SO YEAH.
SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF A LITTLE THING CALLED EQUESTRIA GIRLS.
Most of you have probably already seen the trailer as well. If not, here you are:
So, this raises the question. WILL IT BE GOOD?
In order to answer this, we need to take a close look at what we actually know from this trailer.
1. I've heard rumors that due to certain licensing that Hasbro has already done, this is confirmed to be a series. However, the thing this trailer is for, and the first thing we're going to see, is a oneshot movie.
2. No, this does not take place on Earth with normal humans. The mirror quite obviously takes Twilight to some sort of alternate universe Equestria where all of the ponies are anthropomorphic.
3. It appears Twilight herself does not exist in this universe. None of her friends know who she is, not because they have no memory of her, but simply because she is not existent in this universe.
4. The supposed main antagonist is supposedly "Sunset Shimmer", of whom a toy already exists. 
Given the toy's description, I'm honestly pretty excited. Shimmer is probably from the Equestrian universe herself, and judging from some other screenshots, she can apparently use the PLOT DEVICE CROWN to do dark magic. 
5. Spike is a dog. Spike probably doesn't exist in this universe either, as he is seen going through the portal with Twilight (his face appears in the top right corner during the warp sequence)
6. Supposedly Twi gets a love interest. Looks like Shining Armor's mane colors with Soarin's mane style, topped with a nice creamy coat. Could possibly carry over into the real series, but nothing is confirmed.
7. This does not affect FiM in any way, aside from possibly just being a canonical event. It doesn't mean that every single pony is going to become humanized forever, it doesn't mean Twilight is going to be trapped a human forever, it doesn't mean anything.
The show is already scheduled for a fourth season, mind you, so even if the rumors are true and they ARE making a series out of this, the mane six won't star in it, as they'll be a bit busy defending Equestria in Season 4. Unless, of course, they just wait for Season 4 to end and then start a new Equestria Girls season.
All in all, I don't see doomsday material here. It might be shit, but again, it's an isolated piece of shit. S4 might suffer a bit because of it, due to a transfer of funding from the show to the movie, but I don't think it's the end of the fandom.
And you know, it might actually be good.
So, my feelings? Skeptical, but open minded. Much like my approach to the original FiM series.
