Irons in the Fire · 4:26pm Oct 16th, 2013
So many irons.
October is halfway through. I'm not halfway through with One-Shotober.
That doesn't mean I haven't been working, and it doesn't necessarily mean I'm not finishing. (It's increasingly unlikely I will, but I'm trying not to publish things I'm not happy with yet. I could probably do a crackfic or ten and get caught up, but I want my stuff to mean something, even if it only means something to me.)
Here's some stuff I'm working on (and am at least partway done with; nothing here is just in the idea phase):
Lyra Needs Help- This is the big one. If I can pull this one off, it'll be beautiful. Lyra sees things and doesn't trust anypony enough to talk about it. Takes place firmly at the corner of paranoia and conspiracy, with the bulk of the fic narrated by a mare who doesn't trust herself or the 'reader'.
Lovestruck's Story- A campfire story about changelings, narrated by a changeling nymph that isn't certain if she's as bad as the stories but suspects she might be.
What's Cloudsinger's Problem? or, How Rainbow Dash Met Fluttershy- weird trans headcanon stuff, largely about expectations other people lay on you when you're not who they think you are.
Celestia's Story Time- Celestia tells her faithful student about pre-Equestrian history in the context of a bedtime story after Twilight decides that the princess's foalhood friends must have been myths.
What's in a Name?- a pony tries to put words to the discomfort they feel every time they hear their own name.
Home for the Holidays- Twilight and AJ visit Twi's parents for Hearth's Warming Eve and they both have to confront unstated assumptions about tribe and family and what it means to be a pony.
The Day We Knew Was Coming- Granny Smith isn't young anymore. She's getting sick more and more, and every time it takes her longer to bounce back. Pretty soon she won't bounce back at all, and her grandchildren decide they have to get some things off their chest before she isn't around to hear them. Her response isn't what you'd think. Finished!
Where Do Rainbows Come From?- Rainbow Dash meets a sister she never knew she had and a mother who she never knew she needed.
Saying Goodbye- Screw Loose tries to find a way to say goodbye to her best friend, because they're changing her medication and she won't be able to see Pinkie Pie anymore. Pinkie is imaginary, you see, but that doesn't mean she's not important. Finished!
A few other fics are in the works, but not as far along as these. If you want to see one of these more than others, let me know and I'll try to prioritize it.
SAYING GOODBYE AND THE DAY WE KNEW WAS COMING MUST BE MADE!

Good news! Saying Goodbye basically just needs some editing on my part and a second pair of eyes to make sure I didn't accidentally write a clopfic without knowing it.
And The Day We Knew Was Coming is probably my favorite non-Lyra story out of the bunch, I'm just worried that it'll alienate readers.

I-I don't have any words to describe how many of these stories I'm going to try patiently waiting for.

I will try not to disappoint.
