Well this is frustrating (Rise of the Seraphim update)

Ok, I'll get right to the point.

Rise of the Seraphim is most likely gonna get a reboot.
    Keyword being likely.

Explanation after the break. Minor spoiler alert, in that I will be discussing some of my original intents with the story, but ultimately, with the reboot, they won't matter anymore.

    Name Change

Well, just a very quick blog post announcing a name change.

Yeah... was quite some time ago that I dubbed myself "Swiftest Shadow", when I was a little more... naive, I suppose would be the word for it.

Suffice to say, it was not a name that inspires confidence in my ability to write or edit.

    It Begins

    Prologue has finally been uploaded!

Well, I had called it a revision, but at this point, I think reboot would be a much more accurate description. Practically new everything from the original upload I had.

    Progress Update

Just thought I'd drop a quick note here.

I ultimately decided to un-publish Chapter 1 and 2 of the story Rise of the Seraphim, because honestly, I feel ashamed for how bad they were.

Editor's Compilation · 2:18am May 15th, 2013

Here's a compilation of all the stories I have worked on as either a pre-reader or an editor.
Check them out, they're definitely worth a read.

Synopsis: After a mishap while attempting to create a new spell, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash find themselves trapped in a world where the Elements of Harmony had not worked and Nightmare Moon had won.
Note: A very old fic, has been around since before Season 2. One of my favourite stories and definitively worth reading. However, do note that the author is currently on Hiatus, so it may be a while before it updates again.
I officially started pre-reading this story on Chapter 19 (or Fimfiction labelled 20).
So far, the author seems to have vanished on us, so I don't see this being finished anytime soon, sadly. IT HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED!

Synopsis: Twilight has been asked by Princess Luna to write a social report on Cloud Kicker. Hilarity Ensues.
Note: Winningverse from Twilight's point of view. Don't know what the Winningverse is? Well you're missing out on a hilarious and good story. Story runs parallel with the main story.
I started on Chapter 6.

Synopsis: Rainbow Dash is a pony of reputation. And after the success of Tornado Duty, she definitively commands a lot of respect. So what better way to sucker punch her reputation than to have her embarrassing parents come visit? Story takes place after Ch. 12 of Life and Times of a Winning Pony.
Note: A funny and heartwarming story. You definitively see the character of Rainbow Dash in this story. Oh, and be aware that Rainbow has two mothers in this story. Don't worry about the biological impossibility, Love Magic is funny business.
Story Complete

Synopsis: Follow the story and love-life of Lyra Heartstrings, a drop-out and... well, basically a bum.
Note: Also takes place in the Winningverse. A rather interesting change of pace to the usual Winningverse story, where we don't talk about Cloud Kicker most of the time, or at least she's rarely involved here.
I started on Chapter 2. Involvement stopped at Chapter 10.

Synopsis: Raindrops is a grump, but that won't stop Cloud Kicker in trying to make advances on her.
Note: Part of the Cloud Kicker Month event the group ran. As you probably guessed by now, it's also part of the Winningverse.
One-shot

Evening Flames by NickNack

Synopsis: Sequel to Summer Days which itself is a sequel to Heart of Gold, Feathers of Steel, which is basically the episode Griffin the Brush-Off from Gilda's point of view. After the events of a single disastrous night, Gilda finds her new-found life as a guard in the mining town of Farrington thrown in shambles. Tension grows hot and everyone has to consider their own past in order to be able to settle things for the future.
Note: This story has recently gone through a revision... or a rewrite more like from its incomplete original from very early on in the fandom's history. I highly suggest you read from the first story on though. Don't worry, it is worth your time.
I started on Chapter 6.
Story Complete

Synopsis: Part of the DeadDerpyVerse of the Winningverse Story, an alternate universe where Derpy dies of cancer. This story goes through Derpy's thoughts in the last few moments of her life.
Note: What's interesting about this, at least to me, is that it's basically the same scene as the other stories of the DeadDerpyVerse, From the Mouths of Fillies and Saying Goodbye, and yet not make it tedious or repetitive. Definitely well written, and definitely feels inducing.
One-shot

Midnight's Shadow by Ponibius

Synopsis: Sequel to The Lunar Rebellion, follow the story of Midnight Sparkle, a newly appointed Magus of Equestria and her life.
Note: Archaic English. I'm personally really fond of Midnight's character. There's just something really endearing about her curiosity of brutality.
Complete

Synopsis: The story that started it all. I kinda can't write an adequate synopsis here so... "Marvel at the insanity that is her life, and laugh at the sufering of her poor beleaguered best friend, Blossomforth."
Note: I may be a bit biased at this point, but this is seriously a good story, and you should seriously go read it.
I started on Chapter 19.
Story Complete

The Lunar Rebellion by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: It has been a century since Nightmare Moon's banishment, and tension escalates between the three pony tribes. Follow the story of the fabled Shadow Kicker as she struggles through the days leading up to the Lunar Rebellion.
Note: Archaic English, my favourite kind. I can't help but also find it amusing how the protagonist's name is Shadow. Best part? There's another character within the story called "Swift".
I started on Chapter 6.

