Huh... so apparently Knighty is going away. I'd be more freaked out if they hadn't made the announcement at 3 in the morning and on April Fools Day. I never had a problem with Knighty, and i'll miss him. it's always sad when someone leaves the group. As for Poultron, one, i never knew that was a user, so pleasant surprise there, less pleasant was the whole HiE fics are banned thing... i won't deny that as of late the featured box was getting a little weird, but i feel like that's the price you pay for a free site full of well written fics, for the most part. I'm one of those people that detests censorship in any form, so the news that a whole chunk of the site is not going to be allowed on here really pisses me off. If i wanted to read fics that are modded to that extent, i'd be on EQD. again, FimFic and EQD are good sites, but the eason i stay on one, and only occassionally visit the other is the fact that on here, if the fic is well written, regardless of the focus of the story, it can and will be hosted. now Poultron, i'm not trying to make a fuss, partly because i don't want to get banned, and partly because i just don't like raising cain, but if you're seriously in charge of the site now, are the HiE fics such a bother and a pain for the prereaders (still don't understand how humans make a story harder to preread) that you have to ban them? what about the stories like Cheerilee's Garden? the stories that are solely focused on the ponies we all know and love commiting brutal acts for kicks, are they really less of a bother to people than reading a story about mr./mrs./ smith interacts with ponies? imagine if My Little Dashie had been shot down before it had a chance... i'm just saying, either you are going to turn this site into EQD, which is bad, because most of the writers on here come here so they DON'T get shot down without getting a chance, or you need to just let the writers write. I know i have a couple stories i'm planning out that can only really work as a humanized version of the characters, and that's mostly because of how body language works, but those aren't going to happen if Humans are banned.
long story short, i hate self inserts and bad fics just like everyone else with a sense of taste. but it's not the genre that is the problem, it's the individual writers. And as long as there's a rating system, those are usually kept in check. So come on Poultron, don't be that guy, let the fics stay free.
PS, this is me with my jimmies unrustled... hopefully this is a hell of a practical joke, and i can delete this after tomorrow. if not, please take what i said to heart and think about how others feel if you try and turn around to shun a part of the fandom simply because you don't like it. Teasing/bullying/whatever probably happens to you irl if folks find out you like ponies, so don't take it out on those of us online with different tastes.
PPS, Knighty, i hope this is fake, i like the site and all the work you put into it. not sure why some folks don't like you, but you're stronger than them, so keep on keeping on. if this is real, then it's been an honor and a privilege to be part of the fandom with you.
To be honest, I agree with what you just said. Part of me hope that it is a just a joke. But if it is, that is the kind of joke that would make Pinkie sick...
Somehow, this happen just at the time that I finally have my mind set on an idea that I wanted to use to see if I can manage to write a fic. An idea that can't work without humans... Hmm, maybe elves could do I guess?
