Recommendations: Cloud Wander, archonix · 6:07pm Oct 6th, 2013

I was going to write this more carefully and after reading more archonix stories, but Cloud Wander just posted a new story minutes ago, "Today I am a Monster".

The latest Seattle's Angels review introduced me to two writers: Cloud Wander and archonix. I read several stories by CW, mostly adorable Cake twin stories. I'd heard so many people recommend Cloud Wander that I assumed he wrote popular stuff that I didn't need to read. Well, his stories as "popular" in that they are sweet and have the flavor of the show. But they're also clever and well-written. He has 8 stories on Equestria Daily. Shockingly, he only has 232 followers. Who follows him? I see the avatars of RBDash47, DPV111, Cold in Gardez, Chris, McPoodle, D G D Davidson, horizon, Benman, Georg, and GhostOfHeraclitus. All the cool ponies [1]. So follow him if you have any sense of justice. Unfortunately he is not evil at all, although this "Monster" story might show us something new along those lines.

I've only read the one story by archonix, "To be a Mule", but it is masterfully written, and I expect his other stories to be good too. (Even if they are written about mules rather than good, respectable ponies.)

(The featured box looks good today.)

Well, of course I'm not one of the cool ponies. I'm human, you see.

...wait...does that mean I'm a human in Equestria?! :raritycry:

CW definitely deserves more attention, and I definitely need to read archonix's work.

If the names:

Jeeves and Wooster mean anything to you, please, please, please read Cloud Wander's "The Rummy Business of Old Blooey." Even if the names don't mean anything to you, the story has a paragraph in the middle that contains the most beautiful description of Princess Celestia I've ever read.

Argh! I've had "The Rummy Business of Old Blooey" on read-later for absolutely ever. Gyarr.

1400584 Time to bump it to the top. It's worth it. This one's pretty darned good too.

I once made the mistake of renting a season's worth of Wooster and Jeeves to watch while I was doing something else[1]. Turns out I didn't do the "something else" until the whole season was done. And I didn't mind a bit.

(1) Mind out of the gutter please.

I'm pretty sure:

"Old Blooey" is the first story for which I was able to force my Fluttershy tendencies to the side and actually leave a comment on its EqD page. I still see the story in my mind's eye all as one single Google doc page, too... :twilightblush:
