Equestria seems permanently nice. Nice warm sun against my dark skin, my short Afro looking so shiny. My suit's slightly uncomfortable for the heat, but I need to look my best for my first customer. From what I've been told by Shining Obsidian, my handler, White Light is a virgin. They both are.

I take inventory, making sure I'm prepared for my first mare. There are several things that they say you must carry with you at all times and it seems I'm in order; clean suit and tie, business cards, Equestrian ID card and my wallet.

So many small stores and little booths with ponies and humans alike, selling and buying different products. I see an orange-ish mare selling the biggest apples I've ever seen in my entire life, and I'm twenty-one. There's a pink one with a poofy mane just hopping around everywhere, too.

I have to find that library with...Twilight? Yeah, Twilight Sparkle. I have to talk to her about White Light before I go see her. Now, if I'm standing in front of the Saddlebucks the library should be six blocks south so I need to turn left and start walking.

Being six feet and seven inches tall gives me long strides as I glide down the street at a reasonable pace, at least for me. Most of the Gentlemen are about five foot eight. I'm the only African American in the business...at least to my knowledge. I only know of my company and we have weekly meetings about rules and regulations and I'm always the only dark-skinned one there. There aren't even any Pacific Islanders or South Americans there. I swear, there are nothing but Caucasians here.

That may have sounded racist to some of you, but it's true. And if I've said anything racist in your opinion, you should hear the others I work with. Every time I run into one of them, they disrespect me. It's horrible because I can't do anything about it.

Usually it helps me to go over the rules. It gets my mind of of them and onto something else. Some rules are obvious, some rules could be revised and other rules are perfectly stated and should be payed close attention to.

Rules one and two basically state this: make the mare happy and try to get them to ask for further services from either you or the company. Rule number three is the most strictly enforced rule. It states that no Gentleman is to service a married mare unless their husband gives permission.

Rule number four, in my opinion, needs to be dropped. It says that you can't sleep with any mares you aren't hired by or are in a relationship with. Sometimes people get drunk and go to ponies' houses. Maybe they're in love with the mare, like I am. At least I think I am. And I barely know her.

Her name is Shining Obsidian and she's my Handler. I just wish that the company would give me a better chance. I probably have zero percent chance already, but with rule number five, I think it's hit the negatives.

Rule number five? No Gentleman can sleep with his Handler unless they're in a relationship with them. Shining Obsidian is absolutely beautiful. She's four and a half feet from head to hoof. Her mane, tail and coat are like...they're like a shadow. She's like a shadow. A very sexy shadow. A very...very...very sexy shadow.

Imagining her is probably how I get through most of the seminars. The ones that we must attend once a week, according to rule six. I can't believe I love her, but I can't help it. I mean, how could you not want her? All black Unicorn? Absolutely stunning, especially if the sun hits her just right. That's why they call her Shining Obsidian.

Rule number seven is one I make sure I observe at all times. Never would I ever dream of swearing around Shining Obsidian. Not because she'd turn me in, but I could never hurt her ears like that. The only thing that could make me swear would be another Gentleman.

That actually will bring me to the last rule. We're not allowed to quarrel with each other. If a Handler catches us, they'll write us up and who knows what happens after that. We get three strikes and I'm already on my second.

It's how they talk to me. I can't take it sometimes. They'll make sure that we're in a corridor with no Handlers or any type of supervising staff and they'll just start letting the words go. I've never heard people use such obscenities. Never.

"Hey nigger, get the fuck out of Equestria; we don't want your kind here." Then there's "If you don't get your black ass out of Equestria, we'll have your nigger ass sent back where the fuck you came from. Now be a good nigger and go home!"

I need this job and it's has good pay. I just can't get fired. If I get fired, it's back to working at restaurants. I don't want to go back to that. I just became a naturalized citizen and I finally get to take part in all things American.

Well, all things American for a twenty-eight year-old Africa-born man that stands over six feet tall with skin almost as black as the night and a short Afro that many of the other Handlers and mares I've spoken to have complimented on, including Twilight.

And I see the library getting quite large on the horizon, so I make sure to slow myself down. I've knocked several ponies and people over from my quick pace. I've been working on it and I seem to be doing better.

As the tree gets bigger, I start to wonder; what if there are people helping her in the library? I doubt it, but seeing something like that would be wonderful. Just like the ponies and humans in the market, both beings in the library would be quite harmonious.

