, add G to your mana pool.
There are few greater joys than knowing that you're doing exactly what you were born to do.

Enormous Apple 2G
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant land you control
Enchanted land's mana abilities cost 3 more to activate.
Whenever you tap enchanted land for mana, put a growth counter on Enormous Apple, then add G to your mana pool for each growth counter on Enormous Apple.

Harvest Duty 3G
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature has "T: Add to your mana pool an amount of G equal to this creature's power."
"We can always use a few more hooves."
—Applejack, Bearer of Honesty

Biohazard Suit 2
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature's toughness can't be reduced by spells or abilities.
Whenever equipped creature blocks or becomes blocked by a creature, that creature loses deathtouch until end of turn.
Equip 3

Tatterdestallion 4
Artifact Creature — Scarecrow
Defender
At least one creature an opponent controls attacks each combat if able.
"Who even puts a scarecrow in the middle of a bunch of trees that are taller than it?"
—Rainbow Dash, Bearer of Loyalty
1/4

Vampire Fruit Bats 3BG
Creature — Vampire Bat
Flying, lifelink
Whenever Vampire Fruit Bats deals combat damage to a player, destroy target land. That land's controller searches his or her library for two basic land cards, reveals them, and puts them into his or her hand. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
2/2

Long-Term Solution X1UB
Sorcery
Search your library for X cards, shuffle your library, then put those cards on top in any order.
"It's sure to work. Just give it a few decades."
—Princess Celestia

What, no double-sided Flutterbat? :trixieshiftleft:

Oh gods, slap a Harvest Duty on Omnath, Locus of Mana!

And, um, on Stare Mastery, did you mean "Enchanted creature's controller may choose not to untap it during his or her untap step"?

You should reword the first part of Moral Dilemma so the declaration of targets is in the same order as the declaration of effects. Not a big issue, but it will make which target does what perfectly clear.

Favorited card of this set: Enormous Apple. Scaling mana effects for the win!

Eh, it's been done. Besides, that's what Vegevampirism was for.

:rainbowlaugh:
Now I'm thinking about a story where Omnath just sits in the middle of Sweet Apple Acres, generating a massive feedback loop of earth pony magic.
:derpyderp2:: Applejack, why is there a green sun in the middle of your orchard?

1664232 omglol! Do want!

... You didn't answer my question, tho nevermind, just looked at the card

its your blog post, but i feel the name sengir fruit bats would've been brilliant for one of the cards

The Baron has no influence in Equestria, nor do his children. Even if they did, Celestia would probably have a few words for them. And by "words," I mean "bolts of coherent solar plasma."
