... except I am a slowpoke and it's already featured: Pony Verse. A book of pony poetry in a variety of styles, organized by darf, with 39 chapters by 9 authors, including someponies named Horizon and Aquillo. A poetry recommendation from me might be seen as an insult. But if you want pony poetry, this is where to go for it.
I also want to tell you something wonderful and sad I learned yesterday, thru presentperfect's blog (which I recommend for its short yet informative fiction recommendations). There's an author here named DuncanR. He's been writing on fimfiction for a year, has written eight stories, some of them wonderful, and has 60 followers. I'd never heard of him before yesterday.
How did this happen? How have we failed so badly at word-of-mouth?
Well, as far as I can tell, he hasn't been on Equestria Daily. Word-of-mouth... still doesn't work.
I strongly recommend Erase and Rewind and Bittersweet Music. DuncanR has a good sense of what makes a story, paints vivid pictures with a few words, and writes characters who are consistent and yet continually surprising. Bittersweet Music, despite its name, isn't bitter at all--well, not unless he was trying to say something different about the Fancy Pants / Fleur de Lis relationship than I thought he was trying to say. Fancy Pants is the protagonist, yet it contains a complete story about Spike within the story. Kind of sneaky, how he wrote a character arc for Spike, and used it as a plot element in a short story about Fancy Pants. "Erase and Rewind" is shaping up like Borges' "Funes the Memorious" retold as a complete character-oriented story, rather than just an idea and a (literally) still life. And I love "Funes the Memorious".
Yeah I agree. I plan on reading his (DuncanR) stuff soon.
Also great to see more work involving darf that does nor make me wonder why it's even called fanfiction.

I do not recall how I came across his account, but he seemed like a promising writer judging from his user page alone. His story "Appletheosis" piqued my interest the most. Once I read it and loved it, I became absolutely certain that a skilled writer like him deserved to be followed. Eventually I will read more of his stories, strating with his latest one.