I smell grapes instantly and see the librarian holding aerosol cans of air freshener in magical auras. She spots me and sets down the cans on a table in the corner. Bookshelves are on every wall, crammed with books on every subject of human and pony history and pop culture. As I look at the books she trots up to me and introduces herself.

"Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle. How may I help you?"

Her voice is gentle and educated. She talks with a humble air about her, seeming like she doesn't want to flaunt her stuff. I look down at her, about a whole foot lower than my eyes. Hey eyes glisten almost like Japanese anime.

"Bonjour Madame Sparkle, je m'appelle Ukweli." I cough, realizing I spoke in French. "Hello Miss Sparkle, my name is Ukweli. I was told you have, on document, profiles of every pony in Ponyville. If it isn't too much trouble, do you think I may see one?"

She smiles up at me and stand on her back legs, now at least five and a half feet tall. She puts a hoof on my shoulder and chuckles slightly before going back onto all four legs. I tilt my head back down to look at her.

"You are taller than the rest. Six feet, seven and sixteenths inches tall. And you are also a different race than the rest. The Gentlemen are mostly Caucasians. You're African-American, correct?" she asks me politely.

"Yes, Miss Sparkle, that is correct." I respond quietly.

She stares at me for quite some time and I just stare back. “It is good to see some diversity,” she quips, still looking at me. We hold each others gaze until another pony walks in. I look behind me and see that orange mare that I spotted by Saddlebucks earlier.

"Howdy Twi. Who's this you got here?" she questions in a Southern accent.

"Oh, I see you haven't met yet. Applejack, this is Ukweli. Ukweli, Applejack," she explains.

I turn around completely and get on one knee. I life her hoof and kiss it lightly. "I am pleased to meet you Miss Applejack."

I see a small blush on her cheeks. She stares at me quietly with a short smile replacing the blush.

"Likewise Mister Ukweli. Now, Twi, I need some help at the farm, think you can lend a hoof?" the mare grunts at Twilight.

"Oh, of course Applejack! But I have to see to his needs first. I'll be there in a few minutes." the Unicorn replies.

Applejack gives a quick nod to Twilight, then me, and leaves. I watch her walk away slowly, casting a glance back at me. “I'll see ya 'round Mister Ukweli!” she calls before disappearing.

I turn back to Twilight. “She seems like a nice mare. Are you and she close friends?” I ask.

“Yes, we are. There's more than just friendship that keeps us together, but I'd really rather not talk about it. Celestia wants it to stay secret, so we all stay silent,” she grunts.

I nod. “I can understand, Miss Sparkle.” I am definitely going to come back here again in a few days time. I really enjoy her company and it seems we both share secrets we are not allowed to tell.

“You said it was White Light's file you needed?” she replies. I nod to her. “Okay, I'll go get that for you. Just wait down here while I go get it.”

I watch her go upstairs so I wait patiently for her to return. I walk about the large, irregularly shaped room and look at different books. Some books are ones I've read: To Kill A Mockingbird, Huckleberry Finn and Moby Dick. I even see The Hunger Games. I heard about that book from the movie trailers and ads.

And then there are some are pony books that I have no idea what they might contain. Definitely a good deal of informational/non-fiction books across the shelves. Most don't interest me. One pony-written one does catch me eye; Love Of A Princess. I take the book off the shelf and stare at the description of the soft-cover book.

hat happens when a teacher loves her student more than she should? What happens when a Princess falls in love with her protege? What will that protege say when she learns the truth? Will she accept it and be happy, or will she turn away the pony she once held close? Did Princess Celestia like Twilight Sparkle for more than her magical abilities? Did something more...romantic happen between the two of them? Were the long nights of studying actually something more?

I squeak when I feel a hoof touch my back. I whip around, hiding the book behind me back. I see that I was touched by the librarian and relax, sighing in relief. "I see you've stumbled upon a book you rather enjoy. May I see the cover?" she purrs gently.

I pull the book from behind me, showing her the book title. I look down at her face as she reads the title and seems to go into a state of dream. I tap her gently on the head to bring her back to the real world. She shakes her head vigorously before handing me the folder with everything I need to know about White Light.

"Sorry about that. Sometimes I space out. I've read that book before, pretty good. I am surprised somepony had the guts to write about me and Celestia like that. The thought of me and my own mentor hopping in bed and fooling around...so silly."

