    Life is short, write ponies

Sigh... I feel like a complete failure.

It was about four and a half years ago I said I was going to get back into writing, the next chapters of With Rainbow Hair and My Little Destiny were on the way, and I was going to finally finish Sibling Rivalry and get started on its sequel, Tales of Faust, which focuses mainly on Scootaloo and her new vocation.

    Return to the Fiction

I haven't written anything related to fanfiction, or any type of prose, in over five years. That's actually why I've been avoiding this site for so very long. Partially out of having nothing to actually post, but also embarrassment. At first, it was just college, but then it became something else. I love writing, and cannot believe I ever stopped. And... well rather than go into great detail, I

    Regarding Sibling Rivalry

I recently wrote a review of the Avengers, which will be posted by noontime Monday on my website. And I opened it thusly:

Sometimes, you have to know what you’re doing. Where you’re going. What your purpose is.

I never quite understood this until recently.

    Return to Sibling Rivalry

It feels like so long ago that I last wrote anything fictitious.

I actually enjoy writing. It's a great way to share your thoughts with the world. But lately most of my thoughts haven't been on the continuing adventures of fictitious ponies in the land of Equestria. Recently, I spent my time writing about Tron; Star Trek; and Littlest Pet Shop, my new favourite cartoon.

    Another cry for help!

Once again, I must put out a call for editors. Particularly this week, I’m gonna need some real a-holes to look for any and all errors in my work.

The reason I’m putting out this call once again, is that so far, I’ve failed to find any usable assistance. A problem which I detailed here.

This is all on my blog, No Prestige. But you probably already knew that.

Well, I think it's time to change things up, so I'm devoting my time to the stories I love. To start, I just released the latest chapter of Sibling Rivalry (chapter thirteen). And it surprised the hell out of me.

I said this before. All the plans in the world can change once you put a pen to paper.

And it's never been more true now.

If you haven't read the piece, do so now, because I'm about to spoil it.

Alright...

Spike is actually in love with Sweetie Belle. She's the one that's going to win out.

Sorry all Sparity shippers, it just wasn't meant to be. It was never meant to be, this is what I planned all along. From page one, the plan was for Spike to end up with Sweetie Belle, and for Rarity to be left alone, in the dust.

And I was going to reveal this in the middle of chapter 16. So why did I do it at the end of chapter 13? Because it felt right.

Let me tell you my original plan first. Basically, chapters 14 & 15 were to feature Sweetie Belle and Rarity agreeing to forgive Spike, and leave the decision in his claws. Both him and Scootaloo would then start wandering around town, as he tries to figure out what to do. In the process, Fluttershy would accidentally reveal that she has a crush on him too. He'd freak out.

Then, at the end of chapter 15, Scootaloo would trick him into simply blurting out a name, and he would. The next chapter we'd see Spike walk into the library, and everyone but Sweetie Belle and Rarity would file out. Alone with the two unicorns he would walk up to Rarity, and tell her all about how he felt. And Sweetie Belle would try to sneak out, so he wouldn't see her cry. Then he'd say, "but I'm actually in love with your si- Where'd she go?"

Sweetie Belle would run toward him, Spike would run toward her. Cue cheesy embrace, and kiss. And Rarity would congratulate the two of them, as she took her cue to leave.

But all of that's been scraped now, and I'm actually glad. I'm still not sure how any of it would have worked.

But why is it scrapped? Well, as I ended the flashback scene, Twilight and Scootaloo begin to explain the relevance. But I remembered that both ponies had different information. Twilight was under the impression that dragons were monogamous because of Spike's reaction. But Scootaloo knew that dragons were polygamous despite Spike's reaction.

Different bits of information would result in different reactions. In Rarity's view, Spike's dragon instincts were what caused the issue. It wasn't necessarily his fault. But in Sweetie Belle's view, his instincts should have prevented this, but he did it anyway.

Of course she wouldn't take it well.

Okay, that explains why Sweetie ran off, but why include Rarity's revelation that Spike never truly loved her. Well first off, she's a smart girl, and the revelation that Spike didn't want both of them, and that the thought actually scared him... Well, that would make Rarity wonder why he accepted Sweetie Belle's invitation in the first place.

Then the final gear would fall into place. I could have been quiet about it, and just hinted at the realization. But if I did that, the story would end here.

I mean let's face it. If I didn't include that plot point now, most would assume Rarity would get the dragon, and the story would end. But I couldn't have that.

I have to find a way to keep you people interested somehow.

Is there some reason you have chapter fourteen open to the public elsewhere, whereas you still haven't even gotten to chapter thirteen over here?

EDIT: Whelp, chapter fourteen was fairly interesting... Was that a kind of family member scrying spell at the end?

Oh good, Spike x Rarity's creepy.

Well, because I want people to visit my actual webpage. In fact, I'm thinking I might just stop posting on FIMFiction, since it's too much of a hassle. They use BBCode here, it's a pain.

Yes, that's exactly what it was, how'd you know?
