Almost done, yay! (or maybe not)

    Hi guys and gals.
The good news is that I finally finished the final chapter of After Destiny.
The bad news is that I absolutely hate its last scene. It gives no closure and pacing is weird.

    Subtle differences

Human fiction: "Curses, I didn't expect a thunderstorm right now."
Pony fiction: "Curses, I forgot there was a thunderstorm scheduled right now."

    Human fiction: "It's a 6 hour drive, or a 1 hour flight."
Pony fiction: "It's a 6 hour flight, or we can take Twilight-Train."

Human fiction: "The mailman lost my mail."
Pony fiction: "The dragon burnt my mail."

    Back in business!

We're both settled in our new home. We have parties scheduled and everything (praise Pinkie Pie!).
I'm back in business, folks! My new deadline for WitAD is Nightmare Night. Rawr!

    [no title]

Ending WRR turned out to be a great decision. I'm now leaving my comments in the stories themselves, where I can actually interact with the authors and they become much more useful. It also helps me think about how I'm writing as well, and how I can invite comments to my own stories (well, the two of them), something I sorely miss. I'm inclined to believe my WRR is gone for good.

    I have over-estimated myself

Progress has been excruciatingly slow but fiercely steady. I'm getting like a dozen or two words in every day. I'm finding the time to write, even if it's not very much, and when I do, it's hard to concentrate and get momentum. I could call it writer's block, it probably qualifies many people's definition. I could actually cop out, polish my first three scenes and call it chapter 2 of 3. But I

Weekly Reading Report XII - the glorious return! · 1:24am May 13th, 2013

Hi everypony!!

Last WRR was.. 7 weeks ago. That is a very long time! I haven't read much in all these weeks. A quick run through these days (hint: not quick at all; that's 49 days) showed what I predicted: no routine, no reading. The least of which was this week, with only 11kw. From March 25th to today I read 403002 words, which is worse than some past individual weeks. Worst of all, I mostly just read updates to keep up with what I had ongoing; there were only 3 new stories, of which I will mention:

Easy Come, Caprese Go
by heliopause
10905 words, read 10905 these weeks.
Single chapter.

Rarity designing? When well pulled off, it can be very interesting. Rarity freaking out? That's always fun. That's a fun story to read, it's somewhat predictable but it's a very enjoyable ride, well written, and I'd recommend it to any fan of Rarity.

School of Hard Knocks

by Hoopy McGee
22465 words currently, read 11789 these weeks.
8 chapters currently, read 3 chapters these weeks.

I have mentioned this story before and I'll mention it again because the story has made a really interesting turn! I love how Hoopy writes his stories getting into lots of detail and characterization, but it never gets boring. It's a full-OC spin-off of an riminally hilarious Pinkie Pie story, but it has a completely different vibe because of the crankier protagonist. Really interesting, funny at times, incredibly amusing most of the time. Highly recommended read, and it's refreshing to finally see the story moving out of school-only issues.

Flash Fog

by Kwakerjak
44482 words currently, edited 7955 these weeks.
16 chapters currently, edited 2 chapters these weeks.

There are a lot of things I love about the uniqueness of this story, how it uses an action movie structure for issues that fit perfectly into the show's universe and tone. I was very happy when Kwakerjak invited me to be one of the editors, but I'll have to mention that it makes it harder for me to talk about it. Let's just say that shit's going down and there's a lot more shit he's hinted at that I'm sure will go down later on.

A Stitch in Time

by Eakin
70631 words, read 26726 these weeks.
9 chapters, read 3 chapters these weeks.

I have mentioned this story before, so I'll just talk about the ending and final impressions. The jury is still out whether I like Starswirl, but, come to think of it, I also don't like Eakin's bitter depiction of Twilight Sparkle either (even though it's very much justified). I very much enjoyed how Twi's relationship played out and where it eventually went. Now, the sequel hook.... UGH. It ruined the catharsis utterly and completely. You better follow up, Eakin! *shakes fist hoof*

My Little Changeling: Friendship is Weird

by Niaeruzu
96101 words, read 21121 these weeks.
11 episodes, read 3 episodes these weeks.

I have also mentioned this story before, and I also need to talk about its ending. See, that's the problem of not reading new stories. :fluttershysad: Anyway. I love this story. I love how I saw this author getting better and better through the episodes of this story. It's simple and amusing, and it developed a complexity very organically naturally. And it ended on a very engaging sequel hook, that promises yet again a completely different story. I won't lie: I'm really excited to see what's next!

Finally, there's Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell, which is the official book that explains the origin of Princess Cadance! Obligatory read to everyone who writes about princessdom and alicornness. I don't have the numbers for that, though. It's not a particularly good book, but it's not too bad either, the one thing that you have to keep in mind is that it's canon.

So, what about the BBo1494 sequel, Disentanglement? Well, yeah, it didn't fly. I'll stop worrying about it. My next focus is finishing WitAD, and then start my CMC+Zecora project. Not much news otherwise, I'm living in a hotel this month (paid for by my new employer), and I need to find somewhere to live next month, and HOLY FUCK EVERYTHING'S EXPENSIVE in Rio de Janeiro. I theoretically can afford it now, but in practice I haven't been paid yet. :\ Oh well. That's all, everypony.

As for the new story headers, I've decided to make use of the FimFiction API and I generated them. ;)