I look down and read the author's name. Burning Passion. I hear Twilight laugh at my concentrated face and I look at her sheepishly and thank her for the info. Before I can leave, she grabs me and keeps me still.

"Ukweli. I would like for you to come back here in a few days. I may call the service and ask for you in particular. I would like to get to know you, if you don't mind.”

“Of course, Miss Sparkle! I have a few cards...” I reach into my jacket pocket and hand her a card, with a wide smile. “I would love to get to know you as well. Just um...how well exactly?” I ask, voice a little shaky.

She smiles. “No, there's not going to be any sex. Well, I don't see any, but if I like you after we talk, maybe. I'm not a mare that wastes time with such things. I have more important stuff.” She taps on the folder. “Have to keep these up-to-date!”

"How do you keep up-to-date on these? Aren't there several thousand ponies in Ponyville? How do you have the time to write down everything when they're constantly changing?"

"Oh, that's easy! A simple spell that edits the information at any time. It's very helpful, especially for Gentlemen. And I would really advise that you did the hoof kissing a little less publicly. Around here, it's considered noble."

“Oh, I did not know!” My face turns beet red. “Oh, I don't want ponies getting the wrong ideas! When we meet, I want you to teach me a little about pony culture and things so I do not make such mistakes!”

I let her laugh at me and smile. “Don't worry, Ukweli, I will.”

“Thank you. For this folder and for teaching me in the future. And uh, just between you and me?” Her ears perk up and I continue. “I'm kind of nervous about sleeping with mares. I don't really like it. I feel...I just feel weird.

She grabs me in a hug. “Don't worry, you'll get used to it after a while. If you want, I can ask for your services, but we never have to do it if you don't want to.”

I smile and respond to her little comment. "That's very generous of you.” I pat her back and she lets go. “Well, I guess I should get going.” I quickly check over the folder and give it back to her. “I'll come back tomorrow.”

Before I leave, I bend down and give her a hoof kiss. “If they get the wrong ideas, I truly wouldn't mind. Not if it is with a mare as intelligent as yourself. I heard you're the Princess' student. When we meet again, Miss Sparkle.”

“Oh, thanks for doing the little role play. It's nice to re-meet somepony. But I really do want you to come back later. Not later, tomorrow. You've got work. In fact, I'll call for you so I can make sure you don't have to leave on another call. Now go get her,” she purrs with a wink.

I stand and leave, letting her close the door behind me. Thinking back to the folder, I get the address of White Light and start walking towards the Ever-Free Forest. I don't know what's so scary out there, the species here, although they resemble animals that are very viscous on Earth, are quite docile. I don't go too close to the Ever-Free, I know that the cottage right by it is too far.

I look around for her house. Its two story beauty of vibrant purple touched by black on shutters and other trims. When I knock, I get an instant response from the lovely white mare, her deep blue eyes like an ocean I can only hope not to get lost in.

I bend down and kiss her hoof and see a blush when I stand back up. “Bonjour mademoiselle. My name is Ukweli, but you may call me whatever you want on this day. I am here to fulfill your every need, your every want." I search back and remember some of the things she likes.

"Maybe we could go watch the sunset from the beach, or perhaps we could go to Sugarcube Corner and dine on a delicious red velvet cake topped with butter creme incing. Maybe we could even go to the spa and relax in a mud bath."

I hear her moan inside her throat. She grabs me and pulls me into her house. The door slams behind me and I look about the room. It's furnished with a few cushions for ponies to use as seats and a couple human chairs. I see several paintings on the walls of her home.

I recognize several of her paintings from their designs, recalling their artists as well: The Scream - Edvard Munch, Portrait de Mr Minguell - Picasso, Starry Night - Van Gogh, and The Potato Eaters - also Van Gogh.

I feel White Light pulling on my shirt and I look down at her. She smiles, then frowns, like something finally clicked. "How do you know so much about me? Have you been stalking me?"

I shake me head and reply "No! Of course not! I swear I was not stalking you!" That seems to satisfy her and she leaves me to my own devices as she goes upstairs, much to my terrified relief. I don't want a mare thinking I'm stalking her.

I turn my attention to the art and, afterward, I look around the first floor, the kitchen catching my eye. From what I can see, she's a rich mare. Crystal glasses hang about on shelves and racks, an ice box with a glass front contains many expensive-looking wines.

Five minutes pass and my exploration takes a turn for the better. I hear hooves coming down the stairs and I look over, my eyes saying hello to what seems to be something darker than night. It's White Light, a black dress draped over her body.

