Devourer of Words

I look at the new words-read counter on my user page with a mix of pride, embarrassment, and awe. Ten million words is....quite a lot. I went for a very long time without reading extensively until I broke down and started reading ponyfiction. Reading was for ages my favourite form of entertainment, but I let it slip. Television took over. Thanks to my mobile (and 4G - yay) I can pull up fimfiction at will. Jumping between worlds....Experiencing the visions of all the authors....These are why I've always loved reading. With the way this place works, we add in the depth of linking to other media, adding reader input, and - most wondrous of all - watching authors grow and share their creative inspirations. In the last decade or so, all I've written is reports and a handful of training manuals. My creative ability has atrophied beyond the restorative powers of mere mortals. I can't add my stories to this fandom. I'm, in fact, far too shy to make the attempt. All I can do - and all I'll continue to do - is read, experience, comment, critique, and correct. If others are so much braver than I that they might put forth their imaginations, the least I can do is continue to explore them. Here's to another ten million words from this marvelous fandom.
