Another night for this displaced creature of dusk. I've always been a night owl but now that I work a standard Monday through Friday nine to five style job you'd think I'd change. Well, not so much. I'm often up till late at night at the expense of sleep during the week and then catch up with it on the weekend. Only I end up staying up even later on the weekends and then sleep till mid afternoon or later. Usually not all in one go, my sleep habits aren't healthy enough for that, but it all works out. Anyway, that's just a note as to my current status of being awake and making a blog post at three am (my time, of course).
So chapter two of Quetzals and Caves is out the door. I'm happy to see that those of you who follow it have been enjoying the ride so far. I've already got the next chapter crafted, more or less, but it just needs some adjusting.
Originally chapter two was going to be over double the length of chapter one and I worried that it might disrupt the flow to have that much variance between chapters. So, working with my editor, Mourning Zephyr, I decided on a suitable breaking point and split the chapter in two. Beyond the flow issue I was concerned about it also gives me a place to put in some bits that otherwise would have been skipped by just the nature of how the chapter progressed. I'm going to hammer things together and should have the text pushed out in the next couple of weeks. This also gives me a bit of breathing room to try and keep a steady pace with updates, hopefully. The general outline of chapter four is already kicking around in my head so things should keep moving along steadily.
I have an unsubmitted piece currently sitting on here that will be showing up soon. I was thrilled that it won first place in the School for New Writers' June contest. Now that judging is complete on it I hope to have it submitted for general viewing soon.
I've already written over two thousand words for the Dark Adrenaline piece I mentioned on my profile page, too. And that's just scratching the surface. That one will likely have much weightier chapters than Q&C or perhaps even Ascension but I'm looking forward to piecing it together. I hope to have it up and visible on here in the next month or two. It's not a priority but it is something I'm having fun with.
Priorities, at this point, are to get at least the next chapter of Q&C ready to go, finish up chapter five of Ascension, and then on to more Q&C. DA will show up here or there when ready.
I've been somewhat neglecting my drawing practice lately. I need to work on that some but I think this weekend I'm going to try and stuff at least another thousand words into something. Maybe after that I'll go back to repeatedly drawing circles that occasionally turn into ponies for my deviantArt page. We'll see! I'm already one day in the hole due to having surprise company today but it's all good. Tomorrow will be devoted to productivity. And groceries. And laundry.
Huh, maybe tomorrow will be kinda busy. Still, I'll endeavor to get some creative work done so I don't feel like such a lazy gadabout.
