Official Overlord-Flinx Contest. · 1:08am Oct 31st, 2013

I now have the time, resources, and money to do what I've always wanted to do... Have an actual contest for you all to play in. You all know how much I LOVE seeing people be creative or thinking. So, let's make a game out of it, shall we? You will all be free to compete in my game for fabulous prizes. What prizes you ask? Let me tell you:

Four First Place Winners will have a choice between $50 (Albeit, I'll need to figure out how to distribute that... I'm sure I'll get my paypal to do it some how, heh. But the money is assured). OR they can have a colab/story written by me for them about whatever they want. Details for that must be discussed.

Four Runners-Up will receive honorable mention and a small gift from me come Christmas.

Doesn't that just sound fun? Now, perhaps you're interested in what the contest is. I'll tell you!

The Contest:

A choice-

-Draw a picture depicting one or more of the four holiday spirits (I'll explain who they are at the end)

-Write a story about one or more of the four holiday spirits.

-Make a piece of fan art of one of my stories.

-Write a continuation or spin-off of one of my stories.

That's it! That's all you have to do.

Deadline- December 20th.

Now, if you're interested in what the "Four holiday spirits" are, I'll let you know. See, I love the holidays... That's why I want to make four lovable characters for the holidays. Dagran the Ram who depicts St. Patrick's Day, Mortis the Headless Horse who depicts Halloween, Saint Hooves the Reindeer who depicts Christmas, and Athena the Serpent who depicts Valentine's Day. It's up to you to do with that whatever you wish... But that's why you can do the third and fourth option. MUCH EASIER.

Anyway... Good luck! And if you're going to compete, you need to tell me. No black horses...

I am so in on this! :pinkiehappy:

who are the holiday spirits? explain them in more detail please

Oh my.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Time to plan! AWAYYYYYYYY!

~Skeeter The Lurker

Well, I'll try my hand at this. Not sure how great it will come out, but I will definitely make an attempt regardless.

Oh, and do we have to pick which of the 4 choices we will attempt right now?

Soo…the animal of Valentines day is a serpent.

:unsuresweetie:

I can already imaging her personality...

1467681 Dagran the Ram who depicts St. Patrick's Day- He's unable to talk given that he wears a very thick guard over his mouth, resulting in everything he says to be "mmm". He's very sweet, kind, and always looking at the bright side... However, he's also very easily depressed and takes the smallest thing very personally.

Mortis the Headless Horse who depicts Halloween- Speaks only in rhyme and carries his decapitated head at his side. He's far from a polite creature, rather using his time to scare people and play tricks on them. Have you ever seen two glowing green spots in the corner of your eyes? That's him watching you.

Saint Hooves the Reindeer who depicts Christmas- He's... He's Santa. What more do you need to know except "He's God-Dang Santa"?!

Athena the Serpent who depicts Valentine's Day- A loving, warm snake that just really enjoys making people get close and share in love. She's very affectionate and supports anyone. However, she does tend to be overly cutesy with everyone; referring to them by "pet names".

1467712 No. I just need to know you're going to try.

1467720
…Do we have to follow these rules (their personalities) of the 4 spirits exactly, or can we modify them as we please?:rainbowderp:

1467720
Well, the headless horse is out for me, cant rhyme. At all. I will think about the others. Do you have to publish the story?

1467728 I... Suppose you don't HAVE to. But... Why wouldn't you? :unsuresweetie:

1467725 Do as you please.

1467732
Because I will make it specifically for you. No one else gets the privilege

1467732 Does this mean that, if I were to make a story about ol' Morty there, I wouldn't necessarily have to have him speak in rhyme?

1467826 If you want... Granted, you ARE on a grading scale. You can't get first prize with half-baked efforts.

Sorry everybody, but it looks like the game is over already since 1467679 wants to participate.

1468217
It's a joke of mine.
I know RainbowBob writes really well and often.

1468234
You and your 60 stories.

Well and this could be fun.
Count me in.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!

1467865 I call BS. Ever seen "Slumdog Millionaire?" The protagonist was half-baked and he won.

I am so in on this - brb browsing one of your stories to make a continuation/spin-off.

Sounds like I got me some writing to do. Sure hope you got some dark stories in the storage.

Alright sure.

1475349 One or two.

1475376 Hm... Two titans fighting in the contest? Now we have a show. :trixieshiftright:

1475464 there are two titans fighting? where?

Can the four spirits fics be one shots?

Oh. I thought these "Four holiday spirits" would be like, the Ghosts of Christmas or something... and I was thinking, weren't there just three of those fellas?:derpytongue2:

1475493 Sure, why not?

1475487 Everday in my heart.

1475658 2manyfeels4me

Does a song count as fan-art?

1475681 Hm... I suppose I didn't consider that... By all acounts, yes, music is a form of art.

1475698 sweet. Oh and, mind if we collab? Assuming if we manage to win we split one reward?

I might take a shot at this.

How long does the fanfic about the holiday spirit(s) need to be? Is there any set minimum/maximum on the number of words? Does it need to have a specific tone? Are we free-reign to depict the spirit how we want (color, size, shape, etc) within reasonable boundaries, or do you have a specific image in mind that we have to work with?

Once I get those answers, I'll more than happily join in on this contest!

1475775 I suppose there is no fault in that.

1476636 Those answers are for you to answer. However, it is a contest... You should assume already that you should try and put your best foot forward.

1476736 Yeah, I get that. I wasn't planning on half-assing it, naturally! :ajsmug:
But I wasn't sure if there was some sort of 'template' we needed to start with, or if it was simply a 'clean-slate' kind of deal. :derpytongue2:

1476745 I'm always a follower of "anything goes".

1476760 Oh, and just for clarification:

By "Mortis the Headless Horse who depicts Halloween," you mean Nightmare Night, right?
Same goes for the others:
"Saint Hooves the Reindeer who depicts Christmas," should be Hearth's Warming Eve.
"Athena the Serpent who depicts Valentine's Day," would likewise be Hearts n' Hooves Day.
Right?

1476729 Duly noted. Added to to-do list. :pinkiehappy: (ooooh this is going to be fun)

It has been far too long since I did a contest, let alone doing some art, I'm in.

Does interpretive dance count as a valid art form?

I might give this a try. I think I'll draw the four of them. Now if only I could draw, I might have a chance at winning.

Anyway, those spirits and descriptions, you made up right? I don't want to draw them and end up having them look nothing like what they're suppose to look like, lol.
-Reader Out-

I like the "4 holiday" entities idea. Even if I don't get it done by the deadline, I'd like to use one or more of these.

Can I get more background on the holiday spirits?

Also, this is me join the competition.... if I still can that is.
