    I'm the worst :D

    I know! Terrible.

Just popping in for my periodic State of the Dancer, you know how I do.

Previously, I was lamenting my lack of free time due to the whole working full time and having my smol child. I decided to add to that by rebooting the soap business.

    Oh hey

Wow, been a hot minute, eh?

I've missed this site. Last year, I went through Some Shit over the summer and fall, and then I got engaged in November to a very nice man.

We get married in five days, and I had noticed a lot of registry gifts coming in all of a sudden with real names attached that I did not recognize.

My sapient ass is making a blog post · 9:40pm Aug 23rd, 2013

While talking to Lord Sunder and mocking the way the English name things (honestly, 'cooker'? How goddamned non-specific can you get? Technically, my car's dashboard on a hot day can be a 'cooker'), he mentioned how refreshing it is that I use 'sapient' and 'sentient' correctly.

A LOT OF YOU FUCKERS DON'T

So here we go:

Sentient/Sentience: Able to perceive or feel things.

Sapient/Sapience: The ability to think and reason, finely sensitive in perception or feeling.

While sapient beings are also sentient, sentient beings are not always sapient.

Example:

Sapient:

Sentient:

One has the ability to think, reason, and retain memories and learn from them. The other is Twilight Sparkle a duckling.

1304298 I remember I made a group for that long ago.

Only has ten people or something.

It saddens me.

If your ass is sapient, does that mean I need to apologise to it? :pinkiehappy:

1304299 :(

1304301 You made my ass happy, so no apologies are needed at all :rainbowwild:

1304306 do schmoopy got a booty?

schmoopy doooooo

I've mentioned this before.
This distinction is not often made and needs to be made more often.

1304312 it does

I weep when I see it done incorrectly

weep I say

I can say with great pride and dignity that I would love to marry your sapient ass~ :pinkiecrazy:

1304315
You can get in line behind Erickilla :rainbowdetermined2:

1304327 And who is he behind :3

1304327 The more the merrier~ :trollestia:

The duck thinks, we just don't know it yet.

1304340 no

1304342 to the post or the comments, because both are fairly 'wat' i suppose

I feel obliged to point out that it has been proven multiple times that animals can retain memories and learn from them. Even goldfish the supposed never remember anything animals have been proven to be able to learn out of several options which one gets them food and then reproduce it months later with no reminder.

You had it right up until the end.

/crawls back into his cave.

1304680 True, but that was more for the sake of both comedy and simplicity.

#cutenessoverload

I am sapient, but my designer was unable to incorporate sentience.

1599855 I fail to follow your logic.

1599863 that's what you get

(I'm sleepy, you can probably safely ignore me :p)
