To those who are waiting for a new Blue Skies chapter- here's this · 4:26am Jun 22nd, 2013

This is some stuff I started on like two months ago- but as soon as I started writing, my fingers kept getting slower as I came to the realization.
'Holy shit this sucks.'

I was going to start again later, but I got sidetracked by other writing stuff- so here's the rejected beginning of the next chapter.

I've decided to take a new direction on Blue- hope I can get to writing soon.

Spike was sitting on the edge of the bed that he shared with Applejack in the Apple family house upstairs. He had his hat in his claws as he looked down at the floor, which was hardly visible through the darkness. He had awoken early, earlier than he normally did ever since he started working on the farm and broke his old habits of sleeping in; now he had duties on the farm that he had to complete for his girlfriend, or should he say fiance.

He looked down at the floor, today there wasn't any work to be done on the farm for him or Applejack. Today was the day that she had schedualed an appointment at the Ponyville clinic around noon.

Spike gripped at his hat at the cause, a week ago she brought up the subject of how she wanted a child and how she's always wanted someone of her own to carry on the Apple family name and possibly some day run the farm. He was nervous, but refrained himself from damaging his hat.

He looked out into the void of darkness that surrounded their room at the window, the sun's rays weren't even visible yet and he estimated maybe twenty minutes until it started to rise.

Spike looked behind him and saw Applejack under the covers, sleeping soundly with a smile on her face. 'I...I don't know if I'm ready for this... I told her I was okay with it but...' He gritted his teeth, 'I need to go for a walk.'

Spike slowly exited the bed and felt his way in the darkness to get out of their room. He just needed to get away from the house for just a minute, the darkness was consuming him and tainting his thoughts. He loved her more than anything, but he thought he just really needed some fresh air at that moment.

Ever since he turned into a Virtue Dragon he felt awkward about walking through hallways, he wasn't much wider, but it was still a noticeable change. His scales were heavier, in which as the book said, to protect himself and his Soul String. His Soul String was Applejack, which bound him to her and caused himself to change. He wasn't too much taller, maybe over twice his old size eight years ago back in the times they fought Discord and King Sombra. He was also given the strength to protect he was, as Granny Smith put it, 'strong as an ox'. The reality was, he could benchpress an ox with one set of claws behind his back.

Spike stepped out of the Apple home, placing his hat over his head as he started to walk off towards the barn. The barn was a good place to go and relax, he's snuck off to go nap in the hay stacks more than once during the day.

He walked slowly, sticking to the path as he kicked up some dust as he trudged onwards through the darkness. 'I just can't get it out of my head... it feels like just yesterday I was just a kid- the same with Aj... I... I guess time just moves too fast for anyone... I almost wish I can just go back, maybe re-do some things in my life that I've regret.' Spike let out a sigh, the thoughts of thinking back to the younger days were starting to weigh him down. 'All the times I've had with Twilight and the rest of the gang... I guess you have to just grow up sometime.' He started to crack a smile at his thoughts, 'Yeah... growing up isn't all bad, sometimes you wish you can spend more time with your friends... but they're always going to be there, even though you sometimes only give them a passing glance when you're in town. Flutters has Big Mac, and those two are pretty solitary and keep to themselves, I'm not even sure how strongly they feel to each other... I just see them together, gentle smiles on their muzzles as they just trot together in unision.'

Spike was nearly halfway to the barn, the more he thought- the clearer his mind got. 'Rainbow is off living her dream at the Wonderbolt academy right now. Rarity is more induldged in her buisiness than ever- it only took five years for her to make that solid reputation shes always wanted among designers... Rarity... she was a mare I really fell for back then, but it was just a childhood crush... it's nothing compared to how I feel about Applejack.'

He was walking along side the barn, trailing a claw on the side with care as he didn't want to scratch it. He walked along side it slowly, admiring it's shade of red as he slowly came to a stop near the end. He then faced the gates to Sweet Apple Acres, he gazed down the road to Ponyville which looked so tiny... you could almost cover it with the tip of his claw.

Spike just stood there next to the barn, just staring down the road out of the farm. The path was sided with trees for over a mile, it winded along the ground like a snake, imprinted with hoof and wheel marks from it's years of use.

Spike's small grin turned into a smile as he continued his thoughts, 'Pinkie Pie has Ximenez... I have no clue what they really do, I haven't seen them latley.' His thoughts turned to the last of her friends, who was a bit more than just a friend. He thought of her as a sister, and sometimes even a mother. 'Twilight, she's in her final stages of being a student to Celestia and now shes having a foal with Soarin'...A foal...' He started looking up into the dusks' dark sky, "A foal..."

The sound of a twig snapping came from behind him and he turned his head to see Applejack standing there, only five feet away.

"Yer not leavin' me are ya..?" Applejack asked softly through the darkness.

"Wha..." Spike was caught off guard by her question.

"Sp-spike?" Her bottom lip looked as though it were about to quiver in sadness.

He saw her reaction with his draconic eyes through the dark, and he snapped back into reality, "What? ... Why would I leave you Aj?"

And it was at this point, the entire thing felt lame and was scrapped.
