Sonson-Sensei

Sonson-sensei here, how's it hanging my precious students. Not much I can say about myself in such a short blurb but I'm a writer and artist that happens to like ponies. Rarity is best pony.

    Psst

So the way I planned on picking a winner for my follower competition was to use random number generator. Your number would be based on when you followed. For example Darkman_224 was my first follower so his number is 1. However it seems like everyone I pick through random number generator for my follower comp never respond. So I figure I'll do it like this, if you want the OC drawing prize, just

Some news, a competition, and a bit of discussion

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog post, only a couple of things to report. First off, so what about that opener to season 4? Personally I thought it was okay, the pacing at the end was a bit off. Regardless it was better than season 3’s opener.

    Story Updates

Sup guys just thought I give a little story status since I’ve been M.I.A on that front. As for A Zoologist Dream, I’m just about finished with the chapter, it’s sitting at over 14k so my longest chapter to date and I should be done with it by tomorrow. After that it only needs to be edited.

    Update: Story Status

Well I guess I haven’t been the busiest of beavers recently, in fact I did next to no writing throughout March. Hey but there’s a reason behind it. I won’t say life got in the way, it was actually video games.

    First Blog

Well it’s come to my attention that I have some followers now and I’ve never actually made a blog post, so uh here it goes I guess.

Funny how I’m nervous about a little blog post when I post written work on a fiction site to be scrutinized by all. Well I digress, I suppose telling a bit about myself is as good of a subject for a blog as any other.

Some news, a competition, and a bit of discussion · 6:08am Nov 25th, 2013

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog post, only a couple of things to report. First off, so what about that opener to season 4? Personally I thought it was okay, the pacing at the end was a bit off. Regardless it was better than season 3’s opener.

There were a few things that stood out to me, the first being the appearance of Twilight’s Alicorn magic. Did anyone else notice its appearance was strangely similar to that dark magic that Sombra uses? Does this mean that Sombra learned Alicorn magic somehow, but then why was it labeled as dark? Is Alicron magic actually dark? Trixie did seem pretty evil when she wore the Alicron necklace.

This episode also confirmed that Celestia and Luna didn’t create the elements of harmony further cementing the fact that they aren’t all powerful. “Seriously people, stop making them gods already.” Hell after this episode I believe that the Tree of Harmony is what granted them the ability to raise the sun and the moon in the first place. Just think about it, there’s a sun and moon emblem on the TOH.

The tree of harmony probably controlled everything in Equestria, including the raising the sun and the moon, until Celestia and Luna took the elements from it which weakened it. It only had enough power left to keep the Everfree from going berserk. I’m also under the impression that Celestia and Luna may have been born from the tree as well. Discord is the spirit of Chaos while The Tree of Harmony is the spirit of Harmony. I’m guessing at one point Discord was probably something similar to that of the tree until it got a vessel to move about in. The tree probably responded by making Celestia and Luna to put it in check.

Anyway, just food for thought. I’m not much for analyzing shit, but that stuff did stand out to me. I’m sure the fandom is running wild with ideas after this episode. Oh and in celebration of the new season here’s a picture I wiped up of Split Second.

The Power Ponies episode is the one I’m looking forward to the most. I love a good super hero parody, so bring it on. This also seems like a good time to let everyone know I’ll be hosting a sort of follower competition. The prize isn’t anything grand, but some people may like it. I figure every 25 followers I’ll pick someone at random to draw their own OC for. I’ll draw whatever kind of pony you want; it will probably be in a similar style to what you see above, you know something simple. So at 275 is when I’ll pick the first winner, and we’ll continue from there.

As for story news, I’m currently working on AZD chapter 17. I’m about 5k in and I’ll do my damndest to get it out before the end of the month. In fact if everything goes as I see it, there’s only about 5 possibly 6 chapters left of AZD. Since I can see the end I’m going to focus only on this story, to get it done. No more two month wait periods. So my DS readers hold on a bit please.

Finally I picked up this little baby last week.

Yes it’s one sexy piece of hardware, and I’m not even a sony guy. I wanted the Xbone but I’m a cheapskate and couldn’t part with 500 hundred for a gaming a system, especially since you’re forced to buy that shitty kinect. But if anyone wants to add me on PSN my GT is SonSon_Sensei
Well have a good day everyone.

I too thought it was weird about Twilight's magic, although i thought it was weirder that Zecora just happen to have a potion that required Alicorn magic to use that would allow Twilight to see the past:rainbowhuh:

Grats on the PS4 I plan on getting one sometime in 2014 and ignore the Xbone for the most part Microsoft just let me down to many times the last 2 years, and if you like my PSN id is Grahf-0

1539613 Yes Zecora's deus ex machina potion. Why the hell would she have something like that? Did she brew it up on the off chance that one of the 4 alicorns in existence, would just happen to need to look into the past, in case of a crisis?

The reason I mostly want an Xbone is to play Killer Instinct, damn console exclusive. But yeah I haven't touched my ps3 in like a year, whenever I dust it off I'll add you.

1539645 well PS4 and PS3 I think use the same PSN friends list

1539653 My accounts aren't connected, I made an entirely new account when I got the Ps4, So I could get the free PS Plus trial, to hold me off until black Friday, when it will only be 30 bucks.

I made a few remarks about the dark / alicorn magic thing:

Why wouldn't King Sombra want in on that sweet alicorn magic? It totally lets him brainwash his kingdom with fear and become a crystal monster and such. In his mind, he deserved the power anyways. Maybe he had a similar relationship with Sunbutt like Sunset, only he got away with more illegal research.

The response from someone else:

It would just seem weird for Celestia and Luna to basically be using 'evil' magic to control the sun and the moon, and/or why they aren't corrupted like Sombra (or why Twilight hasn't exhibited the same problems since she stated using 'Alicorn' magic before she was an Alicorn)

My response to that response:

I just think it's strange they (DHX) or she used it all past the battle with Sombra. I mean, it's gotta have more to it for her to use it again. Hm... maybe it's what 'mental' magic looks like, since Sombra used it mostly for manipulating the crystal ponies. In this case, Twilight used it to activate a potion that would give her a psychic vision (or whatever that was).

The alicorn amulet:

Herm... maybe the Alicorn Amulet is powered by... mental magic? Think about it; Trixie's eyes were red and misty at times, and the amulet causes insanity. Maybe it burns away the wearers mind as a source of added power; since it's being broken down, the green of the energy turns red (since the yellow and blue that make up the green are basically gone). It can't be physically removed because of some low-key curse that effects whoever touches it to make them THINK it can't be removed, like a Jedi mind trick. It only effects ponies outside the wearer themself, so they're able to get around that curse.

Just some random theories I came up with.

Discord could have simply remove the vines with his magic (he actually proved to be able to). Maybe he wanted the Mare Six were forced to give back their Elements to the Tree to avoid being turned into stone again in case the "reformation" didn´t worked for him at the long run.
