NaNoWriMo: Week One · 3:30pm Nov 8th, 2013
So I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, and I'm already behind schedule and feeling burnt out. At the end of week one.
Ha, ha, ha, I'm doomed.
Also, and unrelated, I just figured out that I can unsubscribe to group forum thread updates without completely leaving a group, which is awesome. Because there are groups where I am interested in the stories added but the forum discussions, uh, leave something to be desired? Yeah. That.
*Is also massively doomed*
;_;
Godspeed, DonDon
Lemme guess: the Shipping group? :p I've had thread notifications deactivated for that group for months now. It really does improve the quality of your life.
' Wrimo is all about embracing the burnout, apologizing to your sanity, and squeezing the words out no matter how much it burns...
That being said, I've never personally finished the challenge - so take it with several salt licks. Best of luck with that, though.
And I'm glad the forum-blocking is working out for you now. I remember being irrationally giddy when I figured out that trick myself.
Don't worry, we've hired someone to stand outside your place and shout the contents of the Shipping group's forum threads to you so you won't miss a thing!
All this relief is making me want to investigate the Shipping group's forum, if just for the lulz.
Wait, how do you determine which notifications you get from groups? Do you get to decide from which groups, specifically, you get a certain type of notification? I've actually looked for an option like that a couple of times, but I haven't been able to find it.
There's actually groups I want to be in but don't want a notification every time a story is added to these groups. So I'm a bit in the opposite camp from your situation, but any info you have would be nice.
I tried NaMo once. I last 1 week and then stopped writing for three months. It's not for me.
Not that I get time to write these days.
Good luck, man.
Yeah, you rarely get it done the first year, just keep plugging at it.

Will do!

Thanks! I made it to the end, but I didn't even come close to the 50k words goal. Oh, well. I'm glad I did it.

If you go to the group's main page, there's a button called "Settings" near the top of the screen. Under Settings, you'll find two check boxes, one for story notifications and one for thread notifications. You can uncheck one or both.
Hope that helps!

It is an Experience, to be sure. If you do go spelunking, good luck!

Bwa ha ha!

Thanks! It did go well. Gave me a solid chunk to work with and build on, which I'm happy about.
And yeah, it's been really helpful, even if just paring down notifications to a somewhat sane number.

Noooooo--yes. It was totally the Shipping group.

"DonDon." I dig it! And thank you.

Holy crap, six weeks?
1661353
Yeah, I know. It felt rude not to respond, though, despite it having been so long since I last logged in.
1661306
Yeah, I did find it in the meantime, but thanks for the response.

Of course! Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but glad it all worked out anyway.