Synopsis: Rainbow Dash has never been interested in a relationship, so naturally, she's the one left to work the weather on Hearts and Hooves Day, while everypony else spends the holiday with their special somepony. It gets rather tiresome then, when everypony starts going to her to ask for little favours to make their special day even more special. Thankfully, when the day seemed like it will be as bad as every other year, Cloud Kicker and Blossomforth allows her to catch a break and get a bite to eat at Sugarcube Corner. Rainbow spends the rest of the day wondering why Pinkie Pie seemed especially friendly today.
Note: The story that started it all. The source behind Winningverse. The origin point. The... well, you get the idea.
Recently updated with a revised version (original still exists) where some elements within the story has been modified to fit with the canons of the rest of the Winningverse.
One-shot

Dresden gets Schooled by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Sequel or... side story... to My Little Denarians. Basically, Harry Dresden is tasked to retrieve the Element of Magic instead of Twilight in Equestria Girls. Nutcracking Hilarity ensues.
Note: Was an interesting experience, editing this story. I, for one, have never read the Dresden Files. Though this story does come a long way to incite an interest.
One-shot

Synopsis: Side story to Life and Times of a Winning Pony. Story's about what Sparkler has been up to in the latter half of chapter 19 of the main story. About her internal struggles about what has happened.
Note: On a technical level, when I went through this story, I actually didn't find many problems. Guess that's what happens when you're working on a story written by the Winningverse's "resident grammar nazi".
One-shot

What's in a Name by Comma-Kazie

Synopsis: Prequel to the Life and Times of a Winning Pony. Ditzy, of the prominent House of Doo, unexpectedly shows up at Rainbow's doorsteps, distressed. Rainbow decides to help her adjust to a new life away from home. But being away from home is not the only concerns Ditzy will have.
Note: Heh, the infrequency at which this story updates is something we like to poke fun at. Granted, at this point, I'd say Comma-Kazie updates more frequently than I do. In any case, despite the disperse updates, they are worth reading and following.
Also, this is the only story I know of in the Winningverse that is written in third person. So it's certainly a different style than the usual things you will find there.
My involvement in this work began in Chapter 4.

Synopsis: Side story to the Life and Times of a Winning Pony. Entry to Cloudless Month event. Takes place in Canterlot on the eve of the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration. Follow the story of Storm Kicker, cousin of Cloud Kicker and freshly graduated from West Hoof Academy, as she tries the last bit of free time she will have before joining the Long Patrol. Of course, she gets accompanied by her younger sister and... well, sibling banters ensues.
Then the lighthearted atmosphere changes when they're asked to look into the disappearance of a family friend.
Note: Y'know, think this might just be the longest piece I've worked on, at least in recent memories.
One-shot

Synopsis: Another side story to the Life and Times of a Winning Pony. Second entry to Cloudless Month event. Follow the story of Octavia, when one of her performance requires her to work and somehow weave her music with the completely clashing style of Vinyl Scratch.
Note: No, this is not a shipping story. Amazing isn't it? I don't think I have seen a lot of stories involving this duo without them making out by the end of the story.
Story Complete

Synopsis: Side story to chapter 18-21 of the main Winning Pony story and entry to Cloudless Month. What was going to be a simple visit, where Pinkie shows her support for Cloud Kicker's loss, gets complicated when Pinkie and Rainbow gets into a disagreement.
Note: A good take on Pinkie Pie, where her depiction is not that of an ever-cheerful simple-minded pony, but rather a fascinating character with quite a bit of depth.
Story Complete

Synopsis:Entry to the Cloudless Month event. A Free Mind among the Changeling is hired on an espionage mission. Follow the tale as this one slowly progresses on the task, up to the point where Major Nimbus Gust was finally replaced.
Note: An interesting story, with plenty of world-building and insight on an Infiltrator. Comma does a good job keeping the story intriguing, and manage to place the Changeling that ultimately killed Cloud Kicker's mother in a sympathetic light.
One-shot

Synopsis: Parallel to Chapter 18 of Life and Times of a Winning Pony. Final entry to Cloudless Month. Blossomforth has just lost her virginity, but she wakes up the next morning to find her lover absent.
Note: Quite a bit of internal turmoil, where one struggles with the reasonability of wanting more from someone, when said individual is hurting. Good emotional flow. Ending with a great heart-to-heart between Blossomforth and Fluttershy.
One-shot

Road Not Taken by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: First entry to Alternate Universe Month of the Winningverse. There is no doubt that the flight camp incident is what derailed Cloud Kicker's whole life. But what if the infamous flight camp incident never happened? What would life have been like if Cloud Kicker and Fluttershy had never broken up? Where would Rainbow had gone had she never had a reason to leave?
Note: A well-written story with good character interaction and adorableness. Many parts will leave you wondering just how much of the universe had changed with just one small difference.
One-shot

Rise of the Phoenix Empress by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Last entry to the Alternave Universe Month of the Winningverse. Sunbeam Sparkle has always been a master of manipulations but this has been her crowning achievement.
Note: I have to say, I really like Sunbeam Sparkle. This story explores more of Sunbeam's character in a post-Lunar Rebellion age.
One-shot

Synopsis: Takes place in the Winningverse. We all know that Sparkler has been lovingly adopted into Derpy Doo's family. Despite her terrible experiences with the orphanage and the terrifying possibility of being adopted by terrible parents, Sparkler has still opened up to Derpy, learned to love and be loved. But what happens if she weren't so lucky? What happens if she has never been adopted and was soon forced to fend for herself? This is such a tale.
Note: Started from Chapter 3 and on. The story originally started as a simple one-shot with chapter 1, then due to popular request, the author decided to expand on that alternate universe. Despite the author's inexperience (this being only her second story ever posted), I find she still manages to write an engaging story.

