New Years Resolution + Christmas Results! · 11:16pm Dec 29th, 2013
Hey everyone! M1S here with some fun news.
First of all, Happy Holidays, hope you all had a great Christmas and I hope you all have plans for a kick-ass New Years. I hope you guys got some cool gifts for Christmas, cuz I sure did, including a sexy new gaming keyboard and mouse, a 360 controller to replace my broken one, my first smartphone (an iPhone 3 :P), games from lots of my awesome friends including The Walking Dead Season Two, The Wolf Among Us, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Splinter Cell Blacklist, DayZ (Standalone), State of Decay, and Nether (gotta get my post-apocalyptic survival skills on with those last 3!), Battlefield 4 from the Family, a longer-lasting battery for my laptop I write on, Breaking Bad Seasons 1-4 on DVD cuz that show is the BOMB, and lots of candy and a few gift cards, a bit of which I spent on some friends to get them games for Christmas.
So that was my Christmas this year, how was yours? What kind of cool presents did you get? =)?

I wanted to spend this blog post talking about something big and hopefully those of you who watch me and are hoping for more work from me might be excited about. This blog, I'd like to talk about my personal New Years Resolution.
2014 is going to be a big year for me in college and I'm going to be starting some writing classes. I also got some writing books for Christmas and I've got a bunch of writing books I've had from the library since October so I could learn techniques for my writing, and plus I'll be starting a couple writing classes in college so there's that. What does this mean for The Price of Loyalty and what other stories I may write? Well, theoretically it should mean higher quality, and also that while The Price of Loyalty's general story won't change, its' execution very well should. I'm eager to learn some new techniques and hone my style some more so that I can bring you guys some quality writing. It's going to be a goal for me to master my writing techniques by the end of 2014. That's only the first half of my New Years Resolution.
The second half is perhaps the most important. Because I've been procrastinating so much and that's the real reason PoL and any of my other stories take an entire eternity to get published, I've decided that once the new year begins, I'm going to set myself word limits and start practicing some self discipline. Every day I'll write at least 3000 words OR 2 hours, whichever comes first. It's clear I need to allot time out of my hobbies in order to actually focus on writing and get things done instead of spending all my time gaming. If I can get myself a word or time limit schedule every day, hopefully it should become a nice, steady habit and then I'll finally be writing much more actively and get some damn stories published. Plus I think it would give me some closure if I finally found a system to convince me to finish The Price of Loyalty so I can work on my more ambitious sequels and spin-offs I'd like to write for it. I may also publish short stories based off characters in PoL just so I can try different styles and genres in a universe I've become a little obsessed over.
If you guys are interested in some info about my spin-offs I have planned and would like to hear more, click this link to check out my blog entry about the spin-offs!
Lastly, there's a story I wanna work on to try and vent some of my writer's block frustration by writing a story inspired by Breaking Bad and my good friend Cold in Gardez and his incredible short story, The Glass Blower. This story took me completely by surprise and the theme explored in it is one I want to give a spin as well and mix it with Breaking Bad's theme of a good person slowly becoming a bad one for good intentions. As for whether or not I'll make this a pony story so I could publish here remains to be seen, but if you guys are interested, the quote box below is the premise:
The story begins with a successful writer getting an interview on his latest novel, when the question is asked what his next project will be, to which he doesn't have an answer. Cut to years later, the writer is broken down and living a more terrible lifestyle. His money and his family are gone and he's struggling to create his next book. Suddenly, an event happens, a crime, that finally inspires him to where he can create the best story ever told, the one that will make his name. The story explores the obsession of a writer in love with the art of storytelling and perfection of the story that would make him one of the greatest writers in history.
That's the premise. I don't exactly know what the crime will be nor do I know exactly how it'll end (though I do have one good idea thanks to some r/l friends), but I can't wait to write it. Getting Breaking Bad for Christmas and being able to watch such an awesome and inspiring show will no doubt help fuel the concept further. We'll see how that particular story develops over time.

So! That's just about everything worth mentioning in this silly blog. Personally, I can't wait for 2014, because it's going to be designated my year of writing and by the end of it, I'll have hopefully mastered the craft, then 2015 and onward can be spent creating.
That's all for now folks. Thank you so much for reading and again, I hope you guys had a super-awesome Christmas and I hope you got a big party planned for New Years! Happy writing and reading everypony!
