Why do I care? When I read fanfiction, what is the trigger that makes me go from 'Eh, I don't have time from this' to 'Huh, I might check this out' to 'I am looking forward to the next update!'

The 'Featured Box' I see so many fanfic authors mention is that big box on the front page without any label, right? It's always puzzled me. The contents don't seem to update on any particular schedule, and unlike 80% of the other elements on the front page, there's nothing to explain what the box is for. It's just BAM have some story titles and summaries!

The contents don't seem to update on any particular schedule, and unlike 80% of the other elements on the front page, there's nothing to explain what the box is for. The Featured Box runs off of a algorithm that determines which stories are getting the most Likes and Faves and comments over the shortest period of time, so no Mod is personally updating it and the like. I do believe that pagan rites and blood offerings are involved, though... ...