Synopsis: Takes place in the same alternate universe of the winningverse, Road Not Taken, where we follow just how badly things are going for Applejack.
Note: Originally meant for the Winningverse AU month event but... it got delayed. A rather depressing story, where things look bleak for our favourite farmer, and I get the feeling that things can only get worse for her. Things are well setup at the beginning and only will make you both want to see it stop and continue.
Story Complete

Synopsis: Winningverse story. Takes place mid-season 4. While she's struggling to maintain a sense of normalcy, Princess Twilight Sparkle is assigned a bodyguard. She is less than pleased with the news.
Note: An episodic style story for which I would not be surprised if more slices of life came from this.
One-shot

Synopsis: Sequel to Rise of the Phoenix Empress above. Life in the Empire from the eyes of its inhabitants.
Note: Collection of episodic style story, much like in the show.
Ongoing Collection of One-shots

To Serve and Protect by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Sequel to Princess Twilight's Profoundly Peripheral Protector. Takes place parallel to Season 4 Episode 26 Twilight's Kingdom and what Storm Kicker has been up to.
Note: I will admit the purpose of this one had been a bit vague when I first started editing. It has only been until a bit later in the process that I figured out it was the story of Storm's insecurities of being Twilight's less-than-helpful bodyguard.
One-shot

Synopsis: Twilight Sparkle had faced countless powerful foes, from Nightmare Moon to Chrysalis, from Discord to Sombra. But none were as dastardly (and strange) as the greatest enemy she has faced yet: Sugar Cube Corner's mailbox.
Note: As you have probably guessed, this is a comedy story. And for those of you getting sick of the number of Winningverse I have here, this one can be taken either way. If you like Winningverse, it can be in Winningverse. If you don't like it, then it's its own little fun one-shot.
One-shot

Synopsis: Part of the Road Not Taken continuity. The story of Sparkler's adoption.
Note: Comma-Kazie doesn't upload and update frequently. But when he does, he does an excellent job.
One-shot

Synopsis: Lilac, a young filly, has experienced a lot of things a filly her age shouldn't have. The latest on the ever-expanding list is seeing her mother grievously wounded.
Note: Side story to Chapter 3 of The Alternate Life of Sparkle No-Last-Name. Occurs a bit after the end of the chapter, in the middle of the night. I won't deny that, from a storytelling perspective, I found there was not much point to this story (in that, right at this current moment, it does not contribute anything to the main story). However, it does explore Lilac's character, and the loss (or at least the start of the loss) of a child's innocence.
One-shot

A Moment in the Sun by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: The Story of Sunset Shimmer and her time as Celestia's student.
Note: Story in the Winningverse. Does not connect with Equestria Girls.
Story Complete

The Freeport Venture by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Sequel to A Moment in the Sun. Story of Sunset Shimmer's advent into the imfamous trade city of Freeport.
Note: Winningverse Story.
Story Complete

Why do I like Horse Women? by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Flash realizes everyone he's ever dated has had something to do with horses. Shenanigans ensue.
Note: Crack fic. Short. Silly. Unashamedly... you get the idea. And strangely enough, I can't access the GDoc anymore cause it is in "Violation of our Terms and Service".
One-shot

Synopsis: Takes place between Princess Twilight's Profoundly Peripheral Protector and To Serve and Protect. Storm and Twilight have to contend against the alliance between Star, Sparkler and Rainbow in a prank war.
Note: A simple yet fun little slice-of-life story with the both of them getting used to their new arrangement.
Story Complete

Dresden Rocks by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Sequel to Dresden gets Schooled. A reimagining of Rainbow Rocks.
Note: Dresden Files. More Sunset Shimmer.
Story Complete

More Equal than Others by Chengar Qordath

Synopsis: Sunset Shimmer takes on a bounty on a bank robber.
Note: Part of the miniseries between the major installments of the Freeport Venture. Magus Sunset Shimmer.
One-shot

Synopsis: Sunset Shimmer attends an auction where one of the most dangerous books in existence is being sold.
Note: Chronologically after More Equal than Others. A non-spoiler tidbit from behind the scene: There was quite a bit of discussion on the ending and the moral behind an action.
Complete

Synopsis: Kukri Doo is being stalked by an ancient being.
Note: A demonstration of the morality of Freeport. Suffice to say, anyone under the impression Freeport isn't that bad is in for a nasty awakening.
Complete

So that's the list at the moment. I will update this blog post as needed.
