Rule 34 Updates resuming June 2016

I need to take a temporary leave of absence from the Rule 34 updates. I'll be back in a couple of months and will strive to have 3 months worth of data to discuss. In the meantime, please enjoy these pictures of shaved horses:

ClubMan8 asked if my controversial movie and book spotlight would also include Cannibal Holocaust, since it includes footage of real animals being tortured and killed.

I have no interest in a film which includes the torture and death of animals. The director of Cannibal Holocaust assured his critics that the killed animals were later cooked and eaten by the film crew. He reasoned that since they were going to be slaughtered anyways, filming the deaths was somehow more excusable.

A certain mindset is required to actually get through filming the torture and death of an animal... and then go on to film another... and then film another... and still more... and then, edit the footage into the film before releasing it to the world, animal violence and all, as the personal statement it was clearly meant to be. Those are the actions of someone who does not believe that what he's doing is wrong.

I will not watch Cannibal Holocaust because I feel that it crossed a line with its cruelty towards animals. I had a difficult enough time sitting through Kingdom of the Spiders.

I can write about sickening violence, but it's all pretend. It turns my stomach to know that actual living spiders were killed for my entertainment.

Can't we all just live in peace?

Interestingly enough, I watched Cannibal Holocaust the other day. I think it was wonderfully made, if in a sadistic way.

Speaking of movies, even though this one if far more tame in comparison, what are your thoughts on Donnie Darko?

Those are the actions of someone who does not believe that what he's doing is wrong.

Reminds me of a person who would quote, "There is no wrong, only what we perceive as wrong." There is a fine line between killing an animal for sadistic entertainment and for the sole purpose of eating it. One's a reflection of your character, the other's something that nature intended you to do. Now here comes the debate...

Bleh, my opinion aside... I have no idea why we can't live in peace.

Good set of morals.

If it fake, bring it on...

Real? Fuck that.

You just get better and better, you know that?

Wasnt the film director for that film almost sentenced to prison?

I didn't think a movie like this could actually get released. :rainbowhuh: But hey, I've seen worse.

the killed animals were later cooked and eaten by the film crew. He reasoned that since they were going to be slaughtered anyways, filming the deaths was somehow more excusable.

...What the fuck.

Also, holy jesus banana bitch fuck my username was mentioned in a Bronystories blog post. :pinkiegasp: :pinkiehappy:

He was, on account of people accusing "Cannibal Holocaust" of being a snuff film due to the scene where the film crew of the Movie are hunted down and killed by a tribe of cannibals. The whole thing Went to Court where the director (Ruggero Deodato) had to bring in the actors to prove they were still alive. But yeah, he did face prison time at one Point. Pretty cool story in my opinion.

I remember the first (and only) time I saw that Movie. Had a couple of friends over for no reason, and then the turtle scene came (anyone who's seen CH knows exactly which one I'm talking about). Needless to say, some choice Words were uttered, and some people lost their appetite for the evening.

I've gotta wonder, have you ever seen Begotten?

I know that I hate animals more than anything in this world, but filming the torture and killing of them is inexcusable!

I've watched some of CH (around the same time I tried to watch Salo, and I didn't manage to get all the way through either.)

I'm not going to try to delve into any moral justification for what was done -- there isn't one. Mostly, I was trying to watch it precisely because I've been curious about films that were censored, banned, or otherwise despised generally.

What I saw of it, and I say this with a certain amount of detachment, made for a really shitty film. I don't know if it just aged very badly, or was really that terrible to begin with. I'm leaning towards the latter, but of course I can't really know.

I have a pet tarantula, watching a few of the scenes of Kingdom of the Spiders was a little painful.