She starts slinking over, her body looking so terrific that I might not even have words to describe her. I regret to admit that she's looking better that my Handler right now. I shake myself out of the trance as she stops in front of me. "How do I look?" she asks me sensually.

"Absolutely terrific. Exquisite. Stunning. Delightful." Each word gives her a blush that grows deeper and deeper. "Ravishing. Divine. Pulchritudinous." I feel she's had enough now that her whole face is a dark red. I reach up and run my fingers through her perfectly brushed white mane. She allows me to do so, but puts a hoof on my leg. I can feel warmth radiate from it and enjoy the bliss.

The hoof starts to slide up my leg, going toward my third leg. I stop it before she gets a chance to feel. I her her whinny and I smile. "Just wait. Let me show you some fun before you delve into sexual desires. You'll be my first mare, Miss Light. I just ask you to wait. I promise that you can do whatever you want if you wait until later."

"O...okay then...I didn't know. They didn't tell me anything about you. This...this is my first time as well." She clears her throat and covers her eyes as a tear falls from it. Crouching, I reach underneath her hooves and wipe away the tears. I feel her grab me into a tight hug that I return. I stay there as she cries on my back, just listening to the sound of her sobs. She finally quiets down after several minutes.

She pulls away from me and stands back on all fours. She stares at me, her eyes red and smiles. I watch her horn glow momentarily her eyes going back to their normal color. The aura disappears and she pecks me on the cheek. I kiss her back standing tall to open the door for her.

"Do you know where we are going?"

"Yes. I'm treating you to a very nice dinner. Yes, an early dinner, but a dinner nonetheless.” I smile and shut the door as she walks out, her face excited. I hope she likes the place I've chosen. Yes, it was a premature decision, considering I didn't even know her but...

“Will you tell me where we're going?” she asks eagerly.

"We shall be going to a little restaurant that I've heard of. It's supposed to be a wonderful place. They speak French, so I'll order for you.,” I answer. “They call it La Plage. It's French for beach. Even though it's not actually by the beach.”

We both chuckle and set on our course to the place. It's not very expensive, but the meals are definitely not cheap. Thankfully I've saved up money from home and I have cash from the company. They usually give new recruits a small amount of money.

It doesn't take long to get there and inside. No reservations are needed, just my ID card for the company. Obsidian always said bring a good amount of money for your mares because they like a man that can provide for them.

The door mare smiles as she leads us to a table near the back, a gentle piano being played not even a stone's throw from us. “The waiter will be over in just one minute.” She looks from me to White Light and back. “Good luck,” she mouths, leaving us.

We have to wait for about twenty minutes before the waiter arrives. In that time frame, we eat bread sticks and keep quiet, not really knowing what to say to one another. When the waiter, a Unicorn, finally comes, he asks us what we want to order.

He asks what we want and, with a wink to White Light, I respond. “Pasta Putanesca. Duex. Et la Chardonnay”

He scribbles on his notepad and disappears, the order being taken to the chefs to be made for us.

"So," I start, turning to the mare. "This is your first time as well as mine." She nods and blushes at me. I reach across the table and stroke her face gently, feeling the soft, warm fur that covers it. She nuzzles my hand and I look around at other Gentlemen touching their mares playfully or talking lightheartedly. I lean over and kiss her nose.

"Thank you. Thank you for being this nice to me and thank you for being my first."

I shake my head and frown slightly. "No, don't thank me, it's my job. I am here to make you happy. Me being chosen was just a stroke of luck...I guess. The truth is, I'm scared."

Her eyes snap open and she looks at me sympathetically. "I am too. I've heard from other mares that it's very enjoyable, but...I just don't know. “ I see the worry on her face. She looks like she's ready to run out the front door at any moment.

Well, I can change that. I lower my face an inch and kiss her. She smiles through it and starts to stroke my arm with her warm hooves. You know, I always thougt they'd be rough from all the walking they do, but I seem to have been wrong. There isn't a part of her hoof that isn't warm and soft. It's almost squishy to be truthful.

I pull away and she whinnies like she did back at her house. It draws slight attention from a few nearby Gentlemen who give me a short nod of approval. As I turn back to the table, I see the waiter has returned, out food in auras being placed gently on the table. "Bon Appetite," he says, and leaves.

