Of Project Managers and Panic · 2:54am Apr 22nd, 2013
With the amount of time between chapter 4 and chapter 5, I imagine some of you had begun to wonder about the state of Our Eminence. Allow me to explain.
I work in the entertainment industry, which as those who work in it as well know can host some pretty irregular jobs. As mine is at the bottom of the latter of my particular field, it fits into that category very snugly. For the past several weeks, I have been working a pretty intense, as well as pretty consistent amount of overtime. In fact for the past month I've counted a week with less than fifteen hours of overtime to be pretty good. As a result I've had almost no time to work on the story. I started Chapter five hardly a week after Chapter four, and I finished it just today. In previous days I've done /longer/ chapters in a week.
Much as I'd like to say this is over, it really, really isn't. The nature of the thing causing overtime is such that it really isn't going to stop any time soon, and to make matters worse my project manager has recently handed me a task that managed to cram. at best guess, five weeks of worth into two. That is not hyperbole., in spite of my most earnest wishes. For the next two weeks I will live at work.
After then... well, I'll still have plenty of overtime, but I might, might be able to work on the story again. It's hard to say for sure, though. For all I know it won't relax enough for me to comfortably work on the story until the project ends in august. So, for the time being, I'm calling Our Eminence On Hiatus. I'm sorry to do it so soon after the hiatus for revisions, but I just wanted you all to know where it's at.
Cheers, all.
Well, it sounds like you're a bit busy. At least you must be getting some nice pay with all that time and a half! Good luck!
Sweet I found your story like literaly an hour ago and have read the entire thing. IT's awesome and stuff like that takes time and I can understand the whole time thing. Heck I've got 2 finals back to back and on top of that my group has to compile and combine 3 8 page reports we've done over the semester into one by Thursday. Life comes first for fanfiction writers and our writing comes second. Granted with all the overtime your putting in you're getting a nice paycheck.Good luck with your project and hopefully you'll get some downtime to write.
Yay for production crunch! No one needs a real life when they work in entertainment.
May this insane amount of work allow your product to ship and you to stay employed
