Merry Christmas! (Also, news and gifts...)

    Hello, Every pony!

Wow, what a year it has been, but it has been a good one for me, and I hope it's been a good year for all of you! Can't believe that the series is now over, except for that Pony Life thing, but meh, you all know what I mean.

Anyway, here's some news, which I'm wondering how some of you will take... I may be working on a new story.

    Writing Soundtrack

Nothing beats writing an (hopefully) epic battle scene than listening to songs from the newest Sabaton album 😀

For those that write, do you listen to music while writing, or do you prefer to write in silence?

Hope to get another chapter out within a month or two :pinkiehappy:

    I'm Back

It's been nearly 4 years since the last update, and much has changed for me since then. Been to Uni, got a job, left that job, got a GF, started a career in reenacting, and much more besides.

Doctor Who? · 10:50am Aug 4th, 2013

Today is a big day for us Doctor Who fans, as today at 7pm, British time on BBC One, they will announce who will be the twelfth Doctor, replacing Matt Smith.

If any of you are fans of Doctor Who, who do you think it will be? Someone we don't know? A female Doctor, the first female Doctor? An older actor, or a younger one?

Either way, I am so nervoucited about it.

I'd love it to be a female Doctor, but then again there's the whole thing where if they make too huge and sudden a change they will likely harm the ratings.

There's also the issue of the Valeyard. We're not sure if he's the 12th, a separate offshoot that sort of gets separated from the 12th, or the 13th - official sources have claimed he's the 12th, 12.5, and 13th at different times and different sources.

Or whether or not 12th is actually Doc's 13th regeneration, given that John Hurt is the Lost Doctor/True Ninth, the Doc who fought at the forefront of the Time War, leading Gallifrey's fleets into battle, the one that Christopher's 9th was 'running' from, and the reason why he was the Coward Doctor, being so afraid of himself and what he'd done.

So, if that's the case (12th being the 13th) and the new Doc is the Valeyard, it'll have to be male. No idea who it could be though! My wife and I are extremely anxious to find out.

If the episode 13 of the 7th season, "The Name of the Doctor" is anything to go by, then the answer is clear: the 12th Doctor will be played by John Hurt.

Here is the scene where it is said:

Personally I think nothing will beat David Tennant's scene "I don't want to go..."

1260926 If there was a female Doctor, there is only one actress I would choose. Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones. She has such a commanding voice, and can easily play some one with a strong personality with a dark past behind them.

Hmm, yes, it is coming to that point of the Valeyard's introduction. Maybe the first story arc is the Doctor facing the Valeyard after a botched regeneration sequence that splits his personality.

And I think John Hurt's Doctor was the Eigth doctor but a bit older (I seriously hope we see the Time War if the Daleks are involved). I feel your anxiety, can't 7pm come quickly? Like waiting for the 23rd of November, the date of the anniversary special and the start of the new MLP:FIM Season. Best. Day. Ever.

1260927 I would be very surprised, and most pleased, it John Hurt was confirmed as the new Doctor. But I doubt it. The footage talks about him in the past tense, so he's been and gone, but who and what incarnation is he? Oh, hurry up, November 23rd!

If I am honest, I thought the tenth Doctor's regeneration scene was great, but the music made it truly amazing. I hope Murray has great music planned for the next one.

1260927

Can't be right. If John Hurt was the 12th Doctor, they wouldn't have been sending out invitations to try out for the role of 12th AFTER John Hurt filmed his role in The Name of the Doctor. There also wouldn't be a big reveal party happening in a few hours, because we'd already know. Not to mention that the Doctor has knowledge of John Hurt's Doctor, in the past sense.

"The name a Timelord chooses is like a promise." Name: The Doctor. To heal/save.
"What I did, I did in the name of peace and sanity." He did something questionable for the greater good.
"But you didn't do it in the name of the Doctor." Which means he broke the promise Doc made, to heal and save. The opposite of that is murder, getting his hands good and truly bloody. It was to such a degree that the Doctor actually did not consider John Hurt's regeneration to BE a 'Doctor'. But even the Doctor recognizes that John Hurt did what he had to do, he's just ashamed of and angered by it.
(Thinking that what was behind Doc's personal 'nightmare door' in the episode "Praise Him" was likely John Hurt's Doctor, considering that what ever happened between 8th and Christopher's 9th ((the Time War, canonically speaking)) turned the Doctor into an escapist coward for the duration of Christopher's run)

He also can't be the Valeyard, because Valeyard was sadistic and evil. He did nothing for peace and sanity.

Even as timey-wimey as things get, Doctor has yet to have any knowledge of future incarnations, aside from the Valeyard's existence and crimes. John Hurt can't be the 12th or the Valeyard, both of those will be played by a different actor(s). Definitely has to be the Time War Doctor... Clara finding Doc's Time War journal also kind of foreshadows it.

