And Then There Were Ponies Lives · 3:23am Nov 1st, 2013
Thought I'd fallen off the face of the earth did you? Well I suppose I gave you good reason to think so. Regardless I do exist, and no I haven't given up on "And Then There Were Ponies." As for what I said about writing one shots... screw it. I've decided I'm not big on writing them. Writing something with a longer and more developed story is more up my alley, and hopefully more up yours too if you are at all a fan of mine.
Anyway, I have come to announce that I plan to rewrite "And Then There Were Ponies." I appreciate the encouragement of a handful of people who seemingly derived pleasure from my work, but the closer to the end I got the less sense it made to me, given the setup I established. Thus, I think it will be more satisfying for everyone, if I start from scratch. And I do mean scratch. This isn't a few words here or there changing. The new fic will not even have the same title. I think "And Then There Were Ponies" is kind of a cool title but, it implies too much about which version of how the humans got to be were they were is the truth. I want that to be ambiguous thus a new title is needed. I'm not positive of what this title will be for now I'm thinking "Twilight's Kingdom."
So you may be asking yourself, if the title is changing, what will remain the same? Statistically you are probably more likely asking yourself, "What is for dinner?" or "Should I replay Mass Effect or Fallout 3 next?" but I'm going to pretend that isn't the case. Anyway the answer to said question is not much. The themes will remain the same. The conflict over what to do with these humans that the ponies may or may not have kicked out of their world will remain the same. Walter will still exist and be basically the same. However the 5 doctors, the robot, that whole weird programming thing, and several other things are being completely discarded. I've decided that for this story to convey what I really want it to, a more sympathetic villain is needed. Also some parts of the old plot were either needlessly complicated, or needlessly weird. Indeed, this change is so significant, I will put it as a new story on Fimfiction without fear of moderation action because it will be just that different.
However with what does remain the same, I am hoping all those who enjoyed the previous iteration will enjoy this one as well. If not then the old "And Then There Were Ponies" was just a fluke, and I'm sorry I couldn't reproduce it for you. Oh, and while I have no idea what you are having for dinner you should replay both.