I watch as she slowly nibbles her food. “White Light.” She looks up at me. “Ma'am, don't feel shy. Don't be nervous. I promise I shall take care of you tonight. In fact, I'll take you to the spa. You need to be treated right.”

“You...you'd do that?” I can see her face light up. “Thank you!” She reaches over and hugs me, pressing her lips to mine. I lean forward, stroking the back of her head lovingly. Our kiss breaks and her face becomes a cherry. “Thanks...”

I smile. “Eat and then I shall order desert. I am quite sure you'll enjoy what I have in mind...” I smirk. I hope I'm doing as well as I did in training. I'm not used to this teasing and playing. I've always been upfront and honest.

“Um...Ukweli I...don't think of me badly for this but...I want to go straight home. I...I'm sorry for being so hungry for it but...I just...I...” When her tears start to fall, she stops. “Never mind. Just drag me wherever.”

I reach over and grab her hoof. “No, Miss Light, we'll go home. It's my job to make you happy, not me. So don't cry, just smile and know that I am here. I always will be here.” She looks up with a wide smile. I kiss her hoof and her face turns red.

“You know that ponies may get the wrong idea. They might think we're dating or in a relationship.” She brushes my hand with her other hoof. “Although I really wouldn't mind it...” She seems unable to control her face and a goof grin spreads over it.

She tries to hide it, but fails miserably. “I...sorry. This just has me off. I really need to straighten up. I'm getting clingy because you'll be my first. Deep inside, I want to stay single. I have to get over my emotions. Please just bear with it.”

“Ma'am, there is not reason to apologize or feel guilty. Just order me to do what you want and I shall do so without the slightest hesitation. And if they get the wrong idea, then it doesn't really matter because that's only what they think, not what they know.”

I grab her hoof, repeatedly kissing it, much to her obvious astonishment. “Knock it off! They'll think we're more than just dating!” she squeals. “Knock it off!”

I pull my lips away. “Ma'am, being 'caught' in a relationship with any mare would not bother me. Well, most. Definitely not you. You're culturally rich and I'm sure you're very intelligent as well. That's all I would want my wife to be, smart and diverse.”

“Yeah, but I'm not smart, or diverse. Plus I'm ugly.” She hangs her head, avoiding eye contact. “A lump of coal is more attractive than me.”

“White Light...” I shake my head in disappointment. “I'm sure you know what happens to coal. It becomes a diamond. Such an ugly piece of rock becomes one of the most beautiful things in the world. You're the same. With a little pressure and heat, namely a good stallion and love, you could become your very own diamond.”

I feel the smile before I see it. “You're so sweet, Ukweli, so very sweet.” She lifts her head, her long mane covering her eye now. “Just talking to you...it's made me feel wonderful. I don't want you to leave. Never.”

“Sorry, but I don't think you can buy me. The company wouldn't let you,” I joke, earning a wider smile and a further raised head. “You can rent me as much as you want though. They charge by the day.”

She giggles and I feel content. She's happy and I'm doing well. I'm going to get paid and, if I keep this up, I can retire young and buy a house here. Ten, twenty more years of this and I'll have enough money to finally settle down.

“Maybe I could steal you. I could lock you in the basement and never let you out. Keep you down there forever!” she whispers evilly, her hoof slowly sliding up my arm. I can see what she's doing, and it's not working, but I can play along.

“Oh, but what about food? And what if I need to go to the bathroom? Or if I need clothes? What then?” I counter, her face going into a pout. “Humans have needs too.”

“I'll bring it to you.” Her face curves menacingly. Her hoof finally reaches my cheek and she leans in, our lips colliding again. She strokes my cheek, her hunger well hidden. I let it hold for a full minute before gently forcing her back.

“Eat, ma'am. Can't let good food go to waste, okay?” She nods and we both silently eat our food and sip our wine, wanting noting to ruin the moment. I can tell, just by the small twitches of her body, that she's really eager to get home, but afraid of losing the most precious thing a female can give.

I finish my food first and move my chair next to her. I lean into her ear. “Don't be scared.” I wrap my arm around her, gently hugging her as her magic puts food slowly into her mouth. I check out the room around us and notice the great deal of Unicorns.

Maybe it's because Earths and Pegasi don't really like to use silverware in public. Don't think it's easy with hooves. I gently peck her neck and bring my attention back to her. “I promise to be your man tonight. Just be my mare.”

