My Car, She Be Dead · 2:45am Oct 1st, 2013
I decided to skip my usual post last week, 'cause I really didn't have anything worth talking about.
Do now.
So my Dad spends $600 getting my car's brakes replaced before my trip to Houston. All good, right? I'm doing just fine. No, no I'm not. My first paycheck came in on Saturday, and I instantly pay an overdue credit card bill. And this morning? My camshaft breaks while I'm on I-10 heading to work, amongst all the horrible traffic. I've been broke all this time and hadn't had time to get a cell phone with my paycheck, so I gotta trudge to the nearest open store and call my cousin to come bring me to work. There's no time to take care of my poor car, so of course the Houston police find it, call it in and it gets towed to the nearest impound. I had to spend money to get it out, spend money to get a phone so I wouldn't be stuck in this situation again, and spend money for the private tow truck company to bring my dead car back to my place from the impound.
So yeah, in three days I blew through pretty much all of my very first paycheck, and almost all of it was spent today. If money is truly the root of all evil, I'm bordering on sainthood right now.
Screw it. I was gonna wait six months to get a new car, but I'm not gonna waste money getting this car fixed just for the next who-knows-what to strand me on the side of the road. Now I have to carpool with a coworker, the only one close enough to do so with me, and next week he's leaving for almost two weeks. I need a car NOW, dammit, and I'm gonna get one.
But my poor, poor wallet...
That sucks a ton bro. I have a minivan if you want it.

Heh, no thanks. I already know what I'm getting to replace Old Faithful. My parents will shake their heads and say "What were you thinking?" Appreciate the offer, though.
