My car is dead, part II: The Quickening: Electric Boogaloo · 2:29am Nov 14th, 2013
Remember when I said my car was dead? Well, we got it fixed. And then it started having the same problem. So we got it fixed again. And right as I got my first paycheck, it had the problem again. All we can tell is that it seems to have something to do with the transmission, which would cost more to fix than I can afford.
Back to driving my parents' car. It's only two years old, but with my natural aura it'll probably burst into flames the minute it hits the freeway.
...
If anyone ever wondered why I hate my life, this is a good part of it.
If you have the time watch some MST3K. That'll get you r mind off it.
Not to make light of your situation, but your car troubles sounds like the character Harry Dresden. Lol, are you a wizard?
I wish I could offer advice, but my car-knowledge goes only as far as "kick it to fix it" or "beat it with a wrench until it works". As for your parents' car bursting into flames, if that ACTUALLY happens, please tell me. I'll add it to my record books under "Top List of HIGHLY Improbable Things That Have Happened". Other than that, I can only say that keeping a positive outlook on life can make all the difference. sometimes we just gotta face our problems with a sigh, and then just move on while keeping a smile.

Im sure I have heard of that book... is that the one where thers this guy stalking him home and attacks him?

Yes. The last time I did that, it broke even more. Just like my computer did.

If being a failure and the universe's whipping boy qualifies me for wizardry, then I suppose so.

Lol he's the main character in a series called the Dresden Files. And I'm pretty sure there was a stalking incident or two throughout it. Along with many other mishaps involving cars.
And if I may say, there's a couple of fantastic crossovers here on the site with FiM and Dresden.
planned obsolesces.....
Are you taking it to a mechanic you trust, or "brand" mechanic shop? Because if it's the later they are not fixing your car.

My parents (despite me reminding them of how they ripped them off before) insisted we use the dealership's mechanics. So no wonder the thing never got really fixed. And I had almost no say since they were helping to pay for the repair.
What year, make and model is said car? I can hopefully provide some assistance or diagnose what's wrong with it.

Damn.
They WILL wreck the car. They deliberately do shoddy work so you will have to come back, until the broken part is unfixable. I have had this happen. I don't suppose a random person on the internet's opinion will in any way sway your folks?

A 2000 Hyundai Accent. I'm not sure exactly what the mechanical issue is, but when the car starts cold in the morning, it won't shift gears until after about thirty minutes of driving, at which point the RPM starts jumping up and down until I stop. After that, it runs with no issue for the rest of the day.

Ah...right. A Hyundai before they started making really, really good cars. That isn't helping...but...it's a 13 year old toaster that has outlived its useful period. The advice is to ditch it when you have the means to do so...because anything remotely related to the electronics on those era hyundais are going to get worse and get more expensive...same with everything else.
