    Update (Without excuses this time!)

Guess what? I'm done writing the next chapter of Manifesto.

I just need to give my prereaders a day or two to look over it, and then it'll go up.

Until then, here's Despacito being played on a guzheng.

    Hey, everyone.

I've somehow gotten out of the habit of posting updates. Oops.

Anyway, you've no doubt noticed that I don't post as often as I once did in the past. This is largely because improvements in my life situation mean I have the wherewithal to engage in hobbies other than writing fanfiction.

Goodness, it's been a while, hasn't it? You're probably wondering why my pace has slowed down on Manifesto. Well, there are several reasons, but the most relevant one is that I find myself rewriting large swaths of this chapter as I zero in on the best plan for Sunset to take. I'm basically going back and forth between two ideas that can't really be combined into a single one, and for

    New Story Incoming

In case you missed my last blog post, I'm taking a break from the adventures of Celestia and Daring Do to write the next Petriculture story. At this point it looks like it'll be fairly short -- about two chapters long -- and I recently finished up the first chapter, which will be posted once my prereaders give it a final once-over.

Chapter 6 Update · 1:55am Apr 30th, 2012

After giving the matter some thought, I think I might make "Chapter 6" into "Chapters 6 and 7." I'm doing this for two reasons. First, my personal preference for fanfiction chapters is about 3,000 words to begin with, and right around that point, I came to a spot that seemed like a natural break. Secondly, and more importantly, the "sneak peak" I posed in the previous blog post revealed some unexpected controversy, and trying to decide what to do about it was actually making it really difficult to focus on the rest of the chapter; thus, I've decided to let all the readers have a look, so I can decide whether or not it should be revised based on their reactions.

Screw the readers, do it anyways

I agree that splitting a chapter is a good idea if you think you're getting a little to lengthy for comfort.

And as for the controversy, well, I'm sorry for my hoof in that. You are referring to the marijuana references, right?

Yes. The marijuana references themselves aren't going to be a major part of the plot (in fact, it gets dropped entirely after the opening scene that I showed), but it introduces the concept of ponies using illicit substances (though not any of the characters from the show), which, depending on how my imagination decides to work, might prove to be important in the final chapters.

It's amusing how much people are adverse to sex, violence and drugs in relation to pony. I'm personally adverse to heavy "corruption" of the primary themes and characters, but I don't find sex, drugs or violence in and of themselves, depending on how they're handled, to actually be corruptive.

While I must confess i'm a bit baffled at how stoner ponies is more immersion breaking than pinkie pie snapping and baking dash into cupcakes I can still accept it as someone's opinion. Personally I think the scene's hilarious and I really hope you keep it in.

92597 I haven't read cupcakes yet. Any reason I should?

93903 Uhh if you want to be part of the group that has read it? Honestly Cupcakes is somewhat infamous because it was sort of the first well known gore fic written in the community and it's literally pinkie pie goes crazy and murders everyone and then tortures and murders rainbow dash and bakes her into cupcakes.

Far as I know that's it, personally i dislike gore so I've never read it. My point was more that to the people who had issue with the marijuana scene had no problem with torture, murder, and over the top violence but took issue with ponies hypothetically smoking pot (I'm assuming yes but since that scene doesn't say for sure I figure i'll hedge my bet) which tends to lead to very little more than a junk food binge. It's a bit pat to phrase it that way but I don't really know how else to phrase it.

Again I fully respect their opinions I just wish to politely express my disagreement with it.

Watch this video instead. It's Rainbow Dash Presents: Cupcakes, by the guys who do the Mentally Advanced abridged series. Even though it's a parody, you still get the overall gist of the original---minus the gore, since that's how FIMFlamPhilosophy parodies gore fics.

98221>>98232 Thanks for the responses. What I meant by "yet", was in terms of, "never going to read it ever":ajbemused:. I was more just curious about what was causing all the hubbub.:pinkiecrazy:

Bye Y'all:ajsmug:

>> Tadrith You're not the only one trust me. I'm never gonna read it either. I confess I did lugh meeting a cosplayer dressed as Pinkie Pie from Cupcakes and made sure to get photos.:rainbowlaugh:

Incidentally, I was originally going to include puns about "cannibis" and getting "baked" in this chapter, but I decided against it because... well... Cupcakes.