She nods and takes the last bite of her food and finishes off her drink. “I will be, Ukweli. I'll be your mare. But...can you be gentle? A few of my friends said that it hurts. I want to you be as gentle as you can.”

I just gently stroke her hair and signal the waiter for the check. She leans on me and we just wait silently for our bill to be totaled. I hear her whisper something that gives me a weird feeling. “I wonder if he'd be my boyfriend...”

I gulp. Please don't ask me. Please don't ask me. For the sake of the mare you call Luna, please don't ask me. She turns her head and looks up at me and I know she's going to ask. “Ukweli. I want to ask you something. Will you...will...will you stay with me overnight?”

I nearly sigh in relief, but that would not bode well. “Yes, of course!” I kiss her cheek and nuzzle her lovingly. “It's what we do, ma'am. All day, all night. If need be, another day and another night. Anything to make you happy.”

“Even being my boyfriend? And living with me forever?” I can see the devilish smile and know she's joking, much to my relief. “Oh, Ukweli, you are so sweet! You always play along and you don't even try anything!”

The waiter drops the check off and I quickly pay, a fifteen percent tip being left behind. I grab my first mare and we slowly leave, a few of the Gentlemen nodding curtly, wishing my non-verbal luck. I'm going to need it if I want to make it through my first day.

I knock gently on the door. “May I come in?” I ask. I hear a response, but the shower drowns it out. Oh, please don't kill me, I beg in my head as I push the door open. I can see her there, black frame coated with water.

Hopefully, I'm not drooling. But the rise in the water level tells me that I probably am. So much you could swim in it. I quickly close my mouth and look away. “Did you say I could come in?” I call unsurely.

“Yeah, Ukweli, I need help.” Her nasally voice is painful to hear. How could she have gotten so sick so quickly? It hadn't even been a six hours since I left her and she was perfectly fine. “Please. I can barely walk and I need-”

Her words get cut off as she dashes out of the water to a toilet, vomiting violently. I nearly throw up as well, but I seem to be able to quiet it down. She comes back her and she quickly splashes water on her face before coming back to the shower.

“Oh, dear Luna, help me. I need to get to work. I need to...you need to get back to your mare.” She walks over to me, weakly turning off the water. “Come on. I need-”

“No,” I say firmly. “You're going to sleep. You need rest and you need to stay hydrated.” I lift her up and carry her to the linen closet, grabbing out a towel. “I'm going to put you in bed. Stay there, okay?” I dry her off, earning no response.

As I lay her down, I grab her brush. She lays on her side and I slowly groom her, listening to her slow breaths. I finish with the left side and she rolls over, letting me do her right. “Thank you Ukweli. I'll make sure you get a bonus.”

“No. I don't want it. You're my Handler. I'm just doing what I have to.” I finish her coat and start brushing her mane, pulling it out long, enjoying how it reminds me of a farm I worked on for a short time. In fact, there was a horse that looked somewhat like her.

Funny I can see that when it was so long ago. Over eight years and it's the best memory ever. A cough from Shining Obsidian draws my attention back. “Are you alright?” I know the concern in my voice is obvious, I just hope she doesn't know why I'm so concerned.

“Yeah, fine. Just...” She yawns and lays her head down. “If you want to finish...finish brushing me...go a...ahead. But...but stay...please...I'll g...give you all...all the bits I have. But...but I need...company.” Her eyes flutter shut. “Don't leave,” she whispers as her body goes limp.

I sigh. Why do you have to be the mare of my dreams? Of all mares I have to spend the night with, it has to be the one that doesn't even know I want her. I thought my life had gotten easier since my escape. It seems it's only gotten harder.

How far would she let this go? Sit in the chair and watch her? Lay down next to her? Oh, Obsidian, why did you have to put me in this spot? Look at you. Beautiful. So beautiful. Why do you have to drive me insane?

Hopefully I can lay with her, but I know that's too much. She wouldn't let me do that. She's my Handler. She'd probably write me up, despite how nice she normally is. With another sigh, I walk to the chair in the far corner, plopping down.

“It's going to be a long night.” I slouch and throw my head back, looking at the ceiling. I look for any type of pattern or abnormality that might resemble a face or something like that. One of my favorite pass time has always been looking for things that aren't there.

The book. It hits me. Where is the book? I nearly jump up in fear. I lost the book? How could I lose- I find it. I guess I subconsciously put it into my jacket before I went to White Light's. I didn't even get to finish my night with her...