1260935

I actually can't stand to see the latter quarter of that episode leading up to the regeneration. I break down in tears every time. The build-up of him going about, changing time to save his friends, letting them know he was going off to his death and he'd never see them again. The Oodsong and the universe essentially shedding a psychic tear for the Doctor through it, all culminating in that last line just wrenches my heart.

1260938

I am not going to argue with you, mostly because I have nothing to say about it. Truth be told, while I am a Doctor Who fan, I haven't seen that 8th to 9th's movie about Time War. I mostly read about the whole event. I just don't have any sufficient data or means to find more about the world of the Doctor, other than internet, but that isn't quite useful if you don't know where to look. Heck I don't even know what this 'Valeyard' is.

Personally, I thought that because both Clara and the Doctor went into his time stream, and the fact that Clara saw all of Doctor's reincarnations, brought to the conclusion that John Hurt is actually the next Doctor, and as for knowing his future self's deeds, they were in the Doctor's time stream AFTER his death. It was already a paradox that an alive Doctor was literally standing on his own grave. Taking that into account it wouldn't surprise me if he had somehow accuaired this knowledge while looking for Clara inside his own time stream.

But, like I have said, I don't get any official word here about the Doctor's next performer. If it's Hurt, good, if not, well I won't be disappointed. I don't know many British actors, so I can't really tell who would be good to this role, and who wouldn't.

1260935

About the footage, like I mentioned earlier, I take into consideration the whole time paradox & time stream event as a potential source of the information for the Doctor. Just as a possibility, but weirder things happened in that show.

Yes, the music in the Doctor can sometimes be really inspiring or squeeze tears out of you at the right moments. I have actually three fav themes from the show:

Hanging On The Telephone (2:40)

All the Strange, Strange Creatures (2:11)

I am the Doctor (1:50)

1260965 You are right, weirder things have definetely happened on the show. And there isn't anything at the moment about the Time War, other than The End of Time, pieces of information scattered across the revived show, and that's about it. Hopefully we'll soon know more.

And my favourite piece of music from the new series has to be The Dark and Endless Dalek Night. Truly epic, just something to listen to as Daleks attack Earth.

1260952 It does make me wonder if the regenaration will be in the 50th, or the Christmas special. Whenever it is, it will be a heart-breaker. :fluttercry: I just hope Clara doesn't leave too soon.

I have a problem.

I want to know who is the new Doctor, but I don't want to spoil the episode :raritydespair:

Forgive me if i'm wrong but, it shouldn't be a twelfth, if we count all the regenerations (including the John Hurt and the one that he "sacrifice" in Journey's End) it give us twelve and in the last scene of "The Name of The Doctor" Clara said that she saw he's eleven faces.

1261046 Do you mean John Hurt appearing at the end of the last episode, or the actor(ress) that will replace Matt? The answer is the same for both: no one knows yet.

1261049 You might be right, but since it is stated as the twelfth, we might as well go for Doctor number 12

1261025

Christmas special was the regeneration, I believe Moffat said. Also, Clara will continue on as the 12th's companion, also officially announced.

1261093 Oh, that's good. I don't want to see them get rid of Clara so quickly after killing her off half a dozen times. The regeneration is at Christmas? Does make me wonder if the story is gonna be as big as the 50th special, and if The Master is going to show up at some point soon.

1261102 *looks him up* Oh, him from Supernatural, and CSI: NY. I like that one.

1261078 You are forgetting the rule one Moffat lies.

1261132 It is known, and he is very good at it, too. He, and the whole team, are very good at keeping secrets.

Meghan McCarthy does it as well, but not so well.

I'm pretty sure the next Doctor won't be someone that famous. John Hurt raised the bar for "most famous Doctor."

Peter Capaldi...

I just saw him on "The Fires of Pompeii" last night... I still haven't caught up with this series.

1261377 I think he will do a great job.
Funy thing about him, in the movie World War Z he interpret a W orld Health Organization doctor,

1261455

I think i will do a great job.

Uh...

1261078
I was meaning the actor for 12th Doctor. I decided to spoil it for myself :pinkiesad2:

1261377 1261455 Yes, he is the new Doctor, and I think he is going to be brilliant. :pinkiehappy: The guy is a great fan of the show, so I am hoping he'll add bits of several other Doctors that have been and gone, especially Tom Baker's; that guy was the best.

1261462 Sorry, that what happen when you are to tired to see what you are writing, but i corrected now,

Peter Capaldi

I didn't expect someone from an earlier episode would be the next doctor. We'll see how he does when it's time. I'm looking forward to the 50th anniversary. :rainbowkiss:

1265346 As am I, and I am most looking forward to seeing Capaldi as the Doctor next year. :pinkiehappy: The 50th, the christmas special and the eight series, they are going to be so awesome!
