Equinox

Okay. So. Time of horrid stress over; short break done. Updates to That Sunlit Glow within the week. Thank you, commentators; I don't think I'll ever actually be properly happy with it, but provided I can be at least content, I'm hoping to send it to EQD.

The next thing on my plate is a larger piece currently titled Equinox, about Luna's difficulty readjusting to the world after her thousand-year exile. Her manner and her attitudes are painfully archaic, along with her tastes, and even the aristocrats who might be expected to cozy up to anypony with that much power are drifting away from her as she intentionally alienates them. Worse, her understanding of history is fractured and misguided, influenced more by the dreams she absorbed during her millennial slumber than by any true history, and her obsession with the past is tethering her to the larger dream of a world that no longer exists.

In response, her sister suggests the creation of the Order of the Brightly-Shining Stars, a group of intellectuals and artists. Their duties include educating the Princess of the Night on the history of the time of her exile, helping her to come to terms with new trends and fashions, and being her escorts, guides and companions as she reintegrates into a society which still hasn't wholly forgiven her. And helping her to tone down the Royal Canterlot Voice, naturally.

(She's not, at the moment, planning to blow up any microwaves, but there's always time.)