But I couldn't leave Obsidian in the state she was. When I heard how sick she was, I got up instantly, begging White Light for forgiveness, which she gave. She said that she was happy with the night she had and I would still get my pay.

I don't want paid. Not if I didn't fulfill my duty. Right now, I can only hope that she gets better. I give her sleeping form one last look before I grab the book out and sit up in the chair, turning through the extra leaves at the beginning.

Chapter One:
Discovering The Truth

I always loved her. That first moment I saw her as a filly, I had feelings for her that even I couldn't explain. How is it that a simple filly could drive me insane? One little purple pony haunts my thoughts each and every day?

How can it be that a mare like me could be struck down by such a young Unicorn? How could I ever have such feelings for a pony I had only just met? Sure, she is a magical prodigy, but that doesn't justify it!

A princess should not feel like this. Not for a mare. Not for a foal. Not for any pony except for a fully grown stallion of high status such a Royal Guard, Duke, even a judge would have been fine. But, instead, I get butterflies at the sight of a slightly retarded Unicorn.

With practice, she could perform magic with ease, but her lame horn hinders her. Perhaps...perhaps it is the thought of that magic. That unchanneled magic that courses through her that has made me desire her so deeply.

Whatever the reason be, I need to tell her. It has been far too long a secret and I need to reveal the truth. I need to tell her every single details about my admiration and want for her. From the dreams to stimulation. That is why I called her today.

“I came as soon as I got your letter,” she states calmly as she walks into the room. “You said it was urgent. Do I need to get the Elements?”

“No, Twilight,” I say softly. “I want you to come here. Right in front of me. There is something that you need to know before your ventures in friendship can continue.” Hopefully the worry I feel inside isn't being expressed outside.

She trots up slowly, her mane hanging beside her violet face just the right way. How I wish that I could get it out of my head. How I wish the dreams would cease, if even for a night. But they don't and I have to face it all. Right here. Right now.

“Yes, Princess?” She bows swiftly. “Anything to help keep Equestria safe.”

I sigh. “No, Twilight, this is not a matter that will save Equestria. I called you here today for more...personal reasons. You are an intelligent mare and I am sure you will understand everything I have to say to you today.”

“Oh, of course! But...personal? Why would you need me for personal reasons? Aren't I your student? I know I performed well on my exam last month, but that can't be the reason you called me, can it?” she asks eagerly.

“No, Twilight Sparkle, it isn't. But I do want to congratulate you on a job well done. I called you here because I have harbored a deep secret that I have been afraid to tell since I first came to realize it. I do not wish to burden you, so please, only listen if you feel that you trust me.”

She almost opens her mouth, but I cut her off. “Not because I am your princess or teacher, but because I am your friend. If you see me merely as one of the former two, then turn your ears away and return home. If you do feel as though we are friends, then listen close.”

“Of course, Princess!” The surprise on her face makes me smile. “I am honored you'd consider me a friend and I consider you the same!” Pure astonishment and joy on her features makes my heart speed up, my blood pumping hot through my body.

“Twilight Sparkle, I love you.” I hold my hoof up before she gets the chance to say anything. “Not in that sense. I love you as your brother loves Princess Cadence. The reason for these feelings is unfathomable, but please understand them.”

My hoof goes down and my eyes pierce her soul. I know there's desperation in them and in my voice as I say, “And please return them.” By her expression, by her face, I can see she doesn't. It's not surprise, joy or astonishment on her face; it's horror.

I shut the book. “This is a deep story. I don't kn-”

“Ukweli! Help! I'm drowning!” Obsidian wails, her body flailing on the bed.

I fly over, my hands shaking her away. “Wake up! You're not drowning! You're in bed! You're at home!” Her eyes snap open and I grab her close. “It's okay. You're safe. You're safe.” I hear her quick pants and I gently rub her back.

She calm down slowly, her chest flying slower. “Oh, Ukweli, I was so scared. It was horrible. I was in Neighagra and the water took me under. I couldn't get up! I couldn't breathe! I thought I was going to die...”

She sobs on my shoulder and I use as many words as I can to calm her back down. Once she's under control, out hold is broken. “Thank you. I'll make sure you get...something.”

“No, Miss...Obsidian, you know I won't accept that. I did nothing except what you would have done in my place.” I pull her back in, enjoying the hug. Maybe I can tell her my feelings and she'll say that she feels the same way...yeah, right. Only in movies and stories, Ukweli.
