I... am so GODDAMN picky with my fanfiction.
As a reader: I haven't read any fics outside of my favorites in days. Today I realized that this is a terrible thing and I should really try to see what was out there.
I also realized that I've been spoiled.
You see, I've also been re-reading (for the umpteenth time) a group of my favorite books. This includes the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks, the Perseus Jackson series and the Tres Navarre series by Rick Riordan, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams (shame on you if you didn't know that!), the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini, the Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, and, of course, the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (I include this author for continuity's sake. A punishment is in order if you don't know who wrote Harry Potter).
I have grown intolerant of mistakes after reading so many books that are just damn good. Some fics (including my own) now seem choppy, awkward, and full of grammatical errors.
As a writer: I've always been picky. Terribly picky. As in, I've re-written entire chapters because I felt that a character was acting OOC. As in, I've aggravated for hours over the proper wording of the most trivial parts. As in, I am now a recognized face in my school's computer lab because I am in there every free moment I get. AND, most recently, I have randomly walked through my home arguing with myself over whether or not Harpo was gay. And when I say 'with myself' I mean that I argued with the bits of my mind that house different characters. (Octavia is relatively sure that he's straight, given how much he worried over mares in the past. Vinyl is pretty sure that he's bi. The Doctor is utterly confused as to why this should be a topic in the first place. I agree with Doc.)
... It's bad.
So, why am I writing this blog?
... I dunno... Killing time?
Suggest some good fics down below! Or maybe you'd like feedback for a fic? (Fair warning, in case this blog didn't get the idea through: I'm picky.) Or maybe you're going to yell at me to get back to writing (Josh)? Comment on whatever happened to pop into your head while reading!

"Six Brides For Two Sisters" would be my very favorite thing in the world right now if its update schedule didn't make me feel raw, seething hatred.
"Fire and Rain" and "Spellbound Fireflies" both DO currently share my favorite currently-updating fic spot at the moment, however.

That's some rather... mixed news. On the one hand, there's closure and an actual ending. No more waiting around to see what's next.
On the other hand, there's an ending and no more waiting around to see what's next... Ah, well; better late than never.
1169295 Heh, if you want something that's gonna be updating for a damn long time (as I estimate it) then if you like big honkin' adventure stories I can recommend "The Powers of Harmony."
It's pretty damn AU, but I love the shit out of it.
If you don't mind being frustrated by update schedules, "My Little Mommies" is pretty fun.
Also, if you like bats' work at all, he said he's probably gonna get back to "Coming Back" at some point. And I'd go so far as to say bats is probably my favorite overall on the site (seriously. "Spellbound Fireflies." Srsly.)

Maybe I need help? Nah.
Anyway, I would recommend Stability. After all, who doesn't like Lyra and Bon-Bon?
Anything from The Wizard of Words is pretty good in my opinion.
But the person inspired me to learn how to write would most probably be Georg.
Oh and as a final little bit, Memory Pending and Forgiveness Pending is also really good...
That's all my own opinion though
