For those of you who don't know (i.e. all of you) I am a regular poster over on Ponychan. Today we were having a conversation (read: stupid internet argument) about Equestria Girls. Someone was complaining about how people didn't like it because of the high school setting, and how hypocritical that was because Suited For Success revolves around fashion and ends with a fashion show, and is almost universally regarded as one of the best episodes in the entire series (and one of the major reasons for Rarity love). I noted to them that it really has nothing to do with the setting, that the actual problems with the movie were due not to the premise, but to the terrible execution. I noted that the show made watching paint dry entertaining.
And then I realized that this totally needed to be made into an image macro, though I used MMDW and TCE rather than Equestria Girls for added sake of contrast and how what makes the show good isn't the setpieces, but the writing, dialogue, and characterization.
That's... wow.
