I'm not dead you guys!
Okay, so I've been really stressed recently, but I'm getting back into writing MLP fanfiction. I dug around in my files and stumbled across A New Nightmare, and frick, a spark of inspiration hit me and I had an 'I can DO this!' episode. Yay!
I think I'm going to start updating sooner, but guys, I'm not sure if I can honestly promise. I've been writing a LOT recently, working on a novel, (Well, more than one, but I have a main project that I'm working on,) and I've been doing a lot of studying. (I hate you, Math. Why do you reduce me to tears every time I try to open your secrets.) But I'm sort of getting back into My Little Pony again, especially since the new episodes came out today~
I won't lie and say I'm too busy all the time, it's more like I'm doing other 'fun time things', so when I want to write I feel drained. I've been reading a lot, practicing violin, drawing, I'm also in Martial Arts, and I leave there close to tears every week, ugh. I have a bad leg, I messed it up badly last winter.
Also, quick question. Is my writing too, um, do I use too much purple prose? I try not to, but I also try not to be bland, and I'M satisfied with the way I do it, but someone told me I was way too fancy, and I want to hear your opinions.
From what I can tell, purple prose is just a result of not wanting to use the same key words over and over. Or at least, that's how it is for me.
In the interest of keeping the reading fresh and engaging, I refrain from repeating the same words over and over. My mind thinks of synonyms constantly while writing, and then I have to figure out how to fit them into sentences that fit comfortably into the story. In fact, coming up with alternatives for words and sentences to put them in is one of the biggest parts of my writing process. Then again, that's just me.
Personally, I'm generally comfortable with purple prose. It may just be part of your writing style, and if so that's fine. You probably shouldn't try to force your style to be anything outside of what come naturally or comfortably.
1533735 That makes sense, I can't stand it when I repeat words or lines, and that does happen when I don't pay attention, or take to long to think about what I'm going to type next. Thank you,
1533735 I'm the same way. Sometimes when I write, I think up ways of saying things that I didn't even know I knew. Though, often when I know I need a differntword than the last dozen, I turn to the thesaurus. It's probably one of my top sights right now...
Glad to have you back
