My First Fic Considerations · 3:13am Nov 29th, 2011

For anypony who cares, and I'm not sure who would, I'm in the process of trying my hoof at a few fanfics. I've got two ideas so far (and that's it, btw, ideas. not even outlines yet) and I'm attempting to start them up pretty soon:

1. (Unnamed Human-In-Equestria Story) - Yes, I know this has been done so much it's pretty much its own sub-genre now, but I hope to mix it up a bit with mine. Socially anxious and secluded 20-year-old college girl switches places with Twilight Sparkle through an as-of-yet undetermined Discord-related incident. Note: they will NOT be switching bodies; I don't like Freaky Friday style mix-ups, but they will be switching species.

2. Divide and Grow - Phyrexian oil corrupts Equestria. A crossover with MTG, and a hopefully cruel and very Grimdark infection of the ponies' universe inspired by New Phyrexia. This idea came about when I noticed that every single MTG crossover fic ever has had Bolas/Tezzy as the main villain, blatantly ignoring Dominaria's greatest and most dangerous foe, Phyrexia. I don't take pleasure in destroying the ponyverse, but as NPH showed us, any interaction with the Oil is not going to end happily, so don't hope for a very heartwarming ending. Or beginning. Or middle, for that matter.

Not really trying to decide which one I'll do first; I hope to get them both cranked out soon-ish. I just wanted to throw these ideas out there to see some reactions.

You're lucky you even have something to write about--I keep getting indistinct flashes of story plots, but it seems for the moment my account is going to remain empty of even any inspiration. But I do wish you luck on your endeavors--I personally like your second idea quite a lot, mostly because it's so unique.

Hello, I'm a traveling lonely blog commenter, I comment on lonely blogs :pinkiecrazy: .... Ups, this one it's no so lonely :rainbowderp:

I got tired of "human suddenly comes to save equestria from new evil" stories, yet your proposition seem interesting. Sincerely i dont know what is MTG and I don't like heavy grimdark stories; unless is 'justified' and cohesive woth the story.

Hai and see ya.

I can't say it is "justified" by any means, but the nature of the Magic the Gathering universe allows for cross planar interactions, so it is possible, at least in MtG canon. The existence/race/force that is Phyrexia is kind of a hybrid of the Borg, the Zerg, and zombie infection, all tied together with a hybrid of Pseudo-Darwinian ethics and a bizarre Manifest Destiny style religious drive. They are not an intelligent force or anything; a single drop of Phyrexian oil on a plane (read: universe) pretty much dooms the entire plane's existence. As much as I love Equestria, my morbid curisolty leads me to wonder what forms Phyrexia would take and how they would destroy both society and life in their search for "perfection" on our favorite plane.

Here's an example of before and [url=wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/New_Phyrexia_(plane)]after of what happens when Phyrexia invades a plane through one simple drop of oil over decades. Mirrodin was a beautiful plane of pure metal, full of bizzare and diverse life. In a few decades, it was completely wiped out and converted into a living hell known as New Phyrexia for the inhabitants of the plane, dissimialr in all respects from its starting point. Armies of disturbing and destructive beings almost on a Lovecraftian level of horror grew out of the oil and the raw materials around them, without any body plans or direction.
I'm sorry, but I feel like it is my duty to feed my curiosity/imagination and show what horrors could happen to Equestria if a simple drop of oil touched its soil.

I'll give you a hint on the ending: picture the End of Evangelion's last scene with Luna, all alone.
(I have the beginning and the end done; it's just the middle parts that are hard.)

Go for Phyrexia. All need to taste the power of the oil.
